Chapter 649: Chapter 649: Gritting Teeth

Chi Yue took a deep breath, trying to have a calm conversation with him, “Haven’t you already gone back to Hai City? Why did you come back?”

“The work there is done, where else would I go if not back here?”

“Fine, you’re back, but why did you send Mianmian’s grandfather away?”

Fu Rongyin spoke earnestly, “He’s been working hard taking care of the kids, and now that I’m here for a while, it’s the perfect time for him to relax.”

Chi Yue knew that everything he was saying was twisted logic, but she couldn’t find an excuse to refute his words. Still irritated, she whispered, “You’re just twisting words to suit your purpose!”

A hint of amusement flashed through the man’s clear eyes, “If you don’t believe me, you can ask him yourself.”

Chi Yue glared at him, “Fu Rongyin, I really don’t know how your shamelessness has increased so much! No matter what you do, or how you do it, I won’t change my mind about divorcing you.”

Fu Rongyin replied, “I also won’t agree to divorce you, and the evidence for your divorce lawsuit is inadmissible.”

Chi Yue ground her teeth, “Our relationship is broken beyond repair; there’s no possibility of reconciliation.”

The man’s gaze grew dark, and he stepped around the long table to stand in front of her, suddenly leaning in close, “Broken relationship? But we were in such harmony last night.”

Remembering the heart-racing scenes from the night before, Chi Yue couldn’t help but blush, yet she refused to back down, “That was you forcing me!”

The man raised an eyebrow slightly, “As I recall, later on, it was you who held me tight…”

Chi Yue’s face turned beet red, and she left the study as if fleeing.

Back in the master bedroom, she locked the door and checked it several times before she felt relieved to leave it.

After washing her face and calming the heat on her cheeks, it suddenly occurred to her that when she left last night, Nan Bingyu was in the midst of Xi Yihang’s confession; she wondered whether Nan Bingyu had ultimately rejected him.

The phone rang a few times before being answered, Nan Bingyu’s cheerful voice came through from the other end, “You finally remembered me.”

Chi Yue’s face, which had just returned to normal, flushed again, “I just got free, how are things on your side? Did you accept him?”

“You don’t know?”

“Know what?”

Nan Bingyu said meaningfully, “What exactly have you been so busy with that you couldn’t even find out about this with a little inquiry? Tell the truth!”

Chi Yue lied with her eyes wide open, “I really just forgot because I was busy, quickly tell me, what happened last night?”

“I was intending to use the two kids to turn him down, but before I could even speak, Lady Fan showed up, putting on the airs of a mother-in-law and took Xi Yihang away.”

Imagining that scene, Nan Bingyu still couldn’t help feeling astonished; among all the people she had met, Lady Fan’s skin was the thickest, without equal.

It was she who had abandoned Xi Yihang years ago, and now, with no one to exploit, she managed to coax Xi Yihang after a few smooth talks, wondering if he would be infuriated by himself if he ever regained his memories.

However, Chi Yue was thinking about something else.

“She’s come to Nancheng again?”

If that was the case, it meant that the Gu Family’s issues had been resolved.

But as far as she knew, the situation was quite problematic; how could it have been resolved so quickly?

“Yeah, and I also know that she’s lost her leverage over Fu Rongyin. I’m guessing she’ll set her sights on you again, so watch out during this time.”

“Okay, you too be careful with Xi Yihang.”

Nan Bingyu sighed, “If it really comes down to it, I could sacrifice my looks. If you need me, just tell me.”

Chi Yue: “…Okay.”

After hanging up, Chi Yue went into the bathroom, and when she came out, she took her laptop to the balcony.

Having slept all day, she was wide awake and decided to expand her business instead.

Last time, Dai Qiu mentioned that the online exposure had greatly affected the studio’s business, and recently there had been an increase in work. Chi Yue planned to use online resources to take on a few jobs with stories that mattered and do something meaningful.

After spending two hours coming up with a plan, Chi Yue was satisfied with her work and started packing up to rest.

When she turned around, Fu Rongyin was standing behind her, and she didn’t know how long he’d been watching.
