Chapter 9 The Foolish Woman

The night was deep, and all was silent.

Du Ruoxin chatted with a group of young girls about dreams, the future, and a beautiful life.

It was very late, and they had all fallen asleep, but she was still awake.

"Bang, bang, bang—"

A series of urgent and flustered knocks echoed on the door.

Du Ruoxin looked at the door with bloodshot eyes. Heaven knew how tired she was right now!

She got out of bed and opened the door.

Her agent rushed in, his loud voice urging, "Get up, get up! Something came up suddenly, we have to rush to City A now."

"The boss signed a big deal and needs you to save the day."

"Hurry, hurry!"

Midnight was the best time to strike.

When people are groggy, their ability to discern correctly is greatly diminished.

In a moment, they would be drugged, loaded onto a boat, and once at sea, the money would be in their hands!

The agent was already contemplating whether to hit the casino first after receiving his commission, or to enjoy himself at a ladyboy bar...

"Just make do with breakfast for now," the agent said with a friendly smile in the van, holding a bottle of mineral water and a bread. "Once we get to City A, I'll take you to a six-star hotel for a good meal."

"Thank you, Brother Liu." The group of girls happily accepted the food and began to eat heartily.

The agent noticed Du Ruoxin hadn't touched hers and looked at her with concern. "Ruoxin, eat up, it's a long drive."

He had put sleeping pills in the mineral water bottle; ten minutes after drinking it, she would be completely unconscious.

"Oh." Du Ruoxin unscrewed the cap and tilted her head back to drink the water.

Hundreds of people, spending an entire night, dredged the entire river, finally completing a task as arduous as finding a needle in a haystack.

The wallet was found.

Rong Jingyang put on gloves and opened the wallet.

A black gold card from Rothschild Bank caught his eye, but he paid it no mind.

However, a photograph suddenly made his brow furrow.

Because it had been soaked in water, the picture had faded, and the appearances of the two individuals were unclear.

But Rong Jingyang knew the woman was his wife, Du Ruoxin. And the man?

Why was Du Ruoxin leaning in his arms?

Who was he?

In the hazy morning light, Rong Jingyang's eyes were like those of a lurking wolf.

"Investigate!" he handed it to Mu Li.

Mu Li expressionlessly took out his phone to take a picture, but inwardly, he felt like jumping off a building.

Investigate what?

Sir, the background in the photo is blurred, the man's figure is blurred. Even with a microscope, nothing can be figured out.

Rong Jingyang clearly didn't care how difficult his order was. He merely glanced at the ground and said, "Clean it up and bring it to me."

Rong Jingyang left.

Having not slept all night, his eyes were bloodshot as he got into the sedan.

"Sir, shall we go to the company?" asked Lin Xuanyao, his driver and bodyguard.

Rong Jingyang didn't answer. His expression froze for a moment. He took out his phone and dialed Du Ruoxin's number.

It was still switched off.

He called back the villa. "Did Madam return last night?"

The butler replied, "No."

Rong Jingyang hung up. If she wasn't at the villa, where would she go?

Thinking of the unpleasant incident at the hospital, Rong Jingyang's eyelids twitched.

He opened the police system again, watching the surveillance footage from various intersections until he discovered Du Ruoxin entering a budget hotel with a middle-aged, sleazy-looking man.

He exclaimed, "!"

This woman, is she an idiot!

Walking off with a stranger in the middle of the night, wasn't she afraid of being kidnapped, sold? Afraid of...

Rong Jingyang dared not think further. He gritted his teeth and said, "Home Inn!"

Stupid woman, you had better not lose a single strand of hair.

If you lose one, I'll kill his entire family!

Rong Jingyang stormed into the hotel, and when he learned that Du Ruoxin and the middle-aged man had already left in the middle of the night, his aura grew even colder.
