Lin Feng extended a hand, a spent bullet casing in his palm.
"What's going on? Shoot him dead!" Tang Xiansheng roared in disbelief.
Bang bang bang!
The two mercenaries, sensing something deeply unsettling, pulled their triggers repeatedly.
As if predicting the trajectory of each bullet, Lin Feng strolled towards Tang Xiansheng, casually shifting his body. These seemingly nonchalant movements artfully dodged every shot.
"Useless! Let me!" Tang Xiansheng, growing desperate, snatched a shotgun from a mercenary and fired twice at Lin Feng.
Unsurprisingly, Lin Feng evaded them with ease. He had now reached Tang Xiansheng.
Seeing this, the two mercenaries immediately drew their daggers and lunged at Lin Feng.
Lin Feng, unwilling to waste time, kicked them both away with a single stomp. He then grabbed Tang Xiansheng by the neck and delivered several powerful knee strikes to his abdomen.
"Ahhh!" Tang Xiansheng cried out in agony, blood trickling from the corners of his mouth.
"Mr. Tang, do you still think you're so tough?" Lin Feng asked with a smile, looking at Tang Xiansheng.
Tang Xiansheng had lost all his earlier bravado, wilting like a frost-bitten eggplant. "You… what do you want? Let me go, and I'll agree to any conditions." Tang Xiansheng wasn't foolish; he saw that Lin Feng was unfazed even by a shotgun, and he had lost all control. He could also sense that Lin Feng wouldn't let him off easily.
"You are not in a position to negotiate. Your next life will be as a living dead," Lin Feng said, placing a palm on Tang Xiansheng's head as Tang Xiansheng looked on, bewildered. A sharp surge of true qi infiltrated Tang Xiansheng's brain. Tang Xiansheng began to convulse violently, then stiffly collapsed onto the ground.
Having finished, Lin Feng approached Xu Lin, who stared in stunned silence, and untied the ropes binding her. "Let's go, you're safe now," he said gently, reassuring her as he pulled the dazed Xu Lin away.
It wasn't until they were out of the abandoned building that Xu Lin began to recover from her terror. Just then, Xu Zhe's car arrived.
"Sis, are you okay?" Xu Zhe rushed forward, his concern evident as he put a hand on Xu Lin's arm, seeing his sister safely escorted out by Lin Feng.
"I'm fine, let's go home," Xu Lin replied. Her emotions were complex; the events of moments ago were too terrifying for any normal woman to process.
"Brother-in-law, what about Tang Xiansheng? Is he dealt with?" Xu Zhe asked, wishing he could tear Tang Xiansheng to shreds. His use of "brother-in-law" immediately caught Xu Lin's attention.
"Xiao Zhe, what did you call him?" Xu Lin asked, frowning.
"Brother-in-law, you're my sister, so he's naturally my brother-in-law," Xu Zhe stated readily. After this ordeal, he was even more convinced of Lin Feng's status as his brother-in-law. Xu Lin's frown deepened. She already didn't know how to face Lin Feng, and Xu Zhe's words only made it more awkward.
Lin Feng, noticing Xu Lin's discomfort, smiled. "Miss Xu, don't listen to your brother's nonsense. He's just calling out randomly. I have no other intentions towards you." He continued, "Tang Xiansheng's problem started because of me, and it's my responsibility to resolve it. You don't need to feel indebted to me." He added, "Xu Zhe, your sister is shaken. Take her home to rest. I'll handle the rest." Lin Feng actively tried to ease the atmosphere.
"Okay, brother-in-law. Thank you for your trouble," Xu Zhe nodded, pulling Xu Lin along. As Xu Lin got into Xu Zhe's car, she looked back at Lin Feng outside, her heart in turmoil. Recalling the recent events, she felt as if it were a dream. Lin Feng could dodge bullets and had turned Tang Xiansheng into a living dead. Not only was his medical skill superb, but his combat prowess was also monstrous. What was his true background?
Xu Lin was intensely curious about Lin Feng's secrets and knew she owed him a great deal. To Lin Feng's surprise, rescuing Xu Lin this time did not change her favorability towards him.
