The Trickster King

Chapter 25 The Arrogant CEO's Secretary

Arriving at the second-floor restaurant, the scene was the same as yesterday. Most diners had already left, with only a few scattered individuals remaining.

Everyone returned to their workstations immediately after eating, never lingering in the cafeteria to chat, as this was something the leaders strongly disliked.

Yesterday's beef noodles had left him wanting more, and today he savored the specialty stir-fries and the soft, fragrant, sweet rice. If this weren't an internal cafeteria, he would have suspected some hidden technological trickery.

Holding his chopsticks, Xiao Xun's appetite was whetted. "It seems this is the motivation for me to stay here!"

"Oh! Isn't this the newly appointed Director Xiao! A supervisor as young as you, why are you personally coming to eat? If you want something, just have your assistant bring it back. How can the plastic chairs in the cafeteria be as comfortable as the leather seats in the office."

The person who approached was someone Xiao Xun had never seen before. He looked at him curiously, "Who are you?"

The person then sat opposite Xiao Xun. "Let me briefly introduce myself. I am Ike, a business manager from Tianrun Venture Capital, a subsidiary of Shengdiluoman Group!"

Xiao Xun thought for a moment. "I recall the venture capital company is not in this building. What are you doing here?"

Ike explained, "I have a few projects nearby that I need to follow up on. It's the middle of the day, so I came to the headquarters building to grab a meal."

Xiao Xun noticed the color of the other person's ID badge was different from his. Realizing something, he took off his own ID badge and placed it in front of Ike. "Whatever you want to eat, swipe my card."

Ike smiled and, without any pretense of politeness, took Xiao Xun's ID badge. "No wonder you could become a director at such a young age; your mind is sharp."

After getting his food, Ike sat down in front of Xiao Xun and returned his ID badge. "What happened to your arm?"

"Why does everyone I meet ask about my arm? Can't a normal person's arm get injured?"

Ike gestured with his chopsticks. "No, this is purely concern for you!"

Xiao Xun's expression remained unchanged, but inwardly he scoffed, "I think you're just making small talk because you have nothing else to say."

He stood up and looked at Ike. "You eat. I'm leaving."

Ike said, "Director, take care."

Returning to his office, Xiao Xun intended to take a short nap. Unexpectedly, there was another knock on the door. Xiao Xun felt his head was about to explode.

"Come in."

A tall woman, whom Xiao Xun had never seen before, entered. She was taller than Xiao Xun and was carrying a laptop.

"You're the new Technical Director, right? This computer seems to have a virus. Please handle it."

Xiao Xun was already quite annoyed. At this moment, he stood up abruptly. "I am a technical director, not an internet café manager. Can't you just find any technician outside for this matter?"

This woman perhaps did not expect Xiao Xun to suddenly flare up, and her expression turned cold. "‘Kid,’ this computer isn't mine."

Xiao Xun crossed his arms. "Whether it's yours or not, what does it have to do with me? I'm not getting paid for computer repairs."

Just then, a department manager walked in, took the computer with a smile, and said, "Secretary Gao, please bear with us. We messed up the job, so our director is very angry. Don't worry! He'll return it after he fixes it."

The tall woman looked down at the department manager, then at Xiao Xun, a slight smile playing on her lips. "I hope that during your time at Shengdiluoman, you'll change this bad temper of yours."

With that, she handed the laptop to the department manager beside her, turned, and strode away, muttering, "He probably won't last long."

The department manager carefully placed the laptop in front of Xiao Xun. "Director Xiao, you're new here and don't know the ins and outs of people here. You really can't afford to offend her."

Xiao Xun looked down at the laptop. It was a very ordinary model, even less expensive than his own computer. "In this company, besides the board of directors, there are only the president and the general manager. Who does she think she is?"

The department manager quickly turned and closed the door, lowering his voice. "This woman is the president's secretary. As the saying goes: it's easier to appease the King of Hell than a minor demon. This person loves to play petty games and report on others. We truly cannot afford to offend her!"

Upon hearing this, Xiao Xun thought that such a person existed in such a large company. He opened the computer. "I'm not afraid of her."

Then, he said to the department manager, "You can go out now."

The boot-up screen required a password. "Heh! This Ms. Gao is testing me?"

He easily bypassed the password and entered the backend. Xiao Xun's scalp tingled. "This isn't just infected with a virus; it's practically a virus database! This computer is quite something, to be able to run so smoothly with so many viruses installed. It's truly remarkable."

Some simple viruses were quickly eliminated, and some stubborn self-replicating viruses took a bit of time. However, with Xiao Xun's rapid operations, they were also cleared.

But there was one virus that was not only difficult to kill but also had strong reproductive and hiding capabilities. If he wasn't careful, it would infect a large area.

"Heh! The person who wrote this virus is quite something. Its attack strength isn't high, but its reproductive ability is strong. If this were given to 'Black Shark,' this computer would be completely ruined."

After offering a compliment, Xiao Xun directly created a virtual system within the computer and dragged all the infected areas into the virtual system. Then, he performed indiscriminate fragmentation processing on the entire virtual operating system.

He then conducted another sweep, searching for common file extensions for computer viruses, but found no virus files.

However, there were no company-related files in the entire computer. It made sense; if important company files were infected with so many viruses, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Returning to the desktop, he saw a folder labeled "Diary."

Although he knew it was wrong to peek at someone else's diary, Xiao Xun couldn't resist clicking it. He wanted to see what secrets Ms. Gao hid in her diary.

March 12th, Sunny

Today, the regent said there were signs of dragon activity in the Payedor Mountains. If they could be tamed, a powerful dragon cavalry regiment could be formed to sweep across the Atlantis continent.

But currently, there are no excellent dragon tamers in the country. Even if they were caught, they would...

"Sigh! I thought it was a real diary. Turns out it's a first-person novel." He had no interest in reading this and focused his gaze on a folder labeled "Photo Library," wanting to see what photos Ms. Gao had stored.

Opening it, none of the women in the photos were Ms. Gao. Then he remembered that Ms. Gao had told him this computer wasn't hers.

The woman in the photos was dressed in black, her attire similar to a qipao. Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, and there was a heroic air about her.

She looked very familiar, and in a daze, he couldn't recall where he had seen her before.

He closed the computer and called Lei Wenxiu in. "Please return this computer to Secretary Gao in the President's office. Tell her not to log into any questionable websites in the future. Also, the previous USB drives might have viruses, so tell her not to plug them into this computer anymore. If any USB drive contains important data, tell her to bring it to me, and I'll handle it for her."

Lei Wenxiu picked up the computer. Xiao Xun, worried, asked, "Did you remember everything I just told you?"

She nodded. Xiao Xun asked her to repeat it. She pouted, twisting her body with displeasure. "I really remembered! Isn't it just telling Secretary Gao not to plug in USB drives randomly?"

Seeing Lei Wenxiu about to leave after saying this, Xiao Xun raised an eyebrow. "And then?"
