No one gave her an answer.
She had no one to ask, so she put her thoughts aside and focused on work.
Work was the best way to distract herself.
All day, Du Ruoxin didn't think about Rong Jingyang again. She held meetings with actors and staff, confirmed filming techniques and character positioning, and conveyed her ideas. In the blink of an eye, it was dark.
"Sister Xin, want to have dinner together tonight?" a female actress invited.
Du Ruoxin: "Where?"
Actress: "Lambeth."
Du Ruoxin: "That's a bit far. I have something to do tonight."
She hadn't spoken to her elder brother all day, and tonight she had to ask Miranda to go with her.
Actress: "Come on, Mr. Rothschild asked me to invite you."
Du Ruoxin: ...Elder brother? He was discharged from the hospital?
Taking out her phone, she saw his unread message—[Xin'er, Thames River, come find me.]
So her elder brother hadn't waited for her reply and had asked the actress to invite her?
After a moment of thought, she said, "Let's go."
But they hadn't gone far when the sky began to pour down rain.
"Swish swish swish—"
Raindrops the size of tears washed across the glass car window.
"It's raining so hard," Du Ruoxin sighed.
This was the heaviest downpour she had seen since the beginning of autumn, pattering and shaking people's nerves.
The drizzling downpour combined with the rustling wind seemed like nature playfully causing mischief.
She suddenly felt like reciting a poem...
Just then, Du Ruoxin's phone rang.
"Sister Xin, it's bad, all our things are ruined." The subordinate felt like crying and breaking down.
Du Ruoxin's heart leaped into her throat. "What happened? What's wrong?"
She had only been gone for half an hour, yet the tone sounded as if the sky had fallen!
"The rain. This rain..." The subordinate looked at the torrential rain pouring into the room, the mess caused by the strong wind—clothes boxes, prop boxes, makeup, various equipment... where to even start salvaging?
"The room where we stored our things is leaking, everything is soaked."
Save the important things first!
"Wh-what?!" Du Ruoxin felt a thunderous shock, her mind going blank.
Those things... were needed for filming tomorrow!
"Stop the car! Go back!"
She was burning with anxiety.
Du Ruoxin called Miranda and asked her to organize people to salvage the supplies.
By the time she rushed back, everyone, without regard for umbrellas, was moving things in the pouring rain. No matter if they were the director, actors, or general staff, everyone was running against the storm with all their might.
To minimize losses as much as possible.
Du Ruoxin wanted to rush into the rain to move things, but Miranda stopped her.
"No, you can't get wet."
Sister Xin was pregnant. If she caught a cold, she couldn't take medicine, and what if something happened to the baby?
And with such heavy rain, what if she twisted her ankle or got injured.
She couldn't take that responsibility!
"Help me see which ones are still good."
Miranda pushed Du Ruoxin to a safe place.
Du Ruoxin didn't argue. In her opinion, no amount of money could buy the safety and health of her child. The child was the most important.
The two began to divide the work.
Soon, all the items were moved, and Du Ruoxin had also sorted them out.
She had everyone register the good and usable items, as well as the damaged ones that needed repair or were unusable.
It was already an hour or two later when they finished.
Du Ruoxin was panting with exhaustion, unable to straighten her back. As she checked the last item, she stood up.
Suddenly, a wave of dizziness washed over her.
Du Ruoxin felt her head spin, her body swayed, and she fell straight down.
