Me and Old Mo were completely bewildered.
Chen Yao, just an ordinary girl, what could be special about her?
Did ghosts fear her?
But since our martial uncle didn't say, we didn't ask.
As for Chen Yao herself, there was no question.
She didn't think there was anything special about herself either.
Afterwards, we gathered our respective gear and left the inpatient department.
Arriving at the hospital's lower floors, the entire building felt rather cold.
The surrounding yin energy was dense.
From the direction of the radiology department, waves of chilling aura surged.
Our martial uncle stood at the base of the building and said to Old Mo and me:
"Open your eyes! Then head straight over there."
Old Mo and I nodded, no need for further words.
We each pulled out an eye-opening talisman and held it in our hands.
In front of Chen Yao, we uttered a low chant:
"Hurry as the law commands, Open!"
In an instant, the talisman ignited with a fiery spirit, turning to ashes in the blink of an eye.
The talisman vanished, and a chilling sensation swept over our eyes.
With a blink, the path to the netherworld opened.
Things and substances invisible to the naked eye became much clearer.
Seeing us open our eyes, Chen Yao asked:
"What are you guys doing?"
"Opening our celestial eyes," Old Mo replied directly.
But Chen Yao clearly didn't understand, looking still quite puzzled:
"What are celestial eyes?"
"It means we can see ghosts," I added.
Chen Yao's eyes widened in surprise.
Our martial uncle, standing nearby, chimed in:
"Use the medicinal liquid to help Xiao Chen open her eyes too."
"Understood, Master!" Old Mo responded immediately.
He quickly retrieved the Seven-Star Herb Liquid from his tool bag.
Chen Yao looked on with curiosity.
Old Mo smiled slightly:
"Close your eyes, and after applying this liquid, the fiery energy in your eyes will lessen, and you'll be able to open them."
"That sounds amazing, hurry then!"
Old Mo grunted and, holding the bottle, sprayed a few times onto Chen Yao's eyelids.
"Rub it in yourself."
Chen Yao did as instructed.
Upon opening her eyes again, she too was surprised to find many black mists now present.
"What is this black mist?"
"That's Yin Sha Ghost Qi," I said.
Chen Yao nodded repeatedly, looking around.
This was her first time opening her eyes, and she was curious about everything.
"Huh? Why are there two patients walking back and forth over there?"
"Those are ghosts! They must have died not long ago and haven't come to their senses yet..." our martial uncle explained.
"Ah? So those are ghosts? They look no different from us."
"The biggest difference between us is that we are humans, and they are ghosts. We have bodies, they don't."
Chen Yao glanced at the ghosts a few times, then uttered a few more "ohs," but didn't seem particularly frightened.
"Alright, let's go! No time to waste here," our martial uncle continued.
Everyone nodded, and we began to move forward.
Before long, we arrived at the radiology department.
It was deserted, with no one present tonight.
However, a faint Yin Sha aura emanated from within the radiology department.
Our martial uncle led the way, without pausing.
The three of us followed behind, passing by.
Soon, we reached the interior of the radiology department.
Upon entering, it was empty.
Furthermore, we noticed the doctor on duty inside the window had fallen asleep, likely from exhaustion.
This was perfect, as no one would disturb us.
We walked to the safety exit.
And slipped right inside; it was pitch black within.
But with our celestial eyes open, we could still see our surroundings.
"Master, if you go down a bit, there will be three large iron doors. The ghost infant is locked behind those iron doors," Old Mo stated.
Our martial uncle nodded:
"Just lead the way. A little ghost infant, I'll take care of it with a raise of my hand today!"
Our martial uncle was very confident.
And his cultivation level indeed gave him the right to speak so boldly.
Chen Yao followed closely behind us, not saying a word.
But it was evident she was still somewhat nervous.
We descended the stairs.
However, upon reaching the location of the three large iron doors, we froze.
Looking at them now, all three large iron doors were open.
The three Yin-Yang locks had all been undone.
The talismans etched onto the large iron doors had all turned black.
As if scorched by fire, they were dark and grimy.
"Holy hell, how did the doors open?"
"And what's with the burn marks!"
Old Mo and I exclaimed in surprise, taking a few steps forward.
Our martial uncle, however, furrowed his brow and approached the large iron doors.
He rubbed the surface of the iron door, finding a layer of black oil.
After smelling it, his expression worsened.
"Martial Uncle, what is this?"
Our martial uncle raised an eyebrow:
"Corpse oil. Used to break the talismans on these iron doors. Hurry, follow me inside!"
With a grim expression, our martial uncle wasted no more words.
He barged straight in.
Old Mo and I followed without hesitation.
Soon, we passed through the three large iron doors and arrived at the basement level.
Chen Yao had followed the entire way, but remained silent.
Upon reaching the basement level, we found the place dark and damp, with a strong smell of mildew.
The space here was also vast, with a long corridor.
And at the end of the corridor, black mist was rising.
Within the mist, there was also a faint green mist...
Seeing the green mist, my martial uncle, Old Mo, and I exchanged glances.
I blurted out:
"Demonic energy!"
"This place is supposed to only have ghosts, how can there be demonic energy?" Old Mo questioned.
Our martial uncle spoke in a deep voice:
"It must be something that arrived before us. Let's go."
After saying this, our martial uncle continued forward.
The further we walked, the thicker the green mist became, and the denser the yin energy grew.
In this environment, Chen Yao seemed somewhat uncomfortable.
But she bravely pressed on.
Soon, we turned a corner.
And heard a faint "woo woo woo" wailing sound.
The sound was faint, but in the enclosed, sealed morgue of the basement, it was remarkably abrupt.
Our martial uncle slowed his pace, signaling for us to be quiet.
We began to creep forward stealthily.
Looking at the dust-covered directional signs.
They indicated that further ahead was the morgue.
And the "woo woo woo" sound, along with the Yin Sha demonic energy, were both emanating from that room.
We held our breath and advanced little by little.
Before long, we reached the morgue entrance.
From within the morgue, the faint "woo woo woo" wailing continued.
However, besides this wailing, there were also "chee chee chee" chewing sounds and "hoo hoo hoo" heavy breathing.
The sounds were very strange.
But without a doubt, nothing good was inside this room.
We just weren't sure what it was!
We didn't barge in directly, but instead, cautiously poked our heads in to look.
Little by little.
When I exposed my eyes and saw the situation inside.
My heart gave a "thump."
A chill shot straight up the back of my neck.
Inside the abandoned morgue, two human-bodied, beast-headed monsters were crouched on the ground.
They were gnawing on a ghost infant with bulging veins and an excessively large head.
And that ghost infant was precisely the one we had seen last night.
The "woo woo woo" wailing was indeed coming from that ghost infant.
As for the human-bodied, beast-headed monsters, they were extremely excited, pinning the ghost infant down tightly.
With each bite, they tore off a piece of the ghost infant's flesh.
And that bloody flesh, after being chewed in their mouths, transformed into a mass of vital energy, which they then swallowed.
The "chee chee chee" chewing sounds were the noises they made while devouring the ghost infant...
