Charming Little Demon Lord

Chapter 483 - 481: The Farmer and the Snake

"Zhengguo, what are you doing?" The servant who was hit on the head hadn't fainted; she touched her head and found it was bleeding.

"Xiao He, we've served the old master for over a decade. He won't live much longer anyway. It's better to go to Nirvana sooner rather than living in such pain."

Xiao Zheng and Xiao He were both the old man's servants.

They had been tending to the old man side by side for about ten years now.

Both of them had come to Tang Zhengguo's home since they were about ten years old.

The little girls of the past had now grown into graceful young women.

Xiao He and Xiao Zheng, both were street orphans whom the old man had taken in.

"You, Xiao He, who made you do this? Was it Yang Yuan?" Xiao He asked loudly.

"I'll tell you, it was Yang Yuan who asked me to do it. He promised me five million if the old man could pass away this time. With that five million, I no longer need to be a servant; I can enjoy my own life," Xiao Zheng said dreamily.

"If the old man hadn't taken us in, we would have starved to death. Over the years, he has been kind to us, treating us like his own granddaughters. Do you still have a conscience?" Xiao He said, with grief and indignation.

"Treated us like his granddaughters? Xiao He, are you a fool? Tang Yi is his granddaughter; we are just his servants. Look at Tang Yi, who has received a higher education since childhood and lived a life of luxury, while we are still serving as servants in his house, tending to an old man who is about to die!" Xiao Zheng said with a dark expression.

"Xiao Zheng, if you keep this quiet, I'll give you one million when the time comes."

"You're crazy!" Xiao He knew that Xiao Zheng had lost her enthusiasm; she just wanted to go get the medicine for the old man.

She tried to get up from the ground, but Xiao Zheng struck her head with the stick again.

"Since you're trying to stop me, you might as well die!" Xiao Zheng's face twisted fiercely.

However, because she was a woman and not very strong, or perhaps because Xiao He was too resilient.

She hit Xiao He several times with the stick, but still couldn't knock her out.

Xiao He's head was covered in blood, yet she kept crawling.

The medicine was in the old man's room.

"Die, die!" Xiao Zheng swung the stick in her hand like a madwoman.

Finally, Xiao He stiffened and passed out.

But Xiao Zheng wasn't about to let Xiao He off, instead, she covered Xiao He's nose and mouth with her hand.

Xiao He's body started to twitch, and her legs kicked wildly.

The old man watched this scene, breathing heavily, unable to stand or make a sound.

At last, Xiao He stopped moving.

Tears streamed down the old man's eyes.

He remembered the story of the farmer and the snake.

The farmer saw the snake frozen stiff, saved it, and then was bitten by the snake.

He took these two pitiful little girls home and treated them like his own granddaughters.

Who could have thought it would turn out like this...

"Old man, since you won't live much longer anyway, didn't you say you treated us like your granddaughters? Now that your granddaughter needs money, you shouldn't blame me, right?" Xiao Zheng sneered.

After speaking, she took out a plastic bag.

Although, she knew the old man would die on his own in a few minutes.

But she didn't want to wait those few minutes.

Xiao Zheng tried to cover the old man's head with the plastic bag.

However, she was unsuccessful.

Her hand was caught.

"The old man treated you like a granddaughter, and you treat him like this. Aren't you afraid of retribution?" A somber voice rang out.

Xiao Zheng turned around, only to see a pair of very indifferent eyes staring at her.

Those eyes, like a wolf's.

She tried to pull her hand away, but couldn't move it at all.

Suddenly, Su Chen let go of her hand.

Xiao Zheng's body fell to the ground.

She tried to flee, but found she couldn't move her body.

Su Chen had already hit her pressure points.

Ignoring Zhengguo, Su Chen placed his hand on the old man's chest.

In just a few seconds, the old man felt his breathing normalize.

"Thank you, young friend..." the old man said gratefully, but the sadness in his eyes remained undispelled.

Although he was saved, Little He had died.

If possible, he would rather trade his life for Little He's.

After all, he had lived many years and felt his life was already complete.

If not for the concern he had for Tang Yi, he would have passed away long ago.

Su Chen's gaze fell on Little He, and then he walked over.

After checking,

he said, "Don't worry, old man, she's not dead!"

In fact, Zhengguo hadn't smothered Little He to death.

Hearing that Little He was not dead, the old man's frown finally relaxed.

"Old man, how would you like to deal with her?" Su Chen asked indifferently, looking at Zhengguo.

For someone who repays kindness with ingratitude, Su Chen would typically opt for elimination.

But Zhengguo was after all the old man's servant.

Over the years, they had developed a deep bond.

What to do.

It was still up to the old man.

The old man's gaze lingered on Zhengguo for a long while, filled with blame, but more so with disappointment.

He stood up, went into the bedroom, and came back out a few minutes later.

Holding a bank card in his hand.

"I haven't saved much over the years, this money here was given to me by Tang Yi as a token of filial piety, totaling two hundred thousand, enough for some small business, let's just pretend... I never had you as a granddaughter..." the old man sighed, shaking his head, as he placed the bank card in Zhengguo's hand.

Despite his high status, the old man had always been incorruptible, donating any excess money.

So, he was not wealthy.

"Old man, I'm sorry..." Zhengguo cried, her tears like rain.

"Go..." the old man waved his hand.

Su Chen released Zhengguo's acupoints.

Weeping, Zhengguo left.

Su Chen did not find it strange that the old man let Zhengguo go.

After all, he had served him for ten years and truly considered Zhengguo his own granddaughter.

Little He also regained consciousness.

"Old man, it's great you're alright, I'm sorry..." seeing that the old man was unharmed, Little He both cried and laughed.

"It's alright, it's alright... I have wronged you over the years... Little He, you should go too..." the old man kindly said.

"Old man, Little He won't leave, Little He wants to take care of you for life." Little He cried.

The old man's face was filled with tenderness.

"Little He, you're twenty-five now, right?"

"Yes." Little He nodded.

"Look at you, so handsome." The old man affectionately stroked Little He's cheek.

The old man truly considered Little He his own granddaughter.

"It's time to find a good family..."

"Grandfather, I will not marry, I want to take care of you." Little He said resolutely.

"Having your filial piety is enough, but things will get more dangerous, staying by my side won't end well for you," the old man sighed.

"Old man, you asked me to come because?" Su Chen spoke up.

The old man's face turned stern.

"Su Chen, my young friend, I have a favor to ask of you!"

"Old man, please speak!" Su Chen nodded.
