Chapter 107 He Laodie's Nephew

Chen Mo hadn't expected the nurses to be so direct with their words.

Especially seeing Chen Wenbin's expression, which was worse than if he had eaten a dead rat, made them want to laugh.

"Give him a dose. You need to understand that one rotten apple can spoil the whole barrel. He's the primary contact. If anything happens to him, our hospital will also suffer," Chen Mo then said to the nurses.

"Chen Mo! You! Who are you calling a rotten apple!" Chen Wenbin glared at Chen Mo, his face full of anger.

Chen Mo, however, said nonchalantly, "Dr. Chen, I was just using a metaphor. What? Are you feeling guilty?"

"Dr. Chen, Director Chen was just making an analogy. Why are you getting so agitated!"

"Exactly. Director Chen said he'd give you a bowl of medicinal soup. Not only are you ungrateful, but you want to throw a tantrum? You must have a screw loose."

"You guys!" Chen Wenbin was about to go mad.

He could never have imagined that he, a distinguished graduate, would encounter such a situation!

Knowing that further argument would only put him at a disadvantage, Chen Wenbin stepped forward, took a bowl of medicinal soup, and drank it all down in one gulp.

After drinking, Chen Wenbin shot Chen Mo a glare before turning to leave.

"Director Chen, you're just too kind. If it were me, I wouldn't have given him any," one nurse said.

"I wouldn't either. Once he shows symptoms, we'll just have the hospital fire him!" another chimed in.

"Exactly. If it weren't for his misdiagnosis, our hospital wouldn't be this busy today," the nurses said with dissatisfaction.

Chen Mo smiled helplessly. To have earned the shared dislike of so many nurses, Chen Wenbin was quite a character.

Thanks to the prescription Chen Mo had written, the hospital managed to navigate this incident without any major issues. Apart from the patient himself, there were no other infections.

Upon returning to his department, Chen Mo's phone suddenly rang.

Glancing at the caller ID, he saw it was his eldest sister. Chen Mo quickly answered.

"Big sister, have the culprits been found?" Chen Mo asked urgently as soon as the call connected.

"Not yet, but we have some leads," Qin Yuyan's voice came through the phone.

Hearing this, Chen Mo's spirits visibly sank.

"I've already bought a burial plot with good feng shui. Dean He will be cremated tomorrow morning. You should come to see him off on his final journey," Qin Yuyan said again.

"Okay," Chen Mo nodded.

He then hung up the phone.

Ever since receiving that call, Chen Mo had seemed very downcast.

He couldn't understand how his eldest sister, with her formidable background and influence, capable of casually dismantling the Xue Group Investment, couldn't find a murderer.

"Chen Mo, what's wrong?" At this moment, Tian Mengyao noticed Chen Mo's low spirits and walked over.

"It's nothing."

"I need to take a day off tomorrow. I'll be leaving the department's affairs to you," Chen Mo instructed.

Seeing that Chen Mo was unwilling to elaborate, Tian Mengyao didn't press further and simply nodded.

Due to the hospital's situation, the entire respiratory department had ceased seeing patients for the day.

It wasn't until evening, when all the test results for the doctors and patients were out, that the hospital allowed them to leave.

The next morning, Chen Mo left his rented apartment early.

He took a taxi to the Longhua City Funeral Home.

Today was the day to send off his adoptive father, Elder He, and he had to be there.

He Zhongnan had always been a very low-key person. After the orphanage closed, he lived with Chen Mo in a small house.

To take care of Chen Mo, He Zhongnan never married and rarely interacted with others, thus having very few friends. Consequently, at the farewell ceremony at the funeral home today, he was the only one standing there.

His eldest sister had visited the previous night. Due to her special status, she feared causing a stir by being here, so she did not come to the funeral home today.

Chen Mo looked at the deserted funeral home and smiled wryly, "Old Dad, why did you have to do this? It was because of me that you broke up with Aunt Zhang. If you had sent me to another orphanage back then, perhaps your son would be in college now."

"Then you wouldn't have to leave like this, so lonely."

Chen Mo's words were filled with immense sorrow.

A few tears slowly trickled down Chen Mo's cheeks.

"You even said you wanted to drink at my wedding, and hear your daughter-in-law call you 'Old Dad.' But now, you're going back on your word. Can you forgive me? I was an orphan since childhood, and from today onwards, I am an orphan again." Chen Mo's emotions were gradually spiraling out of control.

For over twenty years, if not for He Zhongnan lying in the ice coffin, he might have starved to death on the roadside.

"Sir, please accept my condolences."

"It's time. You can proceed to cremation," a staff member standing nearby said softly.

Chen Mo heard this and nodded.

"Bang!"

"Wait."

However, at this very moment, the previously closed doors of the farewell hall were kicked open.

A man with a protruding beer belly, followed by several young men, walked in.

Chen Mo's brows furrowed slightly, a flicker of anger in his eyes. "Who are you?"

The man chuckled mockingly and slowly walked up to Chen Mo. "Kid, you don't know who I am?"

"I don't know you. I'll give you three seconds to get out of here, or don't blame me for being impolite," Chen Mo replied coldly.

"Heh, kid, just you alone, and you dare to act tough in front of me? Who the hell gave you the guts?"

The man let out a cold laugh and raised his hand to strike Chen Mo's face.

A cold glint flashed across Chen Mo's face.

He lifted his leg and delivered a kick directly to the man's abdomen.

"Owww!" a pained scream erupted.

The man's body was sent flying backward, landing heavily on the ground.

Chen Mo had held nothing back with that kick.

The man knelt on the ground, his face flushed red. The intense pain caused him to spit out a mouthful of saliva, unable to utter a single word.

The other young men were also startled.

None of them had expected Chen Mo to dare to act here!

After a moment, the man finally recovered somewhat, being helped to his feet by the other youths.

However, the severe pain still prevented him from straightening his back.

The man angrily pointed at Chen Mo. "Damn it, kid, I'm He Zhongnan's nephew! What are you, some kind of nobody? You're not even considered an adopted son, so why should you kick me out!"

"Old Dad's nephew?" Chen Mo frowned slightly.

He had never heard Elder He mention having a nephew.

"Since you're Old Dad's nephew, then come and kowtow. See him off on his final journey." Chen Mo had no intention of continuing the physical confrontation.

Having a relative to see him off might bring peace to He Zhongnan's spirit.

"Kid, before I see my second uncle off, we still need to settle our business, right?" the man glared at Chen Mo.

"Our business?" Chen Mo looked at the man in confusion.
