Eight Difficulties

Chapter 1678: 1678: You said you are a Remnant Soul, but you are lying.

Chapter 1678: Chapter 1678: You said you are a Remnant Soul, but you are lying.

The conversation between Aiden Roth and Carson Flores left everyone somewhat perplexed.

Though still somewhat suspicious, with two Peak True Immortals sitting by Carson’s side, who would recklessly approach and not be walking into danger?

Carson, merely an Earth Immortal, yet he had two Peak True Immortals as maidens beside him, which led everyone to more speculation.

This guy cherishes his life so much, he must be some wealthy young master out on a training excursion, right?

The Cave Mansion was obviously opened by him, yet he appeared indifferent. Clearly, compared to treasures and Cultivation Techniques, he valued his life more.

As Aiden Roth shouted loudly, chaos abruptly ensued.

Some retreated, distancing themselves from the fray; some threw large-scale attack talismans; some wielded magical treasures, indiscriminately attacking those around them; some immediately charged toward the altar, rushing to the True Solar Fire.

Carson sat cross-legged in the corner, his expression calm.

Suddenly, he felt someone watching him.

“Since you opened the Cave Mansion, you are the destined one. Why don’t you fight for the True Solar Fire and give it a try?”

Carson was startled. Wasn’t this the same ancient voice that had previously set the rules?

Whether it was an illusion or not, Carson had a feeling that this voice seemed stronger than before.

Carson glanced around but found nothing unusual, so he responded softly, “I’m not of the Fire Spirit Root, I fear I’m not fated for it, preserving my life is more important.”

“Cultivators walk a path defying the heavens, your mindset is lacking. With fortune right in front of you, not daring to fight, how can you walk further on the Immortal Path?”

“The Sun True Scripture is not limited to those with a Fire Spirit Root. Your overwhelming Sword Intent suggests you possess a Sword Spirit Body, it is not bound to the Five Elements, there is no mutual reinforcement or counteraction. Though not as harmonious as the Five Elements Spiritual Body, it also doesn’t hinder cultivation due to elemental conflict.”

“Are you really not going to try it?”

Carson’s gaze remained calm, his eyelids low, his voice steady: “There are so many geniuses here, they are definitely more suited than I am. I cultivate to live leisurely, lay flat like a salted fish, with my current strength, I can lay flat for countless years, I have no need to hurry.”

“A worthless tree cannot be carved!”

The ancient voice seemed angered by Carson’s obstinate stance, angrily scolding, “You don’t want the True Solar Fire, and you also don’t want the Sun True Scripture?”

Carson calmly retorted, “I do want it, but not to the point of risking my life. If it requires risking my life and there’s danger, then I’d rather not have it… Senior, those people are fighting to the death for the True Solar Fire. Why focus on me, an outsider?”

The ancient voice was silent for a few seconds, then coldly snorted, “I lost my life stealing the Sun True Scripture, if someone easily came in and took it, I’d be furious.”

“I also want them to bleed and fight for this chance, only the bravest, most determined, strongest, and most potential cultivators can gain my inheritance. Such a top-tier inheritance, and you display such indifference, seeing this makes me angry!”

Carson was silent for a few seconds: “Senior, you claim to be a Remnant Soul, but you are not really, are you…”

The ancient voice fell silent again, after a long while it spoke, “How did you know?”

Carson felt a chill in his heart; he had no idea if the other was a Remnant Soul; he just blurted it out to test the other.

Perhaps Carson’s consistently detached demeanor and indifference toward the True Solar Fire suddenly throwing out this revelation caught Clayton off guard, exposing him.

Clayton perhaps realized he’d been tricked, compounded by the fact the other was merely an Earth Immortal, so he couldn’t be bothered to fabricate reasons, instead directly admitted and inquired how Carson knew.

Carson feigned mystery and said, “I naturally have my methods, senior, shall we negotiate?”

Clayton asked coldly, “Negotiate what?”

Carson replied, “I initially intended to open the door and take a stroll, see if there were any relics of yours. Now that you’re still here, I naturally shouldn’t disturb you. Whether you want to pick a successor or have other plans, it doesn’t concern me. You send the three of us out, and I won’t disturb your plans, we each go our separate ways, how about it?”

Clayton’s voice turned two degrees colder: “What do you mean?”

Clayton’s demeanor made Carson more certain this Immortal Cave Mansion was a trap. Without showing any emotion, he replied, “I don’t intend to disturb any of your plans, but I want to leave alive, it’s that simple.”

Clayton scoffed, “What do you take this old man for? I’m just choosing the destined one to inherit the Sun True Scripture, nothing more. Don’t talk nonsense, or I’ll crush you with one slap.”

Carson raised an eyebrow, looked left and right, and whispered, “Though the Cave Mansion is protected by a Formation, if we all focus on attacking one point, maybe the Formation would break, huh.”

Clayton spoke in an annoyed tone, “If you have no interest, then keep watching, once it’s over, I’ll naturally send you away, but if you interfere with my selection of the destined one, you’ll be the first I eliminate.”

Carson didn’t respond further, beginning to contemplate a matter.

This place might not be as hardy as it seems on the surface; perhaps a strong enough impact might break the Prohibition here?

Is the Black Dragon Wave sufficient?
