Chapter 553

Chapter 553

Lunch was long, as all the girls kept talking about the film they had just watched. After several more minutes, the girls were not done, but Anton, Elianah, and Anna’s teacher, the Supreme Munetta, was long finished. The indulgent faces on Elianah and Supreme Munetta turned into exasperation.

“Girls! Finish eating, and we can continue talking in one of the manor’s salons!” Supreme Munetta scolded the girls, which made Anton smile.

Because of Anna’s teacher’s scolding, the girls hurriedly finished their food, and they all went to one of the salons that was overlooking the garden. While they all settled there, Anton briefly cast the Blizzard spell that was converted into Mana Rain so that the sweet smell of the flowers would intensify and cover the whole manor.

Anton realized then that all of the women were mages, including Elianah, her sister, Laloniah, and her friends, Mierin and Selanor. Anna’s classmates, Avina, who was also an elf, Normumu, who was a cute halfling, and Alethea, who was the only human in the group of young girls, aside from Anna, were, of course, also mages.

They all stared at Anton’s spellcasting.

“How did you do that?” Laloniah asked.

Anton saw that it was he who was being asked that question.

“What do you mean?” Anton asked the young elf.

“Immediately cast a spell without saying an incantation. You just briefly waved your hands and a magical rain poured onto your flowers,” It was one of Anna’s classmates, Alethea who continued asking.

Anton didn’t want to share any information about his magic since his excuse of having a “bloodline magic”, and that all of his spells came from that “bloodline magic” would probably not hold up in a land filled with learned wizards. So he just smiled and told the girls that it was a secret.

Thankfully, Anna caught on immediately and didn’t elaborate. Besides, the only thing Anton’s sister knew was his lie that everything came from his “Bloodline Magic”.

When Anton said that it was secret, the girls stopped asking questions about his magic. Thankfully, wizards from Ormunda probably had some sort of etiquette regarding magic, and asking about the details of a spell a wizard cast was probably frowned upon, if not an outright taboo.

After Ronia and Mary served everyone a cup of tea, the girls continued talking about the film with Anna in the lead. She basically caused envy from the other girls when she told them about all the movies and television shows that she had seen. Even Elianah was listening in to the girls’ conversation about movies, television shows, and animations.

Supreme Munetta sat beside Anton and started conversing with him.

“Anna told me that you’ve been delving on the 60th floor of the Corridors of Amuneta. Alone at that. That tells me that you’re an incredibly powerful mage. What’s your rank, and when was the last time you tested it?”

“Yes. I started delving on the 60th

floor, and it was incredibly challenging. The last time I tested my rank, which was before we arrived in Ormunda, the orb that measures wizards’ rank said that I’m an archmage.”

“It’s incredible that you’re only an archmage. As a Supreme Wizard, it would be incredibly difficult for me to challenge that floor alone. How old are you, if I may ask?”

“I’m 18 years old. I’m surprised that Anna hadn’t told you,” Anton said questioningly.

“I try to give students’ families their privacy. We only talked about things related to her growth as a wizard. Still, it’s incredible that you’re only 18 years old. I’m quite sure that you will probably reach the Invincible Rank earlier than I, and Anna would probably be the same, considering she’s only 13 years old. By the way, don’t send her high-level mana stones through mail because there’s a high chance that they will be stolen. The fact that the high-level mana stones you sent her reached her is a minor miracle. If she needed such things, she would inform me, and we would send a personal messenger to the manor,” Anna’s teacher said, and Anton replied that he would comply.

After a few minutes, Anton got tired of listening to the girls’ babbling and announced that Anna had requested that he sing to prove that the singer in the magical recorder was him. He retrieved his guitar from his inventory and checked if it was in tune. While doing so, he thought of which song to sing. He wasn’t in the mood to belt out a difficult song, so he decided to sing the simple but poignant song, Rainbow Connection. He remembered hearing Kermit the Frog singing it when he was a child, when his life on Earth was full of happiness and innocence.

Anton started singing the song Rainbow Connection. He tried his best to put on the cover the emotion of innocence and love that he remembered feeling when he first heard the song, when Kermit sang it.

After he was done and opened his eyes, he was surprised that all of the girls had tears in their eyes. Even Elianah and Supreme Munetta had suspiciously watery eyes. He felt that his cover of the song wasn’t something that people would cry when they heard it. He just shrugged and continued to sing another song.

Anton sang the song Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. He felt mischievous and wanted to see if the song would make the girls continue crying. While he was singing, he almost stopped and laughed out loud when he saw the girls crying as if their lovers had died.

After he was done singing, he stored his guitar in his inventory, stood up, and bowed to everyone. All the girls applauded loudly, including Elianah and Supreme Munetta. He heard his sister keep saying repeatedly, “I told you so! My brother’s the best bard in the world!”

“You’re sister is correct! You’re one of the best singers I’ve heard, and some of the elven bards are truly great singers, and I’ve heard them,” Elianah praised Anton.

He simply said thank you to everyone and didn’t let it go to his heart. He remembered that during the first few months arriving in this world, Anton really thought that he was probably one of the best singers in the world, but then he heard the professional performers aboard the Amelia and realized that he was just comparable to them. One of the singers said that if he truly wanted to become the best, he would need to dedicate his life to the art, but he couldn’t do something like that since the world was chaotic and danger was all around. Besides, he felt that the only reason why everyone thought that he was one of the best was because of the songs he was singing, which were the best songs that singers and writers on Earth had produced.

Everyone then requested one last song from him that afternoon, so he retrieved his guitar from his inventory and sang the song “Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)”. He had been hearing that song from the famous short video platform, and he liked it.

After he was done singing, he received another applause from the girls. Funny enough, he heard one of the girls say that she would name one of her children Rosemary someday. The others complained and said that they were also planning to do the same thing. One of them then said that they could name their daughters Rosemary. That only received another round of complaints that they couldn’t name a bunch of girls Rosemary, since it would just confuse a lot of people.

Anton laughed loudly when he heard the girls’ discussion, and Elianah and Supreme Munetta joined him, which caused all the girls to turn red in embarrassment.
