"..."
Rong Jingyang stared at her in silence, his brow furrowed. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, Du Ruoxin covered his mouth with her hands and said fiercely, "I will live to be a hundred years old!"
"Outlive you!"
"Die after you!"
"Rong Jingyang, in this life, don't even think about having a second wife besides me!"
The woman's unreasonable nature carried a familiar scent, a familiar formula.
Rong Jingyang dotingly pinched her cheek, "Yes, you must live to be a hundred years old, live longer than me, and not give me the chance to marry a second woman."
Wuwuwu—
He pinched her so hard it hurt!
Du Ruoxin reciprocated by pinching the man's face, "I don't need to live much longer than you, just one minute is enough."
So they would both live to a ripe old age, loving each other until the end.
Until the end!
—
Grace woke up on the balcony. Intense sunlight bathed her body, and the sweat had soaked her clothes to the point where they could be wrung out.
"Hiss—"
Her whole body ached, and her head throbbed inexplicably.
What was going on?
Grace sat up, the sunlight blinding her. "Ah!"
She raised her hand to shield her eyes and stumbled back inside.
Sister Xin!
Grace suddenly jolted, as if she had been eating cold pastries with Du Ruoxin, and then her consciousness had faded.
This is not normal!
Ignoring her splitting headache, Grace walked and called out, "Sister Xin, Sister Xin?"
The empty room offered no reply. She took out her phone and called Du Ruoxin.
The signal connected quickly, but it was Caroline's voice.
Upon learning that Caroline, Du Ruoxin, and Rong Jingyang were together, Grace breathed a sigh of relief.
She continued to ask about Du Ruoxin's situation, but Caroline stammered, telling her to come to the top floor to talk.
Grace's heart hung in the air.
After washing up and changing, Grace headed for the top floor.
Along the way, she heard everyone discussing the same thing.
"So scary, last night my husband and I were sleeping, and suddenly the alarm went off. We didn't even put on our clothes, just grabbed the kids and ran."
"Yes, me too! Luckily, I have a habit of sleeping in pajamas."
"Tsk tsk tsk, some people ran out wrapped in bedsheets, and some were naked..."
"Did you guys hear? There was a stampede last night, some people got injured, I wonder if anyone died?"
"They definitely died!"
"A friend of mine heard someone screaming... it sounded like a gang dispute... a lot of people were together, fighting!"
"Some had guns, some had knives."
"Holy crap! What's going on!"
"Shh—"
"Keep it down, don't provoke the wrong people for no reason."
"Yeah, why bother asking so much? The captain said last night was just a false alarm, and to compensate for our mental distress, this entire trip is free!"
"Right, right, you can save at least ten thousand, and up to a hundred or two hundred thousand."
Who cared if anyone died?
Money in your own pocket was the real deal!
Grace: "..."
Listening to the vivid descriptions of the tourists on the way, her heart pounded, and her face turned pale.
It was Sister Xin!
Something must have happened to Sister Xin!
Grace hurried to the top floor. As soon as she saw Caroline's heavy and distressed expression, her heart sank.
What happened? After she was drugged last night, what had transpired?
Caroline's concise explanation left Grace's face ashen.
Sister Xin... was...
It was all her fault!
If she hadn't eaten the cold pastry, Sister Xin wouldn't have been kidnapped.
If Caroline hadn't come back to live with them, hadn't been awakened...
Grace dared not think further.
The two women fell into a deathly silence, neither speaking.
After an unknown amount of time, the bedroom door suddenly opened, and both of them looked over.
Du Ruoxin pushed Rong Jingyang out. Du Ruoxin, in particular, was radiant and exuded a sweet aura, as if she had been nourished.
"Grace, Caroline, you're here too."
Du Ruoxin saw her friends and ran towards them happily.
"Sister Xin." Both of them called out in unison.
Du Ruoxin patted their shoulders, "Alright, don't look so glum, I'm fine."
"See, I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?"
She turned in a circle and said with a smile.
"Yes!" Caroline's sorrow turned to joy, "It's good that you're okay, it's good that you're okay."
However, Grace couldn't manage a smile, her face stretched long.
"Let's go, have a big meal." Du Ruoxin linked an arm with each of them, "I'm starving."
Being able to eat meant she was truly fine.
Caroline's anxious heart could finally rest.
The group headed to the restaurant.
Grace had no appetite and left after eating a little.
Du Ruoxin: "..."
Why did she always feel that Grace was acting strangely?
The king crab in her hand didn't taste as good anymore!
Alas!
Seeing Du Ruoxin's gaze drifting towards the door, Caroline knew what she was worried about. She stood up and said, "You eat slowly, I'll go check on Grace."
"Okay." Du Ruoxin gave a knowing smile.
Caroline wiped her mouth and followed her out of the restaurant, but Grace was no longer in sight.
She left so quickly, where did she go?
Just as she was about to call her, a figure appeared ahead.
Caroline's expression changed!
But then, with her head down, she obediently followed the person in black.
