After staying a few days longer in the main world, Chai Shao’s tutelage wasn’t entirely without effect.
At least, Chai Yue hadn’t noticed that her own father had been swapped.
After a round of pleasantries, Li Shimin, Li Xiuning, and others gradually departed.
“My husband, how have you been on the other side these past few days?”
After dinner, back in their room, Chai Yue finally inquired about matters in the main world.
Fang Er’s heart instantly clenched. He chuckled, “Of course, I’ve been great!”
“Come, come, it’s been a while, let’s not chatter about trivialities.”
“Let your husband see if you’ve grown thinner!”
Chai Yue’s pretty face flushed. Although they were an old married couple, Fang Er’s direct and suggestive words still made her feel a bit shy.
While he claimed to check if she’d grown thinner, Fang Er’s hands had already ascended to the peaks.
Soft moans and chirps echoed from the room. The four maids, Bingxue, Yulu, and the others, who were guarding outside, consciously turned away and sent the two brothers, Sufeng and Sumu, who were guarding the mansion’s main gate, on their way.
The commotion that followed might be a bit too loud; it wasn’t appropriate for them to stay at home.
Passing through five passes and slaying six generals, Fang Er finally fell into a deep slumber at four in the morning.
The next morning, looking at the disheveled bodies beside him, Fang Er shook his head and got out of bed.
It was too absurd, but, this master liked it!
Heh heh heh heh.
The four maids had prepared breakfast. Seeing Fang Er emerge from the room, they instinctively glanced at the clock on the wall.
It was eight in the morning.
“Why didn’t Master sleep a bit longer?”
Bing’er, blushing, served the milk to Fang Er.
Fang Er casually sat by the table, took the milk, and sipped it.
“I have some matters to attend to. I’ll catch up on sleep later.”
The maids didn’t ask further questions, merely retreated to the side, blushing, looking at each other, their thoughts unspoken but understood.
Fang Er didn’t give it too much thought; he did indeed have things to handle.
Returning the swapped Chai Shao was one thing; now that he would be roaming the vast sea of stars, his team needed to be reorganized.
After finishing breakfast, he didn’t go to the research institute but headed straight to the Tianhuo Army’s encampment.
Looking at the soldiers drilling, Fang Er had someone summon Zhuzi, Wang Xuance, and the others.
“Zhuzi! Take your men to the Americas and bring back Yang Jiye and the other Song dynasty generals!”
“Yes!”
“Ma Chao, you go to Ryukyu and bring back the Yan Yun Cavalry and Lord Guan Er as well!”
“Yes!”
Upon receiving the orders, both men turned and left.
Wang Xuance asked thoughtfully, “Duke, you intend to……”
Fang Er nodded lightly, “I plan to bring them to the main world.”
“The Great Tang is now in a state of peace and prosperity, and major wars are almost impossible to occur again.”
“Keeping them here any longer would be a waste.”
“And as we move towards the interstellar era, we will inevitably clash with other civilizations, so the team needs to be reclassified.”
“The strength of soldiers lies in their quality, not quantity; it’s time for them to emerge from retirement.”
Xue Rengui, standing nearby, frowned, “Duke, but they haven’t had any contact with those warships.”
Fang Er smiled and patted him on the shoulder, “Did you have contact with them before? Operating spaceships is something that can be learned, but their combat consciousness was forged through bloodshed!”
“Bai Yuzhi’s team members might surpass them in operating spaceships, but when it comes to the battlefield, the situation might be very different.”
“After all, not everyone has the courage to face death!”
Xue Rengui was speechless; he couldn’t refute such a statement.
It was like those new recruits going into battle for the first time; they were full of confidence before the fight, but once on the battlefield, nearly half of them would lose their composure when facing corpses and blood.
Especially seeing their comrades die, such a blow would leave them unable to recover for a long time.
After a moment of silence, he asked somewhat uneasily, “Then, such a major undertaking, aren’t you going to inform the Grand Emperor?”
“Inform him of what?” Fang Er asked back with a serious expression.
Xue Rengui: ………..
Damn, shouldn’t such a significant matter as unauthorized expansion of troops be announced or requested?
“Crack!”
Before he could figure it out, Wang Xuance slapped the back of his head.
“Are you stupid!”
“The Duke is expanding the army in another world; what does that have to do with the Great Tang!”
Xue Rengui looked astonished, “It has nothing to do with it?”
Wang Xuance glared, “Does it have anything to do with it?”
Xue Rengui: ………..
Alright, it seemed like it really didn't have anything to do with it……
Fang Er ignored them and frowned at the drills the soldiers were performing.
After a long while, he shook his head expressionlessly.
“Go, tell them to stop for now!”
“Tactics like these will likely not be used anymore.”
“Later, give each of them a mobile phone. Besides essential physical training, let them play around with it in their free time!”
“Once they are familiar with it, select those with good performance and send them to the main world for simulated warship training.”
After inspecting the Tianhuo Army, Fang Er then headed to the research institute.
He wondered if they had made any new research breakthroughs during this time.
The atmosphere in the research institute was the same as before. People gathered in groups of three or five, either discussing proposals or engaging in academic conversations.
After watching outside several research rooms for a while, Fang Er walked into the director’s office with his hands behind his back.
Motorola was sitting in a rocking chair, dangling a fan, while You Rong stood behind him, her fair and plump hands gently massaging his shoulders.
Seeing Fang Er enter, the guy jumped in fright and sprang up.
“Countryman, when did you come back?”
Fang Er didn’t answer, only looking at him and You Rong with amusement.
“After so long, why isn’t your belly showing any signs yet?”
Upon hearing this question, You Rong instantly became awkward. She walked out from behind Motorola and curtsied.
“Thank you for your concern, Duke. It’s my fault for being unworthy, failing to give my husband a son or daughter.”
Fang Er was taken aback, realizing he might have asked something he shouldn’t have. He quickly coughed twice.
“Uh, you carry on with your work. Your man and I have some important matters to discuss.”
You Rong, relieved, quickly pushed open the door and left.
Watching her retreating back, Fang Er looked thoughtfully at Motorola.
“Is she suffering from occupational disease?”
“Perhaps, but it doesn’t matter. Anyway, I just can’t get her pregnant.”
Motorola seemed indifferent. Saying this, he suddenly smirked sinisterly.
“Countryman, you don’t know, this feeling of not having to worry about getting shot, it’s too great!”
“Condoms and things, completely unnecessary!”
“Love without barriers is true love, heh heh heh heh……”
