Chapter 86 Turning hostile is faster than turning pages!

In the morning, Ye Cangtian drove Tang Xinwan to her company.

He had promised this girl he’d go to work properly today, but before he’d even settled into the security booth, he received a call from Xu Weiwei asking him to come to the police station.

With no other option, he informed Old Zhang, who was on duty, that he couldn’t make it to work today.

Although Old Zhang was old, he was sharp. He knew Ye Cangtian had a close relationship with the chairman, so he readily agreed.

After all, hadn’t he seen the guy driving the chairman’s car around all the time?

Ten minutes later!

Ye Cangtian arrived at the police station by car. He was now practically a regular here. As soon as he walked into the main hall, a police officer greeted him proactively.

“Brother Ye is here? Looking for our Captain Xu? She’s in the interrogation room!”

“Little Liu, is there another case?” Ye Cangtian tossed him a cigarette and asked with a smile.

The police officer took the cigarette and casually replied, “A small case. There was a brawl at the train station this morning. That guy was quite fierce; he took down more than ten hooligans from the station.”

Ye Cangtian smiled. There was no shortage of tough guys in this world; many could take on more than ten opponents.

“Then you get back to your work. I’ll wait for her in her office!” Ye Cangtian nodded and continued inside.

Little Liu hesitated but didn’t stop him. He knew very well that his Captain Xu had a close relationship with Ye Cangtian, who had helped the police solve problems multiple times.

Furthermore, the person Captain Xu mentioned most often recently was Ye Cangtian. So, the colleagues in the bureau had long been privately speculating about their relationship.

Xu Weiwei’s office was directly opposite the interrogation room.

As Ye Cangtian walked towards it, the door of the interrogation room opened.

“We’ll let this matter slide. You acted in self-defense, so we won’t detain you. Just be more careful in the future!”

Xu Weiwei emerged from inside, followed by a burly man.

This burly man was very tall, wearing a crumpled grey shirt and carrying a tattered canvas bag. His hands were covered in calluses, clearly indicating he was a simple farmer.

He scratched the back of his head and asked honestly, “But they stole my money, and I haven’t gotten it back yet!”

Xu Weiwei sighed, looked at him, and took a deep breath. “We investigated. The people who stole your wallet were a different group. There are all sorts of people on trains. Those guys have already disappeared. Be more vigilant next time you travel by train!”

The honest, burly man looked dejected and didn’t know what to say.

Seeing Ye Cangtian approach, Xu Weiwei then told a colleague taking notes behind her, “Take Li Dazhuang to go through the procedures. Ye Cangtian, come to my office for a moment!”

In the office!

“You called me here for something?” Ye Cangtian sat down on the sofa, not acting like an outsider at all.

Xu Weiwei gritted her teeth. This sofa was where she usually took a short nap during her lunch break.

However, she couldn’t be bothered to argue with him; arguing with this guy was a pure waste of time.

“Yesterday’s case has been investigated. The deceased, along with twenty other individuals, were all members of an overseas assassin organization. The identity of the sole survivor has also been confirmed; he is a quasi-S-class assassin from the Sky Net assassin organization, codenamed ‘Flying Dagger’.”

This was what Xu Weiwei found out after bringing Li Xiaoyang back yesterday and combining it with information from her superiors.

With the infiltration of overseas assassins into China, the higher authorities attached great importance to this matter. Therefore, their branch bureau had already upgraded this case to a top investigative priority.

According to their investigation, the police had initial data indicating that there were twenty-five assassins in this group. Twenty had died, and one had been apprehended.

This meant that four more assassins were still lurking within Yangzhou.

Xu Weiwei looked at Ye Cangtian, her brow furrowed slightly. “I’m very curious, how did you discover their identities? And what is their relationship with you? Why would they target you?”

Ye Cangtian blinked in surprise. “He didn’t say?”

Xu Weiwei snorted and pouted, “That guy refused to say anything about his purpose in coming to China, even under torture.”

Ye Cangtian nodded. These assassins were all professionally trained. Once caught, they would either commit suicide or remain tight-lipped, making it difficult to get them to talk.

It seemed Li Xiaoyang hadn’t revealed Gu Yue’s identity.

“These assassins might be targeting me! After all, you know, someone as outstanding as me is bound to attract jealousy wherever I go!” Ye Cangtian said helplessly.

“As for their identities, it’s not hard to guess. People of various nationalities were among them, and they were clearly well-trained. That’s why I suspected they were overseas assassins.”

“Really?” Xu Weiwei frowned.

She didn’t believe that the matter was as simple as he claimed! After all, his identity remained a mystery to her.

However, the most important thing now was to apprehend the remaining four assassins. After all, they were a ruthless group of killers lurking in Yangzhou, posing a significant threat to the safety of the citizens.

Of course, Xu Weiwei didn’t know that according to the information, only three of the remaining four assassins were considered a threat.

The other one was Gu Yue, who was already injured.

Xu Weiwei had hoped to get some clues from him, but it seemed she couldn’t count on it.

She glanced at Ye Cangtian and instructed, “Since they might be targeting you, be careful recently. By the way, why wasn’t Gu Yue home yesterday?”

“Oh, her? She rented a place and moved out!” Ye Cangtian replied with a smile.

Xu Weiwei frowned, finding it somewhat strange. She had always been suspicious of the relationship between Gu Yue and Ye Cangtian.

Especially when she had smelled a familiar scent on Gu Yue that day, a scent she had detected in Ye Cangtian’s bedroom the previous month.

It was precisely because she had smelled a woman’s perfume in Ye Cangtian’s room that she had suspected he might have been visiting prostitutes at night.

Ye Cangtian had no idea why Xu Weiwei’s expression suddenly changed. He hadn’t said much in her office before she kicked him out.

That woman changed her mind faster than flipping a book!

Ye Cangtian walked out of the police station helplessly, then took out his phone to call Gu Yue.

Now that the Chinese authorities had focused on these overseas assassins, the remaining three quasi-S-class assassins would definitely try to find her as soon as possible.

Even though Gu Yue was currently in a relatively safe place, these assassins had many tracking methods and might soon find her location.

The call went through, but no one answered!

This made Ye Cangtian’s expression serious. He tried calling a few more times, but still, no one answered.

“Could she have already gotten into trouble?”

Ye Cangtian’s face darkened, and he quickly got into his car.

As soon as he drove out of the police station, he noticed a car following him from a distance behind. Clearly, someone was tracking him.

Ever since he left the seaside teahouse yesterday, a group of tails had been following him.

However, he wasn’t in the mood to deal with them now. He had to rush to the courtyard house that Qin Yiyu had bought.

Perhaps Gu Yue had indeed gotten into trouble!
