41 Pao Ge

Chapter 16 The Pao Ge

As soon as I heard Uncle Mei's tone, I knew he was going to talk about something important.

I quickly sat up straight in bed and said to Uncle Mei, "Go ahead."

Uncle Mei sighed and said weakly, "It was supposed to be a joyous occasion that you and An'an became friends. Her mother and I were quite satisfied with you, and we should have been a family... But who would have thought that something like this would happen? Let's just say we didn't have that fate..."

I quickly shook my head and said, "Uncle Mei, what are you talking about? I am definitely going to marry Little Mei!"

Uncle Mei waved his hand to interrupt me and told me not to interrupt.

He continued, "It's been five days, and I also want An'an to come back safe and sound, but she hasn't sent a single message in five days. I'm getting more and more worried. Rongsheng, you are a good kid, but you are still young after all. Uncle doesn't want to delay you. Why don't you leave after seeing your aunt off on her final journey? Forget about An'an and find a new girlfriend."

Hearing this, I felt extremely uncomfortable. Uncle Mei wanted to shoulder everything alone, avenge Aunt Mei alone, and find Little Mei alone.

Without thinking, I said, "Uncle Mei, we have been through life and death together. How can you still treat me like an outsider? Little Mei and I haven't had a wedding or obtained a marriage certificate, but in my heart, Little Mei is already my wife, and you and Aunt Mei are my family! I'm not going anywhere until I find the murderer who killed Aunt Mei and Little Mei! Uncle Mei, I'm not going anywhere!"

Uncle Mei persuaded again, "Child, don't rush to make a decision. Think about it carefully. This is a big deal, don't regret it in the future."

But I said firmly, "I won't regret it, Uncle Mei. I must find Little Mei, and I must avenge Aunt Mei! If I abandon you and run away now, then am I even human!"

As soon as I finished speaking, a loud voice suddenly came from outside the door:

"Well said! An'an really has an eye for people. The friend she made is a responsible man!"

Before the voice faded, a burly man lifted the curtain and walked in. As soon as he entered, I immediately felt that the whole room had darkened a lot! Looking up, I saw a young man with a height of at least 1.9 meters, with a strong back and a round waist.

He had thick eyebrows and big eyes. He was bald, and there was a thick and long scar on the back of his head, like a centipede crawling on his head sucking blood!

When Uncle Mei saw him come in, he muttered dissatisfiedly, "Hu Wazi! Who told you to come in? Didn't I tell you to wait outside?"

The strong man sat down on the bed with a thud, close to me, and said loudly, "Uncle! We are all family, why can't I come in?"

He was so big that he almost collapsed the bed with his butt. I only felt the bed board shake violently, and I almost bounced him up.

The strong man was naturally friendly and put his arm around my shoulder, saying, "Brother-in-law, from now on, we are family! Don't worry, I will help you find An'an! I will avenge my aunt together!"

I was confused by what he said. How did I suddenly become this giant's brother-in-law?

Uncle Mei quickly introduced me, "Rongsheng, this is Hu Wazi. He is the child of your aunt's younger brother. His parents died early, and your aunt and I raised him. He grew up in our house since he was a child and is no different from our own son. He is family!"

I suddenly understood and nodded to Hu Wazi.

Hu Wazi was also very casual, sitting next to me and chattering,

"Brother-in-law, don't worry, I have already asked my brothers to look for her in town. We will dig three feet into the ground to find An'an! Do you know what I do? Pao Ge! Brother-in-law, do you know what Pao Ge is?"

I said I vaguely heard that Pao Ge were gangsters.

Hu Wazi patted his chest with a snap and said proudly,

"Pao Ge people never slack off! There are six hundred Gelo officers in this town, divided into ten rows. I am the leader of the Renshou Hall! I have more than seventy brothers under me!"

Gelo officer is another name for Pao Ge, and there are two other names: "Han Liu" and "Hai Ye."

Uncle Mei nodded slowly and said, "Hu Wazi knows a lot of brothers, and he can help more or less."

I asked Uncle Mei, "Uncle, what did Old Li and the others say about Aunt Mei's case? We discussed it a few days ago, and we all think that Aunt Mei's death is related to the thing that came out of the coffin that night..."

Uncle Mei replied, "Old Li and Jiang Yongguang have repeatedly discussed this matter, and the final conclusion is that the murderer must be inextricably linked to the grave robbing rats! Jiang Yongguang thought about it for several days and finally came up with a more convincing inference..."

I quickly asked, "What inference?"

Uncle Mei said, "The thing that crawled out of the coffin that night was not the ancient Shu king, but a rat."

I was stunned and said, "A rat? A grave robber?"

Uncle Mei nodded and said, "That night, because the porter hired by Shopkeeper Wang accidentally broke through the waterproof wall, causing groundwater to flood the mausoleum, one of the rats had a flash of inspiration and used the coffin in the main tomb chamber as a boat to escape, got in, and covered the coffin to waterproof it..."

I suddenly understood and slapped my thigh and said, "No wonder there were living people in the coffin! After surfacing, he crawled out of the coffin! It turned out to be a rat hiding inside. That makes sense!"

"Yes, we also think this statement is more credible," said Uncle Mei.

"Then is it this rat that crawled out of the coffin that harmed Aunt Mei?" I quickly asked.

Uncle Mei gritted his teeth and nodded, "From the looks of it now, this is most likely! At that time, the groundwater washed the entire mausoleum, and many cultural relics were washed out. Our father and son are corpse fishermen, and that rat probably suspected that we had fished some cultural relics out of the water, so he came to our house to search for cultural relics."

Hearing this, I couldn't help but feel a chill in my heart and said sadly, "The rat broke into the house, didn't find any cultural relics, and killed Aunt Mei in a fit of anger..."

Hu Wazi stood up immediately, gritting his back teeth and said, "Damn it! Uncle, what is the origin of these grave robbers? Tell me a name, and I will dig three feet into the ground to find them!"

Uncle Mei said angrily, "Hu Wazi, don't worry! There are many and mixed groups of grave robbers. They came from all over the country to rob graves. The one in charge is a figure far away in the capital, and the one who set up the pot is probably not a local either. Can you find anyone with your local brothers?"

Uncle Mei was right. These grave robbers are of complex composition, and most of them travel long distances to Tuojiang to commit crimes. They are not local people.

Hu Wazi is a local Pao Ge, so it is not a problem to find a few local rats, but he is completely clueless about finding these out-of-town rats.

"Then what should we do? Can we only wait for Jiang Yongguang and Old Li to catch the criminals and solve the case? It wasn't their family that had the accident. Can they be as dedicated as we are?" Hu Wazi said anxiously.

Uncle Mei didn't answer, frowning and thinking.

But I suddenly had a flash of inspiration and had an idea.

"Uncle Mei, these grave robbers are probably not all out-of-towners."
