Mo Yu’s words, Feng Zun Zhe and Tianhuo Zun Zhe froze in surprise.
Witnessing the normally ferocious Stone-Devouring Ant Queen now appearing so docile, Feng Zun Zhe was filled with confusion. Casting an odd glance at Mo Yu, he offered an apologetic tone.
"This time, I misjudged you. For Manor Lord Mo to establish such a vast enterprise from scratch at such a young age, your methods are undoubtedly extraordinary.
From now on, I will no longer interfere with Manor Lord Mo’s actions and only hope we can safely rescue my old friend."
Xiao Yan smiled slightly. Compared to Feng Zun Zhe and Tianhuo Zun Zhe’s astonishment, he appeared much calmer.
He knew his cousin Mo Yu well; if Mo Yu wasn’t confident, he wouldn’t have dared to use this method. Yet Xiao Yan couldn’t help but wonder how his cousin had managed to subdue the Stone-Devouring Ant Queen so quickly.
Mo Yu, however, merely smiled faintly and waved his hand. "Ignorance is no crime, Senior Feng was just anxious. I won’t hold it against you."
Although the Beast Spirit Pill had triggered an ant tide, fortunately, everything was still under Mo Yu’s control.
The rapid subjugation of the Stone-Devouring Ant Queen was closely tied to the residual blood of a Ban Sheng in Mo Yu’s body.
Even after breaking through to Dou Zun, traces of this potent blood still lingered within him.
The Nine-Winged Purple Gold Serpent, as an ancient magical beast, rivaled the Ancient Void Dragon in strength. Its bloodline carried an innate suppression against lesser magical beasts.
Leveraging this residual bloodline aura, Mo Yu subdued the queen and quickly implanted a Soul Imprint within it, firmly controlling the creature.
The queen, being the absolute ruler of the Stone-Devouring Ant colony, granted Mo Yu control over the entire swarm through its subjugation.
At this moment, the tense atmosphere gradually relaxed.
Xiao Yan moved closer to Mo Yu, his gaze curiously studying the Stone-Devouring Ant Queen.
The queen’s body shimmered with a dark golden hue, and eight thin, cicada-like wings adorned its back. Its massive, jagged mandibles were terrifying, evoking chills at the thought of being bitten.
As Xiao Yan observed the queen, it became aware of his presence. Its wings buzzed faintly, and its menacing jaws opened, revealing rows of sharp teeth.
Mo Yu quickly activated the Soul Imprint, and the queen immediately calmed down.
"Does it know the location of the Hall of Souls?" Feng Zun Zhe floated over, his tone carrying a hint of excitement as he glanced at the queen.
"Yes," Mo Yu nodded, then turned to the group. "Time is of the essence; let’s move."
After a brief pause, Xiao Yan and Feng Zun Zhe nodded in agreement.
"Follow me."
Mo Yu took the lead, darting toward the mist-shrouded depths of the mountain range. Xiao Yan and the others quickly followed.
With the queen guiding them, their pace increased significantly. No longer distracted by the need to search for a path, they reached the mountain’s core in under half an hour.
"Stop!"
Amid the misty forest, Mo Yu suddenly halted, gesturing for silence.
As the group fell still, the queen emitted a peculiar, faint sound wave, which rippled outward like water.
Plop, plop!
Moments after the sound wave spread, dark shadows began dropping from the surrounding mist, landing silently on the yellowed grass below.
Upon closer inspection, Xiao Yan and the others discovered fist-sized black ants clinging tightly to the throats of small black birds, silencing them completely.
These birds, no larger than a palm, had been hidden in the mist. Even Xiao Yan’s senses had failed to detect them.
"These are the Hall of Souls’s sentinels. Any disturbance triggers their sound-based signals. If not eliminated, our movements will be exposed," Mo Yu explained.
Thanks to the queen’s control, the group had avoided detection and the possibility of ambush.
Realizing this, Xiao Yan and the others couldn’t help but feel a chill. The Hall of Souls’s methods were indeed sinister—who would suspect such creatures serving as spies?
"All nearby sentinel birds have been quietly eliminated by the Stone-Devouring Ants. There’s no need to worry. The Hall of Souls is close, so be cautious," Mo Yu whispered.
Hearing this, Xiao Yan and the others tensed, quietly circulating their Dou Qi in preparation for any sudden danger.
After clearing the Hall of Souls’s sentinels, Mo Yu resumed leading the group. About ten minutes later, they arrived at a steep, towering slope.
The mist here had thinned considerably, and at the slope’s end lay a vast valley.
In the valley stood a massive black hall, spanning hundreds of feet. It resembled a dormant prehistoric beast, exuding an eerie and chilling aura.
"So this is the Hall of Souls?"
Xiao Yan couldn’t help but take a sharp breath at the sight of the colossal structure.
Feng Zun Zhe and the others stepped forward, their eyes alight with both excitement and gravity as they gazed at the hall.
"Wait, there’s a spatial barrier here," Xiao Yan suddenly said.
"Leave the spatial barrier to me; I can slice through it without alerting anyone inside," Mo Yu said with a faint smile.
Stepping forward, Mo Yu’s finger glimmered with Flash Void Breaking Thunder, slicing a doorway several feet wide into the distorted space.
With a push of his hand, the barrier dissipated into nothingness, revealing a transparent spatial doorway.
Having broken through to Dou Zun, Mo Yu’s peak stage of Flash Void Breaking Thunder had become increasingly fluid.
Feng Zun Zhe and Tianhuo Zun Zhe exchanged astonished glances. Such seamless spatial manipulation was far beyond what a newly advanced Dou Zun should be capable of.
"Send the Stone-Devouring Ants in first to draw their fire," Mo Yu said with a cold smile after opening the doorway.
Hearing this, Xiao Yan and the others shuddered, knowing full well the devastating power of the ant swarm.
"Go."
At Mo Yu’s command, the queen emitted another sound wave. Soon, the faint sound of countless skittering legs grew louder.
A dense black tide of ants surged forth like a flood, spilling down the slope and rushing toward the giant black hall, obscured by the thin mist.
"Move!"
As the ant swarm infiltrated the valley, Mo Yu’s voice rang out. He stepped into the spatial barrier, his aura sharp and imposing, leading the charge into the Hall of Souls’s domain.
Within the silent valley, faint rustling sounds began to rise as the battle erupted.
A torrent of black flowed swiftly down the hillside, moving with such speed that within half a minute, it reached the area surrounding the massive black hall situated in the valley.
On some stone pillars surrounding the black hall, faint silhouettes could be seen seated cross-legged. These figures were shrouded in black mist, exuding an eerie atmosphere with each breath they took.
"Hmm?"
As the torrent rapidly approached, a figure cloaked entirely in black mist atop one of the stone pillars suddenly let out a surprised sound.
The figure frowned, staring at the black tide spreading like water. After a brief pause, his eyes filled with shock, and he abruptly stood, shouting sharply, "Be careful! It’s the Stone-Devouring Ant! How did these creatures get in?"
The sudden shout shattered the silence of the valley. Over a dozen figures enveloped in black mist atop the stone pillars quickly rose, their faces filled with astonishment as they watched the swiftly approaching tide of black ants.
"Sound the alarm!"
One of the shadowy figures commanded in a deep voice. Immediately, a piercing soundwave erupted from his mouth and swiftly entered the colossal hall, which loomed like a primordial beast.
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
As the warning echoed, numerous shadowy figures emerged one after another from the hall. Their expressions shifted upon seeing the overwhelming wave of ants approaching.
"Everyone, take action together! Eliminate these creatures before they disturb the Honorable Elders’ rest!"
A black-robed man, who appeared to hold a high position, hovered in the sky, frowning as he gazed at the ant tide below.
"Yes, Protector Liu!"
At his command, nearly a hundred shadowy figures below responded in unison. Dark, sinister mist erupted violently from their bodies, surging toward the ant tide to obstruct its advance.
Hiss! Hiss!
Upon contact, white smoke erupted from the Stone-Devouring Ant as they were swiftly corroded by the black mist.
However, the sheer number of ants was terrifying. Despite the dense black mist, it struggled to hold back the relentless surge.
"What’s going on? Why is there such chaos?"
At this moment, several more shadowy figures emerged from the hall. Before they could fully voice their questions, their expressions changed as they saw the overwhelming tide of Stone-Devouring Ant.
"Stone-Devouring Ant? How did they get in here? Wait—there’s an enemy..."
Before the speaker could finish his sentence, the space around him abruptly twisted and collapsed inward, forming an invisible palm that crushed him into a mass of flesh.
"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"
It took a moment for the nearby Hall of Souls Protectors to recover from the sudden incident. Their faces filled with terror, and they let out piercing cries of alarm.
Hiss!
The cries had barely subsided when sharp sword energy suddenly erupted from the sky, shooting like lightning through the bodies of two Hall of Souls Protectors.
Boom!
As the sword energy descended, the space above the valley warped slightly. Several figures slowly emerged amidst the horrified gazes of the Hall of Souls members. At that moment, an overwhelming aura erupted without reservation.
Rumble!
Seven Dou Zun experts and one Dou Zong at the peak of their rank unleashed their might simultaneously. The resulting shockwaves sent sand and rocks flying throughout the valley. The oppressive pressure from the sky caused the faces of several Hall of Souls Protectors to pale.
"Haha! Hall of Souls scum, it’s time for you to pay your debts!"
A burst of laughter echoed from the sky as several powerful attacks descended, forcefully smashing over a dozen Hall of Souls members into the ground. The terrifying energy obliterated them in an instant.
"Haha! Kill!"
From the sky, several figures dove down like wolves among sheep. Even the usually arrogant Protectors of the Hall of Souls could only retreat in panic under the assault of these fearsome intruders.
Never in their wildest dreams had they imagined that someone would dare to attack the Hall of Souls directly.
"Who dares to cause chaos in my Hall of Souls? Are you courting death?!"
The relentless cries of agony in the valley finally caught the attention of the Honorable Elders within the hall. Furious roars echoed as five figures filled with killing intent burst out of the hall. Their gazes swept across the scene before locking onto Mo Yu and Xiao Yan.
"The boy from the Lei Clan—it’s you!"
"Xiao Yan? You’re still alive?"
Hearing this familiar voice, Mo Yu raised his head slightly, gazing at the five figures. He smirked coldly as his gaze fell upon the central figure.
"Old Mu Gu, I didn’t expect to see you here. It’s been years since the Black-Corner Region."
Old Mu Gu’s expression darkened upon hearing Mo Yu’s words. Years ago, during a capture operation in the Black-Corner Region, he had suffered a humiliating defeat, not only failing his mission but also being severely injured by a Lei Clan officer.
Moreover, he had later learned through secret channels that the Hun Clan backing the Hall of Souls had dispatched a supreme expert to capture this individual. Not only did that attempt fail, but the expert perished, inciting the wrath of a powerful figure behind the scenes.
That overwhelming fury had forced even the Hun Clan to rein in their actions, unable to take further measures.
Seeing Mo Yu here now, Old Mu Gu froze momentarily. Then his gaze shifted to Xiao Yan, and a knowing smile crept onto his face.
"You’re here for Yao Chen, aren’t you? I must say, you’re quite bold to invade my Hall of Souls for him. This is the first time I’ve encountered such audacity since becoming an Honorable Elder!"
"Jie Jie! What a surprise to meet old acquaintances. Feng Zun Zhe, you’re still so persistent."
Beside Old Mu Gu, another black-robed Dou Zun expert let out a sinister laugh.
"But barging into my Hall of Souls is courting death!"
