Chapter 650 Speak of the devil, and he shall appear

Du Ruoxin slept very late last night, and as a result, she couldn't get out of bed in the morning.

The sun had already risen, casting its rays into the room through the gaps in the window.

The VIP hospital room had two beds, one for the patient and one for the companion. Kristino slept on the companion bed; he hadn't left last night.

He had woken up just after six this morning, but he hadn't gotten out of bed.

Kristino, afraid of waking Du Ruoxin, lay in bed and dozed off again until he heard sounds from outside the door.

Feng Linwan?

The Rong couple had arrived quickly.

Kristino rolled over and got out of bed, tiptoed into the bathroom, tidied himself up, and then opened the door.

Everyone was gone.

There was no one at the door.

"Master, as you instructed, I've prepared porridge for the young lady, along with sweet fermented rice with eggs, and brown sugar steamed buns..." a servant said, pushing a meal cart.

Kristino interrupted, "Did you add any oil?"

The servant replied, "Rest assured, not a drop of oil."

Kristino nodded then, "You may go."

The meal cart was pushed into the room. He drew hot water, prepared mouthwash, squeezed toothpaste, and went to the bedside to call out, "Xin'er, time to wake up."

The Rong couple would be coming in soon; she should get ready, shouldn't she?

Du Ruoxin didn't wake up, but Miranda sat up and asked, "What time is it?"

As if she hadn't expected the man to answer, she looked at the clock on the wall—8:16?

So late?

Miranda threw off the covers and got out of bed, heading to the bathroom to wash up and put on makeup.

Even with all this commotion, Du Ruoxin wasn't woken up.

Kristino pinched the woman's nose, "Xin'er, wake up."

"If you don't get up soon, Mrs. Rong and Rong Jingyang will be here."

Du Ruoxin was sleeping soundly when her breath was cut off, and frightening words were spoken. She jolted awake—Rong Jingyang? Where? Where was he?

She opened her eyes, and her brother's enlarged face filled her vision.

Du Ruoxin paused, then, as if to avoid him, looked towards the door.

Kristino seemed accustomed to her rejection of him. He wrung out the towel expressionlessly and handed it to her.

After helping Du Ruoxin wash up, he took the bed board, placed it on the bed rails, and arranged the breakfast, saying, "What else would you like to eat? I'll have someone get it."

Du Ruoxin looked at the dozen plates before her, "It's enough, it's enough, I can't possibly eat all this."

As soon as she picked up her chopsticks, Feng Linwan, along with her husband, son, and granddaughter, knocked on the door.

"Knock, knock—"

Kristino stood up to open the door, but his tall, imposing figure blocked the entrance, preventing them from entering, "Xin'er is still eating breakfast, please wait."

Feng Linwan frowned, but before she could speak, Rong Doudou shouted, "You're a bad person, you hit my daddy, I hate you." As she spoke, she started pushing him.

When she couldn't push him, she grabbed his hand and bit him.

Kristino: "..."

Alas!

After finally winning Doudou's favor, all his efforts were now in vain.

Kristino stepped aside, letting them in.

It was unavoidable; no matter how decisive and imposing he was outside, he couldn't bring himself to be harsh with Du Ruoxin and her daughter.

They were his weakness, his only weakness in this life.

Du Ruoxin heard the commotion at the door and put down her chopsticks, "Doudou?"

Rong Doudou then released her teeth and ran into the room, "Mommy."

Everyone entered the hospital room.

Du Ruoxin saw her mother-in-law and father-in-law and called out softly, but she didn't glance at Rong Jingyang, who was leaning on a cane, the entire time.

In her eyes, he had become air.

Feng Linwan came to the edge of the bed and lifted her granddaughter onto it, "Doudou hasn't eaten breakfast either, are you hungry?"

Rong Doudou replied, "Mm, Doudou wants to eat with Mommy."

Du Ruoxin looked at Feng Linwan, "Mommy, what about you and Daddy? Do you want..."

Feng Linwan said, "No need, we ate in the car."

The atmosphere was a little awkward.

A little strange.

Several people were in the room, yet no one spoke.

Du Ruoxin kept her head down, eating. She ate very carefully and nervously, knowing that several pairs of eyes were watching her.

She finished the meal, feeling tense and as if something were stuck in her throat, and put down her chopsticks.

However, at that moment, someone else walked in.

Two police officers in uniform looked around imposingly and walked directly towards Miranda, who was still eating breakfast, "Please come with us."

Miranda was a bit stunned, "...What's wrong?"

Why were these two officers so persistent?

The police officer said, "Due to the severity of your assault, we need to re-interrogate you."

Miranda was even more bewildered, "Didn't my lawyer explain everything to you last night?"

The police officer said sternly, "There is new evidence that is unfavorable to you. Please cooperate with the investigation."

Du Ruoxin looked over worriedly, "Officer, I am also a party involved. Miranda only clashed with Ivy because of me..."

Miranda stood up and interrupted, "Xin Jie, I'll go. You focus on recovering."

She could walk out of the police station once, and she could do it a second time.

Miranda wasn't worried at all.

Du Ruoxin watched her good friend being taken away and subconsciously looked at Kristino.

"Don't worry, she'll be fine," he promised.

He took out his phone and made a call, ordering people to keep a close watch.

Du Ruoxin was still a little uneasy, but her lips moved, and she didn't say anything.

After dealing with Ivy, she would personally go to the police station to pick up Miranda.

Feng Linwan held Du Ruoxin's hand and comforted her, "Don't worry, not a single hair on your friend will be harmed."

She shot a glance at her husband.

Rong Jianchen immediately took out his phone and sent a message.

Feng Linwan then looked at her son, her tone icy, "When will Ivy arrive?"

Rong Jingyang was about to say he'd call to ask.

Speak of the devil, Ivy arrived.

Ivy pushed the door open and walked in.
