False Court
Chapter 14 Frustration
A complete and detailed map of the area appeared in his mind, and he quickly calculated all possible options.
In the end, he grabbed Lan Xi's hand and ran back. As expected, they soon ran into a group of zombies.
Anyone else would have thought Su Mo was crazy, but Lan Xi wasn't stupid. She didn't believe Su Mo would be so quick to send himself to his death.
Sure enough, Su Mo suddenly accelerated and jumped towards the wall of an alley on the left. He grabbed the wall with both hands, flipped over, and then reached out to Lan Xi.
Lan Xi quickly reached out her hand.
Su Mo simply pulled her up, and then they jumped down, entering another alley. He quickly led Lan Xi on a dash, winding east and west through the area.
Lan Xi was completely disoriented, but fortunately, they didn't encounter too many monsters along the way.
Just then, Su Mo led Lan Xi to the back door of a building, which was open.
"Go in."
"Where is this?"
Lan Xi asked curiously.
"The back door of a security company. I scouted it with a drone earlier, and the back door wasn't closed."
Su Mo cautiously walked in. It wasn't necessarily safe inside, but they might find the equipment they needed.
The entire security company was silent, with files scattered all over the floor.
The layout of the building was simple, with not much decoration. However, every so often along the corridor, there was a protective isolation door, and the surrounding walls were reinforced.
In addition, most of the rooms were closed. Su Mo tried to open them, but to no avail. Moreover, these doors were all reinforced protective doors, impossible to open without the corresponding keys.
"It doesn't seem like there's anything here."
Lan Xi said, sounding a little disappointed.
"There's something, it's just all in specific rooms. We need to find the keys."
Su Mo replied calmly.
The two of them carefully searched, but fortunately, the internal structure of the security company building didn't have many corners, and the view was open and bright, making it difficult to be ambushed.
Before long, they found an unlocked room on the second floor.
Pushing open the door, they found it was a utility room.
Inside, there were various items piled up, including riot forks and riot shields.
"So many things."
Lan Xi's eyes lit up.
"Search, collect anything useful, and replace any equipment that can be replaced. The quality of the things here will be better than anything you find outside."
Su Mo rummaged through the boxes and cabinets.
"Okay."
Lan Xi also joined in.
After a while, they found two sets of bulletproof vests, two riot batons, and two pairs of gloves and helmets.
As for the other items, Su Mo and Lan Xi simply ignored them, as they were too bulky and not worth much.
"Shouldn't there be guns here?"
Lan Xi said, sounding a little disappointed.
"Guns would definitely be kept in a special storage room. They wouldn't just be scattered around like junk."
Su Mo said, starting to take off his coat.
"Okay, what are you going to do?"
Lan Xi asked, stunned.
"Changing equipment. You didn't actually think you could just put on one piece of equipment and be done with it, did you? You should change quickly too. Having a bulletproof vest is better than nothing."
".....You change first, I'll change later."
Lan Xi replied with a slightly unnatural expression.
Su Mo immediately realized and quickly put on the bulletproof vest and walked out.
Lan Xi closed the door and started changing inside.
Su Mo waited outside for a while, and when Lan Xi still hadn't come out, he frowned slightly.
"Are you done yet?"
"Almost, it's a little tight, I can't buckle it, wait a moment."
Lan Xi's anxious voice came from the storage room.
Su Mo frowned. What a hassle, how hard is it to put on a vest? But he patiently waited, and as time passed, just when Su Mo's patience was about to run out.
Lan Xi opened the storage door, and Su Mo was about to warn her when Lan Xi picked up two keys and showed them off to Su Mo with a smug look.
"Look."
"Where did you find them?"
Su Mo took the keys, looking at Lan Xi with some surprise.
"I found them in some dirty clothes in the closet. They definitely haven't been washed much. See, it was right to bring me along."
Lan Xi said proudly.
"Let's go."
Su Mo didn't say much else and walked back, preparing to try the keys on each room.
The security company building had a total of four floors, with six rooms on each floor. Most of them were locked, and trying more than twenty rooms wasn't so easy.
Lan Xi followed behind Su Mo, watching him search intently, and asked, "By the way, I still don't know what your name is. You probably don't know my name either, so why don't we introduce ourselves?"
"Your name is Lan Xi."
Su Mo replied abruptly.
"How do you know?"
Lan Xi looked at Shen Ye in disbelief.
"Your teammates were shouting so loudly, even an idiot would know what your name is."
"Then what's your name?"
"I'm not telling you. We're only together temporarily. Once we get to a safe place, I'll ditch you."
Su Mo replied without thinking.
Lan Xi felt like she had swallowed a fly. She took a deep breath, telling herself not to get angry. The temperaments of the greats are usually a bit strange, so she had to be understanding.
"You're so skilled, are you from a big guild?"
"I'm not in a guild."
"No way, you're not in a guild?"
"What's so strange about that? Who says you have to be in a guild?"
"Oh, then you must have been a soldier?"
"No!"
"Then why are you participating in this game? Although 99% of the players participating in this game are doing it for money, you don't seem like you're doing it for money."
Lan Xi thought she was good at judging people. When Su Mo was searching for things, he was mainly focused on equipment. He didn't have any desire to search for valuables, which made it clear that he didn't need money.
"I don't know."
Su Mo replied coldly.
"You're too cold, and you don't trust people very much. Have you suffered some kind of trauma in the past?"
"No."
Su Mo replied coldly.
"You don't have to hide it. You're so guarded, it's obvious that you've been betrayed before. Actually, we're all the same, but we can't reject the world just because we've been hurt before. After all, most people in this world are still good. Like when my father betrayed me and took all the money I had saved for my mother's medical treatment, I felt like the sky was falling. But look at me now, I'm still so optimistic, actively making money to treat my mother, and I've even made good friends."
Lan Xi's expression became a little downcast when she said this, but she quickly perked up again.
Su Mo glanced at Lan Xi, took a deep breath, and replied.
"We're not the same. I've never been betrayed."
"You're lying. If you haven't, then why are you so resistant to me?"
"I just don't want to be stabbed in the back. You have to know that your teammates were killed, who can guarantee that you won't take revenge for them?"
"That doesn't matter, I don't care about that."
Lan Xi quickly explained.
"That's even worse. You'd sell out your own teammates, so you might turn around and sell me out."
Su Mo retorted without thinking.
Lan Xi stomped her feet in anger when she heard this. What kind of logic was that?
