Lin Feng sent Xu Lin a WeChat message after leaving the Hua Family Manor.
“Miss Xu, I heard you are also in the capital. How about we meet up? You can show me around the capital?” Lin Feng asked.
“Mr. Lin, do you mean you are also in the capital?” Xu Lin asked in surprise. Since they last parted, she had felt a great deal of apology towards Lin Feng. After all, Lin Feng had saved her from Tang Xian Sheng, and she hadn’t even said thank you. Looking back now, she felt she had been truly heartless.
“Yes, I just arrived today and plan to explore the capital. But I’m unfamiliar with the place and urgently need a guide,” Lin Feng replied.
“Alright, but I’m a bit tied up right now. I’m volunteering at an orphanage. Please wait until I’m done,” Xu Lin explained a little sheepishly.
“No problem. Which orphanage are you at? I’ll come find you. I can spend some time playing with the children too,” Lin Feng offered.
“Okay then, I’ll send you the address.” Xu Lin couldn’t refuse Lin Feng and sent the orphanage’s address to his phone.
Soon, Lin Feng arrived at the entrance of an orphanage called Huixin. The orphanage occupied a large area, resembling a small elementary school. As Lin Feng walked in, he saw a group of innocent and cheerful children playing on the football field from a distance.
“Brother-in-law, over here!” As Lin Feng looked around, Xu Zhe, dressed in casual wear, waved from the entrance of the teaching building.
“Brother-in-law, my sister is teaching the children. She asked me to come out and greet you,” Xu Zhe said with a grin. He had been worried that Lin Feng might give up on pursuing his sister. To his surprise, Lin Feng had followed them to the capital as soon as his sister arrived. It seemed Lin Feng was quite patient with his sister.
“Does your sister come here often?” Lin Feng asked, walking into the teaching building with Xu Zhe.
“Yes, every time my sister comes to the capital for filming, she volunteers at the orphanage,” Xu Zhe replied truthfully. “And my sister always buys many gifts for the children.”
“Your sister is truly a good woman. It’s rare to find someone so compassionate,” Lin Feng expressed his admiration for Xu Lin’s character. If it were other celebrities, they would publicize their good deeds for orphanages extensively. But Xu Lin, seeking neither fame nor profit, genuinely wanted to contribute to society. Such a good woman was truly hard to come by!
“Brother-in-law, you’re absolutely right. I feel there isn’t any woman under heaven better than my sister,” Xu Zhe said. “Don’t mind my usual wild and extravagant behavior outside, but if anyone dares to bully my sister, I will fight them to the death. My parents died early, and it wasn’t easy for my sister to raise me. If you and my sister end up together in the future, please treat her well.” Xu Zhe’s eyes began to well up with tears as he spoke.
“Don’t talk nonsense. Your sister and I are just good friends. I don’t have any romantic feelings for her,” Lin Feng couldn’t help but clarify.
“I don’t believe you. We’re both men, I understand,” Xu Zhe said. “You say you’re friends, but is there really pure friendship between men and women? Brother-in-law, stop deceiving yourself. If you like my sister, be bolder. I’ll help you.” Xu Zhe chuckled, completely disbelieving that Lin Feng had no interest in his sister. His sister was a goddess in the hearts of countless men; anyone with taste would be attracted to her.
Lin Feng didn’t bother to explain further. It was normal for Xu Zhe to not believe him, after all, he and Xu Lin had been getting too close recently. Anyone would misunderstand. And Xu Zhe was quite right in saying that pure friendships between men and women seemed to be non-existent in this world.
Soon, led by Xu Zhe, Lin Feng arrived at the classroom door where Xu Lin was teaching. Inside the classroom, a dozen or so five and six-year-old orphans were seated. Xu Lin stood patiently on the podium, teaching the children to recognize numbers. She wore a pure white short-sleeved shirt and light blue jeans. Her long, ink-black hair was neatly spread behind her, and a faint smile graced her beautiful face. Lin Feng stood at the doorway and watched quietly, noticing that Xu Lin was radiating youthfulness at that moment, like a young girl in her early twenties, appearing exceptionally relaxed.
As the dismissal bell rang, Xu Lin concluded her lesson. After class, the children joyfully swarmed around Xu Lin. Xu Lin patiently helped each child straighten their messy clothes.
“Sis, your brother-in-law is here.” Xu Zhe brought Lin Feng in. Hearing Xu Zhe still call Lin Feng brother-in-law, Xu Lin felt a pang, but said nothing.
“Mr. Lin, I’m sorry. I was really busy today, making you come all the way here to find me,” Xu Lin said apologetically, crouching down with a small boy in her arms.
“It’s fine. I actually enjoy being close to children,” Lin Feng said, reaching out to pinch the chubby little boy in Xu Lin’s arms. The boy was about four or five years old, chubby and very cute. It was a pity that such a young child had been abandoned by his parents. As Xu Lin adjusted the little boy’s pants, the boy’s restless little hands began to grope at Xu Lin’s chest.
“Xiao Zhi, don’t touch sister like that. Boys need to maintain distance from girls. If you touch like this, you’ll get a spanking,” Xu Lin said, feigning displeasure.
“No, I want to touch. Please, sister, open it,” the little boy pouted pitifully, fumbling at the front of Xu Lin’s clothes, as if trying to reach her breast.
“You can’t open it. You’re a big boy now, no touching,” Xu Lin’s face turned red. With Lin Feng present, she felt embarrassed.
“Xiao Zhi, you can touch brother’s. I’ll let you touch. Don’t touch sister,” Xu Zhe scooped the little boy into his arms, pulled up his shirt, and gestured for the boy to touch him.
“I don’t want to touch brother’s. Brother’s isn’t as soft as sister’s,” the little boy said dismissively, pulling down Xu Zhe’s shirt. Lin Feng couldn’t help but chuckle at the boy’s adorable behavior.
“Miss Xu, if it’s really not possible, just let him touch. I think he might be missing his mother,” Lin Feng teased with a smile. His words caused not only Xu Lin to pause but also Xu Zhe to look bewildered.
