307: Chapter 8 Raising Goodwill 307: Chapter 8 Raising Goodwill For the blonde mother and daughter, the newcomers were powerless to help.
If their strength was plentiful, they would not mind aiding others, but with their hunger and thirst barely kept at bay, they knew that each ounce of stamina was crucial to their survival.
They couldn’t afford to waste it, so they had to selectively forget about the pair and hasten their pace to leave them behind.
When the time came, they could find an excuse to justify their innocence.
Tang Zheng sighed, carried Lu Fan on his back and walked back.
Julia and her daughter had been left behind by more than four hundred meters, their figures already out of sight in the sparse tropical jungle.
“Uncle, you also know that she won’t live for long, don’t you?
But why are you still helping her?” Lu Fan was perplexed.
“Is it merely overflowing sympathy?”
“Perhaps.
If we left them behind, they might get eaten by dinosaurs before dusk.” Tang Zheng just felt that his stamina was still alright, so he’d lend a hand if he could.
“Newcomers are already struggling to survive, not to mention Julia who also brought her daughter along.
She can’t fight, and she’s definitely a burden when running.
Why am I doing this?” Tang Zheng grumbled, not even understanding his own behavior.
“Look at it as increasing your goodwill.
At the very least, everyone will view you in a better light, thinking you’re a good person.” Lu Fan counted on his fingers, trying hard to think of the benefits of rescuing others, “Besides, it’s not dangerous now.
You just have to expend a little energy.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t be dumb enough to rescue them when the dinosaurs attack.
You see?
Right now, I have to portray myself as harmless and kindhearted, a good guy!” Tang Zheng ruffled the little loli’s hair with a big smile, “At the very least, we need everyone to agree with us.”
“Yay, with uncle, Fanfan will have meat to eat.
I’m so happy.” Lu Fan sang unabashedly, like a lark.
Watching the young eastern man carry the little loli back on his back, half of the newcomers in the back turned their heads to watch.
Their gaze on his retreating figure was indescribably complex.
“They both have children, so they need to support each other.” The woman who was the first to enter the room, Chris, dressed in tight Capri pants, couldn’t stand the silent atmosphere and offered her commentary.
The newcomers knew that Chris’s words could alleviate the awkwardness of not helping others, so no one rebutted.
However, everyone secretly sneered.
Support?
That young man named Tang could leave them in the dust all by himself.
Even a fool could tell that if everyone here died, he would still survive.
“Maybe he just went to the toilet.” A hooligan who disliked Tang Zheng slandered him, but with little impact.
“But that young man’s stamina is incredible.
He’s been carrying the little girl and a backpack for so long without looking tired.
We don’t need to worry about him.” The driver, Brant, touched his potbelly with a face full of envy.
Tang Zheng’s stamina was too good.
Miranda, wiping the sweat off her forehead, would occasionally glance back at Tang Zheng’s retreating figure.
She was contemplating how to leverage this kind-hearted fool to her advantage.
She had already removed her high heels, and her evening gown was soaked through, clinging to her skin provocatively.
Not only the two hooligans, but also Defoe with the fishing rod, policeman Stevenson, and bartender Anthony, all had their eyes filled with greed.
When no one was looking, they eyed her exposed back and plump buttocks.
Tang Zheng, oblivious to these conversations concerning him, just walked back for five or six minutes before discovering the blonde mother and daughter.
They were so exhausted that they couldn’t walk anymore and were sitting on the ground, taking a rest.
“Need help?”
Upon watching the others moving further and further away, clearly intending to abandon her, a sense of helplessness overwhelmed Julia.
In this silent rainforest, she felt an infinite panic.
She tried to catch up but fell due to exhaustion.
Her knees were scraped by the stones.
Julia had given up.
However, when she suddenly heard that question, she was startled, and then the corners of her mouth stretched into an ecstatic smile.
Oh God, you haven’t abandoned me!
Lifting her head, Julia saw an eastern face full of mystery.
The sunlight scattered through the trees, casting a mottled glow on his face, making him look even more handsome and holy.
“Are you hurt?” Noticing the tear stains on Julia’s face and not calling her out, Tang Zheng squatted down, took out a roll of bandage, grabbed her calf, and without removing her black stockings, directly bandaged her knee.
Being grabbed by the leg by a man other than her husband, Julia reflexively struggled a bit before allowing him to proceed.
“There’s no water to clean the wound, so bear with it.” Tang Zheng wouldn’t waste water on her.
After completing the task, he stood up.
“Thank you for your water.” Julia knew she wouldn’t have dared to drink the water given by her daughter without Tang Zheng’s permission earlier.
Now, she finally had the chance to thank him.
“Where is your daughter’s backpack?” Tang Zheng saw only two M41A guns and a backpack and furrowed his brows.
“That scarred man took it.” Julia saw her supplies disappear into his hands, and it felt magical.
She asked, “Do you know some mysterious oriental magic?”
“No, let’s keep moving.” Tang Zheng, dragging Lu Fan along, set out again, “Don’t worry, I’ll return your gun.”
Julia felt a lump in her throat, tears almost spilling out.
He didn’t even ask if she could walk, just told her to continue.
This was too cold-hearted.
Nonetheless, she knew it was unavoidable.
His willingness to lend a hand was already beyond generous.
The familiar sound of footsteps was heard again in the forest.
Julia felt as if she had ascended from hell to heaven.
Hearing the footsteps, Julia felt as if she had returned to heaven from hell,
“You’re so lucky.” The blonde loli, trailing behind her mother, looked enviously at Lu Fan lying on Tang Zheng’s back and gave a shout, but the girl was well-behaved and didn’t ask her mother to carry her.
“Uncle, could you give her a piggyback for a while?” Lu Fan slid off Tang Zheng’s back after she finished speaking.
Aware of her weakness, she had focused on boosting her stamina, to ensure she wouldn’t collapse while running for her life.
Moreover, due to the quadruple effect of her Firefly fireproof suit, her physical endurance was actually better than that of the chubby Driver Brant.
Tang Zheng, wanting to catch up with the main group as fast as possible, picked up the golden-haired loli.
Little Demi cheered, hugged Tang Zheng’s neck, and giggled at her mother.
When they saw the backs of the newbies again, Julia breathed a sigh of relief.
She really wanted to ask Tang Zheng why he had helped her, but she felt it was too hurtful to ask, and she couldn’t bring herself to speak.
Julia wasn’t the type of woman who had a high opinion of herself, and she didn’t think she was attractive enough to captivate men.
Seeing Tang Zheng carrying the little girl and the blond young woman, the newbies showed disapproving looks and began to despise the hooligan who had spoken ill of him.
“Well done, like a knight.” Nicole, leading the group with her dad, saw Tang Zheng catching up and quietly slowed down to wait for him.
“If my dad had seen it, he would have helped Julia.”
“Like your knight-dad?
I’d rather be a demon.” Tang Zheng glanced at Nicole’s chest.
He remember seeing her underwear just now, so why was she friendly?
“You bastard.” Nicole’s cheeks reddened slightly and she warned, “Don’t speak ill of my dad, or I’ll ignore you.”
“Alright.” Tang Zheng wasn’t good at handling such girls and felt a bit of a headache.
However, as he was about to offer a polite response, he heard the faint sound of running.
“Shh.” Tang Zheng made a motion for silence, picked up the M4A1 hanging in front of his chest, and lowered Little Demi from his back after cocking the gun.
“Move quickly.” Lu Fan quickly ran to Tang Zheng’s side, and the blonde young woman, realizing something was amiss, followed suit.
“What’s up?” Nicole also raised her gun to stay alert and then, thinking of her father, wanted to rush over to him.
“Don’t panic.” Tang Zheng grabbed Nicole’s arm.
Sure enough, David and others also stopped in the next breath, waving their hands, signaling everyone to be quiet.
“No matter what happens, don’t get separated from the big group.
Now, crouch down and keep low.” Tang Zheng spoke softly, positioned the gun against his shoulder, pointed the muzzle forward, and listened carefully to the noise.
The running sound was getting louder, mixed with the growl of beasts.
Everyone knew that a group of dinosaurs was heading their way.
Especially when several three-meter-tall bipedal running dinosaurs emerged from the right side about thirty meters away, the newbies all started to breathe faster, with a few even trying to climb trees.
Tang Zheng, Jack, and Leonard were the quickest to react.
They activated their electronic sticks, and a purple laser-like light immediately enveloped the dinosaurs.
“Don’t worry; these are Anatidomimetic dinosaurs, a kind of herbivorous dinosaur.” Noticing the description on the virtual screen, Jack immediately shouted out, soothing everyone.
The panic amongst the group subsided, and they relaxed a little.
“No, something’s wrong.
Find shelter or climb a tree.
Hide quickly.” Tang Zheng’s face changed.
He let go of his rifle and held Little Demi under his arm.
With one hand, he grabbed Lu Fan.
He glanced briefly and chose a tree that seemed easy to climb.
He ran towards it and, when he was half a metre away, suddenly jumped up.
With the force of inertia, he ran up about three metres, then a vine thick as a wrist caught his left arm, and finally, he successfully landed on a tree crotch as thick as a thigh.
The rookies remained stunned, dumbfounded by Tang Zheng’s impressive tree-climbing moves.
“He’s sure moves like an Eastern monkey.” A thug looked on with a mixture of envy, jealousy, and resentment—he wanted a body like that, too.
“You could take the gymnastics gold at the Olympics.” Jack waved to Tang Zheng and laughed, “Don’t worry, there will be no problem.”
Miranda stared at Tang Zheng, her eyes filled with fascination.
She then climbed the closest tree along with two waiters.
The prostitute, Jenny, was also quick to react, and a few seconds later, some others also started climbing trees.
“Coward.” Danny mocked, deliberately making sure that Natalie heard him.
“Notice their cries.
Would the duck-billed dinosaurs run in panic for no reason?
Other carnivorous dinosaurs must be following them.”
At Tang Zheng’s explanation, the faces of the remaining rookies on the ground turned pale.
A predator that could have a group of duck-billed dinosaurs on the run – what a formidable dinosaur it must be.
So they hurriedly began to scurry up the trees like monkeys with their asses on fire.
