Chapter 604: Chapter 604: Making Sure You Can Never Reconcile
Although she didn’t want to admit it, she seemed to have misunderstood something.
Chi Yue frantically took out her phone, her hands trembling as she tried several times before she managed to dial Fu Xingchuan’s number.
“Is it my imagination, or did my goddess actually call me?”
Fu Xingchuan’s voice was still as flippant as ever.
Chi Yue took a deep breath and asked, “You told me last time that you found a suitable liver donor…”
“Ah… that, you didn’t agree, right? So I didn’t proceed with it. What’s up?”
Chi Yue trembled all over and abruptly hung up the phone.
It was obvious who had helped Bai Dongyang with the liver transplant.
Bai Bixuan only then realized that Chi Yue had misunderstood, even though she had already told Chi Yue the truth. Still, she needed to call and verify; this showed that deep down, Chi Yue didn’t trust Fu Rongyin.
No wonder, Fu Rongyin had told her not to tell Chi Yue because he knew she wouldn’t believe him.
After dinner, Chi Yue stood on the second-floor balcony to feel the breeze.
Bai Bixuan, holding a glass of red wine, came over, “You’re going back tomorrow. When you have time, bring Mianmian here to visit; this is still your home.”
Chi Yue took the wine glass, “Thank you.”
Her worries were written all over her face, her brows tinged with a hint of melancholy.
Bai Bixuan didn’t want to bring up that matter again, but now she couldn’t help herself, “It was he who didn’t let me tell you. I didn’t expect that you would think it was Fu Xingchuan’s doing.”
Chi Yue lowered her eyes, looking at a streetlight not far away, and remained silent.
“Chi Yue, haven’t you noticed that you seem to be avoiding the issue between you and Fu Rongyin? Like today, after hearing what I said, you still had to call Fu Xingchuan to confirm because deep down, you resist the truth.”
Chi Yue still didn’t react much, “I just don’t want to owe him…”
Bai Bixuan took in a sharp breath, “It seems it is still he who understands you. Do you know what he said when he told me not to tell you? He said if you found out, you would feel indebted to him, and he doesn’t want you to feel that way.”
Chi Yue clenched her fist, even able to picture his attitude as he said those words.
Seeing Chi Yue conflicted, Bai Bixuan patted her, “I’ll only tell you this much; I won’t say more. A relationship is a matter between two people, and I trust you can handle it well.”
That night, Chi Yue didn’t sleep well.
At dawn, she got up, tinkered in the kitchen for a while, then left the house carrying a small box.
Her flight was in the afternoon, so she had time to take care of some other matters.
Leaving Hai City, Chi Yue returned to the company for the first time, surprising the employees. She told them she had come back to look around.
Carrying the box, Chi Yue reached the top-floor office. When the secretary saw her, she was so shocked she could hardly speak. Chi Yue asked her, “Is Fu Rongyin in?”
The secretary nodded, almost speaking out but then stopping herself.
Chi Yue said, “Don’t tell him; I’m just here to look around.”
Before the secretary could react, Chi Yue was already at the office door, covering her pounding heart as she hurriedly fled the scene.
Just as Chi Yue was about to push the door open, she heard Lu Nanxi’s voice from inside, “Ah Yin, I’ve done you a favor, when are you going to keep your promise?”
Fu Rongyin’s voice was cold, “What promise?”
“You said that if I managed this for you, you would marry me… You haven’t mentioned it for so long, have you forgotten? Ah Yin, even if you have forgotten, it’s useless; I have a recording as proof. You wouldn’t want such a thing to fall into Chi Yue’s hands, would you?”
“Do you think you can threaten me?”
“It’s not a threat, really, but just making sure you can never reconcile with her, Ah Yin. You know I can do it.”
There was silence inside for a while. Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and Chi Yue stood outside with a cold expression.
