Anton spent the next two hours reviewing the notes that the butler, Raymond Jenkins, and Ronia had made regarding the coins they had spent the last few days. There were very few expenditures in Mr. Jenkins’ budget since it had only been four days. Most of the spending was for food and uniforms for the newly hired employees.
What Anton liked about the butler's notebook was the budget plan for the next couple of months. It was extensive and detailed.
Ronia’s notes regarding the coins that she and Ms. Orwells had spent to furnish the mansion were much more substantial since they included all the things they had purchased from the start. He liked that the notes were detailed. It was as if they wanted to prove to him that everything was accounted for.
While he was reviewing the notes that the butler and Ronia had made, they all waited for him to finish. Thankfully, when he looked up for a moment, Ms. Orwells wasn’t with them, and when Anton asked where she was, Mr. Jenkins informed him that she had gone out together with her lackeys to start purchasing the items needed for the treasure room.
He liked that because Anton wanted the treasure room to be settled before the end of the day. He planned to return to the Corridors of Amuneta dungeon to earn more gold coins. He wanted the treasure room to have an overflowing number of coins so that it would look beautiful when his father and sister saw it.
Anton knew that his desire to please his father and his sister might be a character flaw. He was a people pleaser and a goody two-shoes. More than likely, it stemmed from the fact that he was very young, only 17 years old, and alone when he died of sickness back on Earth. He felt that his behavior stemmed from the fact that he didn’t want his new family and friends to dislike him. But of course, everything was just his theory since he knew nothing about mental illness or some such things.
He also admitted that he was immature. He had only arrived in this world for less than two years. That meant that his mental age was just around 18 years old. Even his desire to get rid of virginity came from the idea that someone who had reached his age should be experienced. At least, that was what the movies had implied.
Anton knew that he was wrong to depend on movies and television shows for such things, but he was just too inexperienced. At the very least, when he was with his friends on the ship, for several months, he experienced what it was like to behave like a teenager who had nothing to worry about but how to enjoy life. He appreciated that and was still grieving that all of his friends there had died. That’s why he was a little averse to meeting new friends in this new place. He was even a little cold to the people that he hired to manage his new manor.
Anton suddenly felt a little down, so he told everyone that he was tired and returned Mr. Jenkins's and Ronia’s notes to them and went to his room to rest. He thought that he was done with grieving, but just as he was perusing the notes that contained the manor’s budgets, the loneliness for losing his friends hit him again.
The moment he arrived at his bedroom, Anton decided to sleep. He knew that somebody had called him to eat, but he just shouted that he was tired and continued sleeping. When he woke up, Anton was surprised that it was already eight in the morning the next day. He was flabbergasted that he slept for around 21 hours.
Anton checked the internet regarding his situation. He knew that it was not a sickness or a disease since his spells could cure something like that. He then had read that what happened was a sign of depression, which was normal for someone who was grieving. Some of the articles also mentioned that even years after the tragedy happened, signs of depression would still suddenly appear and leave. He didn’t know if what he had read was true, but Anton just shrugged and rose from the bed.
He rang the bell cord that and the butler knocked on his door soon after.
“Raymond, I’m hungry.”
“I’ll get your breakfast, Anton.” Mr. Jenkins said and left immediately.
After a few moments, the butler arrived carrying a tray of food. While he was eating, he saw that the butler looked antsy.
“Do you want to ask me something?”
“We’re just worried. You slept for too long. Almost all of us thought that you were sick. I did check on you last night and saw that you were fine, but you were not responding when I attempted to wake you. We then thought that maybe it was some sort of spell. We had decided to call on a wizard after a few hours if you still haven’t woken up yet.”
“Sorry about that. You do know that the ship that my family was on was attacked by the Undead Coalition. That meant that all of my friends there had died. I was very close to them, so these bouts of depression would happen to me now and again. At least, that’s what I’ve read. I’ll meet you and the others in your office in an hour.”
After that, Raymond Jenkins left, and Anton continued eating his breakfast. When he was done, he took a long bath, and once he was done, he went to Mr. Jenkins’s office. Everyone was already waiting for him there.
“I’m sorry for what happened, and thank you all for your concern. I’m fine now. Is the treasure room ready?”
“Yes. I already purchased all the things that you will need to put your treasure there.”
“Okay. We’ll go there once we’re done with the meeting.”
In the next hour, they talked about what the manor would need specifically if Ronia and Ms. Orwells needed more funds to continue decorating the house. Surprisingly, there were still around 5000 gold coins left, and Anton just told them to spend it all to make sure that the manor is fully decorated as best as they could within the budget.
Ms. Orwells then said that if he truly wanted a luxurious mansion, another 10,000 gold coins wouldn’t hurt. Anton shrugged and immediately gave 10,000 gold coins to Ronia.
“Just make sure that the quality of the decorations is the best. Please double-check everything, Mr. Jenkins. I will be leaving soon after to return to the dungeon and will be back in another four or five days. Do any of you need anything more from me?” Anton asked, and when everyone said that they had everything they needed to make sure that the manor would function at its best for the next several months, they all went to the treasure room next.
When they arrived there, Anton retrieved the three chests that he procured from the carpenter and put them on the beautiful table that Ms. Orwells had purchased. Unfortunately, only two of the chests were filled with gold coins, but it still made everyone's eyes pop. To Anton, though, it looked sad. He then put all of the magic items that he gathered from the dungeon on the floor and asked everyone to organize them.
The small mountain of items made everyone gasp, but Anton just left them while saying that once they were done, he to inform him while he was staying in his room so he could activate the defensive array.
