Chapter 671: Chapter 318: Severed Tails
Above the forest, deep green like ink, a figure swiftly moved along the treetops.
The dense leaves parted like ink waves on either side, surging layer upon layer.
Suddenly, several black shadows appeared silently around it, as if something invisible blocked the sky light, casting patches of shadow.
In the shadows, a black worm-like movement, soon several figures wrapped in Black Robe slowly emerged from the shadow.
The speeding figure halted, revealing a youth in deep blue Magic Robe, white hair flowing to his waist, an elegant beauty shining through his calm demeanor.
The youth calmly scanned the Black Robe figures around him, and in an instant, the battle erupted abruptly.
The six Black Robe figures leapt like large birds, simultaneously attacking the youth they surrounded.
Their movements highly synchronized, as if some marvelous connection existed among them, a thread of evil aura exchanged in the Void, vaguely forming a mysterious Array.
The sky above dimmed suddenly, shadows formed out of thin air began to cover the youth’s cheeks, starting from his feet.
The youth retreated slightly, expressionless, he stretched out his hand, lightly pointing to the Void ahead.
A small snowflake peeled off from the slender white fingertip, spinning and flying forward, mysterious aura simultaneously pouring out from the snowflake’s eight corners.
In a flash, a terrifying cold burst forth, "Boom!"
Frost roared at this moment, pure white Ice Flame spread, fierce Ice Spur grew wildly... An ancient and grand Ice and Snow Country suddenly rose from the Void, instantly enveloping the six Black Robe figures.
The six Black Robe figures seemed oblivious to the chilling cold around them, their movements unaffected, shooting like lightning, intersecting like razors.
"Bang!"
The youth’s figure shattered, scattering like broken mirror shards.
At the same time, he emerged from the other side of the Snow Country, lightly lifting his palm, tornado, Cold Wave, and Ice Spirit simultaneously rushing out, howling.
The six Black Robe figures ignored everything, changing direction, once again charging at the youth, passing through tornado and Cold Wave, smashing through wild Ice Spur and swaying Pure White Fire, tearing the Black Robe to reveal their strong and hideous silver-white bodies.
They looked like six bizarre lizards, yet with humanoid limbs, with beast-like cold Bloodthirst light shining in the long eyes above the bloody mouths.
The six Lizard Men pierced through layers of ice and snow, closing in on the youth in an instant.
The youth’s eyes flashed, a complex and exquisite silver pattern seemed to flash in his pupils.
In that instant, the drifting snowflakes froze silently, everything halted, including the six lizard monsters.
The youth squinted his eyes, as if appraising six vivid ice sculptures, he carefully examined the six lizard monsters before him.
At some moment, he gently exhaled, then, the quiet Snow Country began to tremble.
Like a beautiful, unparalleled mirror, it began to shatter inch by inch into tiny debris from the edge.....
Under the terrifying Power of Annihilation, threads of Forbidden aura flowed out, the six Lizard Men fixed by Space Power seemed to sense danger, their eyes moved, struggling fiercely as they emitted violent low growls.
The youth calmly extended his right hand, the shattered fragments left by the Snow Country Mirror began to reassemble onto his right hand, a light emanated from his palm.
In an instant, it transformed into a Light Ball interwoven with silver-white and deep blue, the Forbidden aura grew more intense, thin arcs of light leapt across the Space.
Through the semi-transparent surface of the Light Ball, one could faintly see the vast ice plain and the contours of rising glaciers inside, tornado and Cold Wave raging on the ice plain, half-humanoid Frost Spirit running... as if a real Ice and Snow Country was condensed within one palm.
However, before this realm could completely form, the youth nonchalantly crushed the Light Ball with one palm!
In that instant, a horrific Torrent appeared, the interwoven forces of Space annihilation and icy freezing, suddenly pouring out in all directions.
The six lizard monsters at the forefront roared, their strong bodies quickly eroded into powder and dispersed under the Torrent....
When all movement ceased, the youth quietly stood in his original spot, around him, only six silver-white "tentacles" covered in frost remained, gently twitching.
These weren’t tentacles; they were more akin to severed tails from a large creature.
The cut surfaces were smooth, with peculiar rune patterns lingering.
Ronan crouched down, gently poking at the still writhing tails with his hand.
He felt a familiar sensation from these tails, as if they came from a creature he had once seen.
"Dragon!"
Ronan’s eyes suddenly flashed, slowly uttering, "Dragon’s tail."
He had not long left the Spirit Lake when inexplicably chased by the Lizard Men formed from this bizarre severed tail before his eyes.
Now, he seemed to understand something, slowly standing up.
"It’s Gorini."
Alazan spoke the answer in his heart, "It seems to be sent specifically by him to test your subordinates."
"What exactly is he in the Hall of Spirits? And what does Gatekeeper really mean?"
Ronan asked, this perplexity had lingered in his heart for a long time, and now was the moment to ask.
He noticed that the Tailless evil dragon Gorini greatly feared Alazan, yet could stand on equal footing with other Witch Leaders, and appeared to have a close relationship with Dragon Witch Chief Bahafus.
"Bahafus once obtained a severed dragon’s tail.
I don’t know what she did, but that severed tail later turned into Gorini..."
Ronan was taken aback, "Are you saying Gorini itself was transformed from a tail?"
"Yes."
Alazan said calmly, "Gorini is not weak in strength, inherently insidious and evil, and has instigated conflicts among the Witch Leaders more than once.
Bahafus tried several times to kill it, but it failed every time, whether due to fear of its true body or simply being unable to do so..."
"Who is its true body?"
"Only Bahafus might know that."
Alazan paused, saying, "It knows I’m with you, it’s watching you, and will certainly come after you again, be careful.."
Ronan frowned, looking silently at the few motionless severed tails beneath his feet.
Suddenly, the six severed tails exploded with a puff, forming a black mist that quickly coalesced into the shape of a human figure.
White hair, dark skin, thin lips, thin build, deep-set eyes, looking coldly at Ronan, emanating an aura of evil and strangeness.
"Ewaqu?!"
Ronan’s pupils shrank as he saw the silhouette.
Even though the appearance was greatly altered, he instantly recognized it as his old friend Ewaqu, who got lost after entering the Spirit Space together from the Southern region.
"If you want to save his life, come with me."
The man who bore a slight resemblance to Ewaqu looked at Ronan, showing a sinister smile, and spoke in a voice that sounded sharp and unusual, like smooth objects rubbing together, then turned and walked away.
Alazan whispered a warning, "Don’t go. It’s a trick it commonly uses."
Ronan’s eyes flickered, taking a deep breath, and finally, expressionless, he followed, despite Alazan’s soft sigh.
He kept his gaze on Ewaqu’s back, his naturally lowered fingers slightly trembling, with snowflakes spinning off each fingertip.
The snowflakes floated, forming a certain formation, followed by a piercing deep-blue beam that shot from his palm like a furious dragon, reaching Ewaqu in an instant, entangling him layer by layer.
Yet the figure seemed unaffected by the ice-sealing force, slipping through the web of radiant strands unscathed, moving at an astonishing speed, and upon reaching a great distance, turned back with a slightly mocking cold smile towards Ronan.
Ronan tried several different methods, none of which had any effect on Ewaqu; he seemed immune to ordinary energy or physical attacks, and over several attempts, his taunting gaze towards Ronan grew stronger.
Ronan squinted his eyes, abruptly unleashing an immense spiritual field from within, initially icy, switching to a scorching form, orbiting him like stars.
Lightly touching his brow, a ripple like liquid gold emanated from his forehead, swiftly spreading outwards, drawing a long golden trail across the void.
The ripple swiftly swept across Ewaqu’s body, and in just a moment, his expression changed.
A cluster of golden-red flames leapt from beneath him, engulfing him in the blink of an eye, turning him into a blazing human torch.
Ewaqu’s face immediately contorted with a pained and sorrowful expression, reaching out to Ronan as if pleading.
"Damien... don’t.. abandon me.."
Ronan’s pupils reflected the flickering golden flames, quietly watching Ewaqu melt away like a candle, until he was completely consumed.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Ronan softly said, "Let’s go."
Then, with a calm demeanor, he turned to leave.
........
"Boom!"
The sudden collapse of the cliff, amidst the rolling dust stirred up by falling rocks, Ronan stepped out.
He held a black stone ball in his hand, its surface covered with numerous cracks.
"It’s a deserted Holy Shrine Altar... the power inside has almost drained away, and it’s not what I’m looking for..."
Ronan gently crushed the stone ball, its fragments slipping from his fingers, rustling as they hit the ground.
"Next one then.."
Ronan retrieved another black stone ball from his Space Ring, nearly identical to the one that just shattered.
The only difference is a narrow fissure in the center of this stone ball, emitting a faint blue light.
Ronan gently pressed his hand against the stone ball, which seemed soft, leaving a few dents under his fingers.
As Ronan’s low spell resonated, the stone ball began to tremble slightly, followed by several semi-transparent black lines visible only to him, which extended in different directions.
Ronan’s gaze flickered, randomly selecting one of the black lines, then soared into the sky, flying along its path.
He swiftly glided over rugged mountains, dense forests, rivers... Suddenly, he stopped, looking slightly different as he gazed in a particular direction.
