Chapter 43 He Is Going Back

Lan Yan was completely stunned, not knowing what had happened. When Jun Yelan released her, she touched her lips, the sensation from before not an illusion!

This meant Jun Yelan had kissed her! Her mind exploded. She was flustered and, with rosy cheeks, dared not look at him. "Um, it's late, you should take your things and go," she said.

Damn, she had forgotten what she was originally going to say.

Seeing this, Jun Yelan's lips curved into a deep smile. He was afraid of scaring Lan Yan, so he withdrew his hand and said, "Alright, I'll be going then."

"Mhm." Lan Yan saw Jun Yelan out and immediately closed the door, leaning against it. She covered her wildly beating heart and started giggling to herself.

Jun Yelan, hearing her laughter outside, walked lightly to the next door. He tidied up the items Lan Yan had given him and took out the stuffed doll he had previously given her.

He kept the snake tribe doll and packed the human tribe doll.

The next morning, Lan Yan woke up and, thinking of Jun Yelan leaving today, couldn't help but sigh.

Even Spring Peach, standing beside her, noticed. "Miss, you didn't sleep well last night?"

"Mhm." Lan Yan spent the first half of the night thinking about Jun Yelan kissing her, and the second half thinking about him leaving, resulting in a sleepless night. She had even woken up early to prepare some food for his journey, intending to give it to him.

Spring Peach then applied makeup to Lan Yan to improve her complexion. "Miss, why don't you catch up on some sleep?" She had never seen her miss look like this before.

"No need, I still have things to do." Lan Yan placed a floral ornament on her forehead, picked up the food basket, and headed out.

However, she ran into her good father.

General Lan looked at Lan Yan coldly and said, "Can't you walk properly! Also, Jun Yelan is leaving today, you are not allowed to see him off."

"Why?" Lan Yan asked, puzzled.

General Lan could not reveal Jun Yelan's feelings, so he simply said, "You still haven't finished the embroidery I asked you to do last time. Stay in your room."

He walked along the corridor and turned back to reiterate, "I will see him off at the gate, don't you dare sneak out." He looked at his daughter, feeling a headache, whether it was before or now, she never gave him peace of mind.

Seeing her plan exposed, Lan Yan turned to look at Spring Peach beside her and narrowed her eyes.

Spring Peach: Why does Miss's eyes look strange?

About fifteen minutes later, at the main gate. Jun Yelan, leading his horse, anxiously looked into the mansion but never saw the familiar figure.

The guards behind him found it difficult to rush him.

Seeing Lan Yan's continued absence, Jun Yelan couldn't help but worry. He wanted to enter the mansion but saw a figure, a smile appearing on his lips. However, upon seeing it was General Lan, his smile immediately turned cold.

"General Jun, it's getting late, aren't you leaving?" General Lan, seeing Jun Yelan looking towards the gate, said, "I've had her embroidering in her room, she won't be coming out."

Jun Yelan's eyes darkened. "General Lan, she is your daughter after all. I hope you will take good care of her. Otherwise, I will return anytime." He did not want Lan Yan to suffer any grievances.

General Lan also said, "My daughter, I will take good care of her. As for you, hurry and leave. If you stay any longer, my Lan Manor will not be safe."

Seeing this, Jun Yelan tightened the reins, reluctantly withdrew his gaze, and prepared to mount his horse.

"Wait a moment."

He heard a peculiar sound, turned his head, and saw someone wearing Spring Peach's clothes, but with a veil. He curved his lips, the coldness in his eyes disappearing.

The person approached Jun Yelan. It was Lan Yan in disguise. She lowered her voice and handed him the food basket, coughing, "My lady asked me to give this to you. My lady also said to wish Master Jun well."

"Alright, please tell your young lady that I remember everything she said, including what she said while drunk." Jun Yelan smiled, took the food basket, and mounted his horse.

Lan Yan muttered inwardly, "What did I say when I was drunk!"

She watched Jun Yelan leave just like this, then turned to meet General Lan's gaze and coughed twice. "This servant has caught a cold, I shall take my leave." She walked back.

General Lan: "..." Forget it, this old father won't expose her.

Jun Yelan, leaving the Lan Manor, couldn't help but look back. Seeing no sign of the figure he wanted to see, he looked forward. He opened the food basket and saw the rabbit-shaped pastries on the top layer, a smile rising to his lips.

Before, when he went to battle, he had no worries or fears. But this time, he was different. He wanted to live and return to find Lan Yan. He gently held the pastries and murmured, "Yan'er, I will return."

With that said, he sped up and headed towards the Snake Tribe, where his battlefield lay.

Meanwhile, inside the Lan Manor, Lan Yan sat at the table, propping her head. "Now that Jun Yelan is gone, what about my mission?" She was so worried she felt like her hair was turning white.

System: "Host, you can go find him. Don't forget, you are not the real Lan Yan."

"Right." Lan Yan slapped the table abruptly. "I'll pack my things and follow him." Excitedly, she took out a cloth, packing her clothes and food.

She then found the jade bracelet by her pillow, which Jun Yelan had given her, and carefully put it on her wrist. This way, she wouldn't have to worry about losing it.

She then looked around again, checking if she had missed anything, and noticed a snake tribe doll by her window. It must have been placed there by Jun Yelan that morning.

"I'll take this too." Finally, she left a note, slung her small pack over her shoulder, crept to the door, and slipped out of the manor.

After she left, Spring Peach discovered the note and cried out, "Oh no, Miss has left."

The people of the Lan Manor immediately gathered in her room.

Lan Yan, riding a horse, traveled on the main road outside the city. She lifted her veil and looked at the endless road ahead, asking, "System, are you sure this is the right way?"

System: "Please trust the system's capabilities, Host."

Lan Yan: "..." She hadn't noticed this system had any capabilities, other than feeding her motivational quotes. Bored, she picked a blade of grass by the roadside and nudged her horse forward.

After an unknown amount of time, she finally saw tents and soldiers recruiting people. She walked over, glanced at the notice board, which was recruiting cooks and doctors.

She wasn't very good at either. She asked, "Big brother, I've been a doctor's assistant, can I go in?"

The soldier looked up. It was a woman wearing a veil, and when his gaze fell on her legs, his eyes showed surprise.

He said, "There are medicines on this table. If you can identify them all, you can enter."

"Okay, I'll try." Lan Yan picked up the medicinal herbs and examined them carefully. Fortunately, she had seen them all at Doctor Lin's place and identified them successfully.

The soldier's eyes showed a hint of admiration. "Go in, head to the military doctor's office."

Lan Yan immediately smiled, "Thank you, big brother." She followed the route and heard a commotion behind her.

"The General is back, make way!" A soldier was directing from behind.

Jun Yelan, dressed in armor, rode in coldly.

Seeing this, Lan Yan obediently stood aside and raised her head to glance.
