Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Problem Solved!
Sophie finally got a glimpse of the man’s true face whom she had believed in for so long.
The mask had fallen off entirely his face, with only selfish greed remaining.
Alex who observing quietly smiled softly at that knowing fully that his plan was successful.
Alienation strategy had worked.
Nothing hurts more than the betrayal made by someone whom you trust the most.
As the ancients put it, wealth is capable of making even devils bow to its might.
And Truth comes at a painful price to those who do not have it.
"Shut up!" Sophie’s voice was choking.
"You! You disgust me!" Her eyes grew cold steel, a freezing rejection that immobilized Vicky in his tracks.
"Sophie ..." Vicky’s voice broke still in act trying to look hurt. He did not dare to speak loudly, as he felt her trust fading away from him.
Sophie glared and spoke once more, bitterness in her tone. "Vicky, you were willing to give me to this rich man for just some money?
Fine! I will grant you your wish at once!"
With no hesitation, she grasped the money filled suitcase.
She rushed furiously to Alex’s Bentley and sat herself on the passenger seat, her face twisted with tears and anger.
Vicky panicked when he saw her take the money. His shaking hands screamed in desperation, "Hey, hey, leave the money! That’s my money!"
Seeing him still rushing after money rather than her, whatever last shred of hope left in her heart finally broke.
In his eyes, she saw no love but only lust for money. It was never about her, but what she was carrying.
"Vicky," she wept bitterly, "you never loved me. You deceived me, toyed with my emotions, and swindled my savings. From today on, I draw a line between us. We are done!"
Her tears flowed as she spun around towards Alex. "Sir please, let’s go! From today onwards, I’m yours!"
Alex held the wheel tightly, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
This was not what he had anticipated.
This was not what he had planned.
He had only intended to drive a wedge between the two. Sophie was now sitting beside him, her loyalty converted to desperate surrender, he didn’t want that.
He was expecting her to feel broken, and she might just turn around and escape from here.
But he knew he had overestimated the influence of money. While his plan succeeded, the consequences were different.
Sophie, shattered but resolute, had picked him as her refuge. That reality weighed heavily on his chest.
After all, she had once been his friend’s girlfriend.
Now, her tearful face had left him torn between victory and discomfort, unsure of how to proceed with this from here on.
Just when Alex was still wavering on what to do, commotion started gathering around them.
The angry debate and the spectacle of a suitcase full of money had attracted curious passersby from the street.
"I swear, did I hear that right? One million just to spend a night with someone else’s girlfriend?"
"Rich people really like to spend money like water!"
"Now this is some juicy scandal!"
"Haha, unbelievable!"
Voices filled the air as whispers turned to laughter. Within moments, a circle of passersby had formed, buzzing with disbelief. Some already had their phones out, recording the spectacle with grins.
"Wow, incredible! That guy actually agreed to it!"
"Legendary! I finally saw a man selling his girlfriend for money. What an idiot!"
"You know, he just made a fool of himself for the whole world to see!"
The jeering voices cut like knives, but Vicky’s gaze remained on the suitcase.
More and more people converged, swarming around the Bentley so much that Alex could not stay any longer.
Feeling threatened by remaining, Alex promptly initiated the vehicle.
However, before he could depart, Vicky dived forth like a madman, putting his hands through the window to snatch the suitcase from Sophie’s grasp.
"Didn’t you said you’re cutting ties with me! Alright then! But you aren’t taking that money away!
"Give me the one million cash! I don’t care what you do with this spoiled rich man, but the money is mine!"
His face contorted, desperation seeping out of every sentence. He could not bear to lose the golden opportunity that is presented to him in silver platter.
"Get out!" Sophie shouted, holding the suitcase tightly.
"I earned this myself! It has nothing to do with you anymore!"
"You shit"
"Vicky I finally see you at last for what you are—nothing but a shameless leech!"
Her anger flared, Sophie’s voice shook with rage. She pulled the suitcase back toward herself, adamant on not to release it.
Knowing there was no hope to reclaim her, Vicky dropped his pretense at last. His tone grew toxic, laced with curses.
"Your stupid cunt! Look at yourself in the mirror first —would anybody even want you? You should thank whoever paid for you at all! Give over the one million, or you’ll be sorry!"
"Shut up!" Sophie shouted, pulling harder.
"This money belongs to me. You have no right to it!"
The two fought over the suitcase savagely, their bond broken utterly under the avalanche of greed and deceit.
Alex was at last aware the scene was getting out of control.
With a frown on his face, he pushed Vicky out of the way with his brute force, leaped back into the car, and pressed the accelerator.
"One million!" Vicky shrieked, stumbling backward.
"That’s my one million!"
"Sophie, you bitch! Return me my money!"
Alex’s thrust had sent Vicky crashing almost ten meters along the pavement after all Alex is not the old self now.
Now Alex is already a Martial Artist.
But just like cockroach was impossible to kill, he crawled back up again, running desperately after the speeding Bentley.
But flesh and blood was no match for a car.
And a car such as this Bentley driven by the W12 engine isn’t even possible to catch in dreams.
In just seconds, the luxury vehicle had vanished, leaving behind dust and a howling desperate man.
