Chapter 29 Retribution

The thought of Zhao Yan's deadline this morning.

It was truly laughable.

She really thought she was someone important.

To her, she was nothing.

But thanks to this commotion, she could play the victim, garnering more sympathy from her classmates.

The car stopped in the parking spot of the residential complex. Jiang Wen, carrying the cat carrier, returned home.

She placed the carrier on the table and looked at the cat, curled up in a ball from fright. Jiang Wen repeatedly banged on the top of the carrier, making a "bang bang bang" sound.

Seeing the cat curled up in fear made her feel particularly happy.

She picked up her phone, ready to record. There were still people online like her. Every time she finished filming these abuse videos, they would be notified and pay to watch.

Jiang Wen turned and took gloves from the drawer.

The drawer contained many tools: pliers, a lighter, a hammer, rope, and suffocation bags.

"Last time I used scissors, this time I'll try something else. You caught me, so I'll hammer you first," Jiang Wen said, taking a hammer from the drawer and speaking gently to the cat in the cage.

Her hand was on the cat carrier's latch, about to open it.

The small cat, which had been curled up, darted out the moment Jiang Wen opened the carrier.

As it lunged forward, it fiercely scratched Jiang Wen's hand.

Even though she was wearing gloves, the kitten's claws were very sharp and tore through her gloves.

Feeling a sting on the back of her hand, she quickly pulled her hand back, letting out a curse.

Her face turned dark and terrifying. She picked up the hammer, eager to strike the cat.

If any of her classmates were present, they would surely be astonished. The person who appeared kind and gentle to outsiders possessed such a cruel and vicious side.

When she turned around, she couldn't see where the cat had gone.

She squatted down and looked under the sofa.

Seeing that the cat wasn't under the sofa either, Jiang Wen gnashed her teeth. Seeing the blood on her hand increasing, she had no choice but to put the hammer back in the drawer. She didn't want to contract rabies.

Especially since this kitten had been abandoned by its owner and might be carrying diseases.

To prevent the kitten from escaping the house, Jiang Wen closed all the windows before going out to get her shots.

After getting her shots, she returned to her room and searched for the cat again, but found no trace of it.

This made her even angrier.

Did the cat just disappear into thin air?

While searching, she suddenly heard a meow.

Hearing the sound, Jiang Wen's heart leaped. She picked up the hammer and followed the cat's voice.

She arrived at the study door, gently opened it, and turned on the light inside.

She cautiously entered the study and waited quietly for a minute. A cat's meow sounded from under the bookshelf.

Jiang Wen's face lit up. She squatted down and looked under the bookshelf.

She couldn't see the cat at all when she squatted down, but the meowing was coming from inside the bookshelf.

This made Jiang Wen very puzzled.

Suddenly, she heard a creaking sound, and the bookshelf began to shake violently.

The bookshelf was placed steadily; how could it be shaking so much?

Frightened, Jiang Wen tried to stand up, but found she couldn't.

It felt as if many things were pressing down on her back, making her feel heavy.

As the bookshelf shook more and more violently, Jiang Wen panicked, struggling to stand up but unable to move.

She watched helplessly as the bookshelf came crashing down on her.

"Ah!" Jiang Wen cried out in panic, hugging her head tightly.

"Bang!"

The bookshelf smashed down on her.

The books inside the bookshelf instantly tumbled down, many scattering on the floor.

Jiang Wen felt pain all over her body, especially in her waist and head. She raised her hand to touch it, and her hands were covered in blood.

Looking at the blood on her hands, she became extremely panicked, crying out for her mother.

She wanted to get up, but found the cabinet pressing down tightly, making it impossible to move.

Fortunately, her phone was still beside her. In her panic, she picked it up, found her mother's number, and quickly dialed it.

"Mom, save me! Save me! The bookshelf fell on me, come quickly, my back hurts so much," Jiang Wen cried.

But as she listened, Jiang Wen felt something was wrong.

The voice on the other end was not her mother's, but a series of sharp cat meows.

This made Jiang Wen even more flustered. She quickly hung up the phone.

She turned her head and looked behind her, finding a black cat by the door staring intently at her.

"Meow!" The black cat let out a piercing cry.

Behind the black cat, many other cats appeared, all staring at her with unwavering gazes.

Seeing so many cats suddenly appear at the study door, their eyes filled with resentment as they looked at her.

Jiang Wen was completely terrified. She quickly covered her head and curled into a ball.

Just like the kitten she had frightened earlier.

"Go away! Go away!"

Panicked, Jiang Wen tried to get up, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't.

The bookshelf behind her became heavier and heavier, making it difficult for her to breathe.

"Mom, Mom," Jiang Wen sobbed, shrinking her head.

These cats just watched her.

Even though the cats did nothing, their more than twenty pairs of eyes staring at her made her scalp tingle.

Especially when she remembered that all these cats had been tormented to death by her, her fear intensified.

"Wenwen." Hearing her mother's voice, Jiang Wen felt as if she had found her anchor. She shouted madly, "Mom, I'm here."

"Oh, Mom!" Seeing Jiang Wen pinned down, Mother Jiang immediately lifted her hand and moved the bookshelf away.

Jiang Wen cried, "Mom, I'm in so much pain."

"Let's go to the hospital. Wenwen, don't be afraid, I'll take you," Mother Jiang said softly.

Mother Jiang helped Jiang Wen towards the door.

As Jiang Wen reached the door, she looked back towards the outside.

The black cat had been following them. More than twenty black cats walked to the doorway and just stared at her.

This scared Jiang Wen into clinging tightly to her mother.

"Don't be afraid, we'll be at the hospital soon." Feeling Jiang Wen trembling, Mother Jiang helped her into the car.

Jiang Wen, in pain, didn't want to make a sound, her eyes squinted.

Mother Jiang was very anxious, comforting Jiang Wen as she drove.

Halfway down the road, a black cat suddenly darted out.

Faced with the darting black cat, Mother Jiang was startled and quickly slammed on the brakes.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Jiang Wen's face turned pale as she asked Mother Jiang.

"A black cat suddenly ran into the middle of the road, and the car hit it." Mother Jiang opened the car door and got out to look.

There was no cat where she had hit it. Looking under the car, she couldn't see anything.

Mother Jiang got back into the car, a look of disbelief on her face. "That's strange. There was clearly a black cat that ran out just now, but now it's gone!"
