Chapter 8 Ability Upgrade

Since he wasn't planning on going back, Guo Xuyang booked a room at the hotel, intending to stay there permanently.

Yes, one room. Don't get any funny ideas. Xiao Yun wasn't staying at the hotel. With her best friend around, why would she need a hotel?

After settling into his room, Guo Xuyang began to repeatedly test his abilities. Since his powers had manifested that morning, he hadn't truly explored them.

He gazed into the distance, and the wall in front of him seemed to fade away. He saw two people on a bed, engaged in some intimate activities, which was a bit too much for his eyes. He quickly shifted his gaze, feeling his vision could penetrate three to four houses.

The little ability sprite was absolutely right. At the beginner level, the range was only ten meters. Ten meters was already incredibly powerful; he'd earned over two billion in a single morning, something he'd never even dared to imagine before.

He wondered if there were any other abilities. Never mind, he should focus on upgrading first. He wanted to see the effects of upgrading his ability.

"Upgrade the ability 'Perspective'," he silently commanded.

"Ding… Congratulations, Host, on the successful upgrade of your Perspective ability," Yu'er's voice echoed in his mind. "This upgrade allows you to see through illusions and perceive all things within a hundred-meter radius."

What the heck was an illusion? A hundred meters? Wouldn't that mean he could see everything underground? Then why would he need a shop to do business? He could just go treasure hunting! Guo Xuyang thought gleefully.

He focused his vision and looked upwards.

What was this? Unlucky. A large, fat man was squatting on the toilet, browsing his phone.

Damn, it was so disgusting that he almost threw up the meal he had just eaten.

He still needed to adapt. His eyes getting better would definitely bring both good and bad. Not only could he see beautiful legs, but he could also see many unspeakable things.

He scanned the surroundings. From his room, he could see the white clouds in the sky; he could see a couple arguing across the way; he could see the chefs in the restaurant kitchen downstairs stir-frying dishes. This feeling was truly marvelous, making him feel like an immortal, someone who could predict everything with a snap of his fingers.

Wahaha, wahaha! He wouldn't trade being an immortal for anything.

After watching for a while, he felt that this ability was truly incredible and couldn't help but want to exchange for more abilities.

"Yu'er, what abilities can I exchange for now?" Guo Xuyang asked.

"Host can exchange for Perception, Storage, and Transformation. You can also exchange for Bodybuilding, Dance, Music, Art, Combat, and so on. You can exchange for anything you desire," Yu'er said, counting them off on her little fingers.

Bodybuilding, Dance, Music, and Art were out. He didn't want to develop in those directions.

"Tell me more about Perception, Storage, Transformation, and Combat."

"Perception allows you to sense the thoughts and feelings of all things in the world, to detect danger in advance and avoid risks. Storage allows you to put anything you want into your mental space. Transformation allows you to change into any shape, be it a bird, a beast, or anything in the world. Combat allows you to use any skill you wish to use, whether it's a saber, halberd, sword, or spear, or even planes and ships..." Yu'er chattered on, becoming more enthusiastic as she spoke.

Guo Xuyang, however, grew more bewildered as he listened. These abilities were not just a little bit stronger than Perspective; they were far superior. He had to exchange for them. He couldn't wait any longer.

"I want to exchange for all of them," Guo Xuyang declared.

"I'm sorry, Host, but you can only exchange for one ability per day. Today you can exchange for any one, but only one. Of course, you can exchange for one each subsequent day, provided you have enough merit points," Little Yu'er explained.

"How can I exchange for all of them?" Guo Xuyang asked, a little disappointed.

"Exchange for all? One per day. If you want to exchange for all of them, it would take about a hundred years," Little Yu'er said, unable to count on her fingers anymore, she could only use one finger to indicate.

Good heavens, what kind of system was this? A hundred years? That's 36,500 days! How many merit points would it take for so many abilities?

However, Yu'er seemed to have misunderstood his intention of exchanging for all. Fine, he'd just exchange one by one. He had plenty of time anyway.

"What should I exchange for today? Yu'er, can you recommend one for me?" Guo Xuyang asked.

"I'm sorry, Host, I cannot recommend anything for you. The system does not allow me to make recommendations," Little Yu'er said plaintively.

"Then never mind, I won't trouble you. I'll exchange for the Combat ability today. I need to protect myself. If I kick the bucket, I won't be able to enjoy the good life. Wouldn't that be a betrayal of the blessings from my abilities?" Guo Xuyang said.

Little Yu'er giggled. This Host was so humorous.

"Ding… Congratulations, Host, on successfully exchanging for the Combat ability. Host is now at Beginner level for Combat ability. Each level up requires one thousand merit points, and the highest level is nine. At level nine, you can use all skills in the universe."

The universe? Forget it. He was fine here on Earth and didn't want anything to do with the universe. Outer space was too dangerous. His life was more important, he thought.

At this moment, a flood of information entered his mind. Piloting, boxing, swordsmanship, sabersmanship, ghost taming, Taoist arts, escape, tracking, stealth, assassination, covert operations… It was truly all-encompassing; there was nothing he couldn't do.

In an instant, he felt his body become exceptionally powerful, as if with every move, he could destroy heaven and earth. What was it like? Like the Calabash Brothers. That was the only comparison he could think of.

He suddenly felt a little scared, wondering why the abilities had chosen him and what the future held. If what the ability sprite, Little Yu'er, said was true, his time on Earth might not be very long.

To hell with it! When you're dead, you're dead. Live life to the fullest. Live one day at a time, and enjoy each day.

As he pondered this, he drifted off to sleep.

"Ring ring," the phone's ringtone woke him. Without opening his eyes, he groggily reached for the phone. "Hello? Who is it?"

"You lazy pig, what time is it? Still sleeping?" Xiao Yun's loud voice boomed in his ear.

He couldn't help but pull the phone away.

"Sister, dear sister, I'm still a patient, okay? Can you pity me and let me sleep a little longer?"

"It's not that I don't care about you, but look at the time? The sun has already set. The people you promised something this morning are here."

Guo Xuyang was a bit confused. Promised something? He was still half-asleep, and his mind hadn't caught up yet.

"What did I promise? Who did I promise?"

"I think you're really sleep-addled. Get up, pee, clear your head, and think properly," Xiao Yun shouted.

Alas, there are guests. Can you be a bit more reserved? Image, image! Sister, can you be a bit more ladylike?

Chen Hailing's voice came through the phone.

"Guests? Promised something?" Guo Xuyang rolled out of bed. "What did I promise? I really forgot. Hurry up and tell me, or I'm hanging up."

As he spoke, he walked towards the bathroom, pulled out his "tool," and started peeing, completely disregarding the fact that the call was still connected.

"Pervert." Hearing the sound, Xiao Yun's face turned red. She couldn't help but curse.

Only then did he remember the call was still active.

"What is it? Tell me quickly. I thought you hung up," Guo Xuyang said, his old face flushing. He really hadn't paid attention just now.
