Chapter 26 Just Him

Lan Yan, upon hearing about the events at the Liu Manor, excitedly slammed the table. "Good, that Liu Tingting always looking for trouble, it'll be much quieter now."

Beside her, Jun Ye Lan merely drank his tea, his face unperturbed. However, when he saw Lan Yan so happy, a slight curve appeared on his lips, only to vanish immediately.

Chun Tao, from outside the door, walked in and announced, "Miss, a worker from the blacksmith's just came with news, saying they have materials for making hidden weapons. They asked if you still need them?"

Lan Yan looked at Jun Ye Lan. Seeing him nod, she said, "Good. Jun Ye Lan and I will go to the shop later to select them carefully."

"Yes, Miss." Chun Tao left to relay the message to the worker at the door.

Lan Yan and Jun Ye Lan then went out and visited the blacksmith's. Just as they returned to the entrance, a man lunged towards them. Lan Yan quickly stepped back and shouted, "Who's there?"

The man had a delicate face and a pale complexion, as if he would fall with a gust of wind.

He knelt on the ground, clutching one of Lan Yan's legs, and pleaded pitifully, "Miss, I am also a man of the Snake Clan. Please take me in!"

Lan Yan: "..." Did she look like such a pushover! She tried hard to pull the man away, but couldn't. "Young master, speak properly. Let go of me first."

"No, I won't let go." The man cried, "My name is Du Yin. I originally had fields and a house, but I was conscripted as a laborer. Later, I drifted into the human realm. I haven't eaten for days. I heard you like men of the Snake Clan, so why not take me in?"

He raised his head, his face full of sorrow. "I can do anything."

Lan Yan felt increasingly uneasy. "What do you mean, I like men of the Snake Clan?"

"Isn't he proof! Miss, everyone knows about you and the Snake Clan slave. Since he can be, I naturally can too." Du Yin pointed at Jun Ye Lan.

Lan Yan looked over and indeed saw Jun Ye Lan's expression turn cold. This suddenly appearing Du Yin was truly ruining the relationship she had painstakingly built with Jun Ye Lan.

Saying it this way implied she was a promiscuous person, and only treated Jun Ye Lan well because he was of the Snake Clan. She quickly explained, "You've misunderstood. It's not because of his clan, but because he is Jun Ye Lan."

"I am only good to Jun Ye Lan."

After speaking, she secretly glanced at Jun Ye Lan's expression, which hadn't improved. She was about to say more, but Du Yin held on even tighter.

Du Yin continued to wail, "Miss, you always bought men of the Snake Clan into the manor before. Why don't you want me now? I specifically came here to wait for you. Moreover, I admire you."

Lan Yan's eyes widened in shock, almost wanting to vomit blood. This person really dared to say anything. Given the original owner's personality, she would never believe him.

But Du Yin spoke louder and louder, attracting many passersby to watch.

The passersby muttered amongst themselves, "Isn't that Miss Lan? She's known for her cruelty and her love for handsome men. This man looks good; he'll likely be taken into the manor nine times out of ten."

"After all, why enjoy a single flower when you can wander through a garden?" They looked at Jun Ye Lan and laughed maliciously.

Lan Yan, hearing their increasingly outrageous remarks, lost her patience. She said with slight anger, "Young Master Du, I've made myself clear. I won't take you in. If you don't let go, don't blame me for using force."

She didn't want to act in front of so many people, but this person was going too far.

Du Yin's eyes flickered, contemplating his next move. However, in the next moment, he was kicked away.

The one who kicked him was Jun Ye Lan.

Jun Ye Lan stood in front of Du Yin, subtly revealing the fine threads on his wrist. His eyes were filled with coldness and a hint of killing intent. Staring at Du Yin like this was enough to make him fearful.

Lan Yan, behind him, was genuinely surprised. She had just been about to take out her whip, but didn't expect Jun Ye Lan to act before her. Moreover, she noticed that Jun Ye Lan had become much more skilled than before, which was truly a great thing.

Du Yin, suddenly struck, showed calculation in his eyes. As Jun Ye Lan approached again, he instinctively retreated, adopting a defensive posture.

Jun Ye Lan's eyes narrowed. This person was no ordinary man of the Snake Clan. His kick had targeted a vulnerable spot, but Du Yin was unharmed and even knew how to attack; he was a trained fighter.

Du Yin had also mentioned earlier that he had served in the army, which suggested he was prepared.

He turned, took Lan Yan's wrist, and moved her to the side, telling her all his discoveries.

Lan Yan indeed suspected Du Yin and was now more certain. She said in a low voice, "Someone is behind him. Let's put on a show and have him lead us to that person."

She slightly curved her lips.

Jun Ye Lan, seeing Lan Yan's cunning eyes, nodded.

So, Lan Yan cleared her throat and deliberately shouted, "Oh my, I think that young Master Du is handsome and much more obedient than you. Perhaps I should take him into the manor."

Jun Ye Lan said in a cold tone, "Very well. But if he is in this manor, I am not." A layer of anger clouded his features as he flicked his sleeve and walked towards the manor.

Seeing this, Lan Yan felt like giving Jun Ye Lan a thumbs-up. His acting was superb. She almost believed it herself. She turned around, looked at Du Yin's secretly smirking lips, and said with a smile, "Young Master Du, please come in."

"Thank you, Miss." Du Yin followed her in and was assigned to a larger courtyard. After thanking Chun Tao for escorting him, he closed the door, his smile turning sinister.

"I thought it would take more effort. I didn't expect this Lan Yan to be a lustful simpleton, and Jun Ye Lan to be nothing special either." His master was being too cautious.

Meanwhile, in Lan Yan's room, she looked at Jun Ye Lan and said, "The act we put on at the door just now made him lower his guard. But tonight, we need to put on another show to make him completely believe us."

"When he makes his move, we will follow."

"Yes." Jun Ye Lan fell into thought. This sudden appearance of Du Yin might be related to the person who harmed him. He clenched his fist. That person really wouldn't let him off!

Lan Yan noticed Jun Ye Lan's mood shift and said, "Are you bothered by what I said just now? That was all fake, but what I said at the beginning was true. I am only good to you."

Jun Ye Lan's thoughts were interrupted. He actually wanted to tell Lan Yan that he was not alright, but seeing Lan Yan's expression, he couldn't bring himself to say it. In the end, he simply said, "Let's rest."

"Oh." Lan Yan glanced at Jun Ye Lan, then leaned on the table, closing her eyes. But she didn't truly fall asleep, thinking about the lines for the next scene.

When evening came, Chun Tao, following her orders, went to call Du Yin to her room.

Du Yin opened the door, and upon hearing Chun Tao's relayed message, an irrepressible smile appeared in his eyes. It seemed his plan was progressing smoothly. He followed Chun Tao to Lan Yan's courtyard.
