Chapter 747: Chapter 747: Fu Mianmian is Missing
Chi Yue was about to speak when Chi Jianshan called again. She decisively hung up Zhan Youyou’s call and answered Chi Jianshan’s.
“Yueyue, Mianmian is missing, she’s gone, you need to send someone to look for her…”
Chi Jianshan’s voice was very urgent, with the sound of wind and horns occasionally coming through the receiver.
Chi Yue looked at the time; it was exactly when Fu Mianmian got out of school, meaning Chi Jianshan was at Fu Mianmian’s kindergarten’s gate at that moment.
Chi Yue’s face changed and she grabbed her bag and ran outside.
Chu Shuo, taking long strides, chased after her, “What’s the matter?”
Chi Yue had already hung up the phone, descending the stairs in a panic, “My daughter is missing, she’s not at the kindergarten.”
Upon hearing this, Chu Shuo’s expression changed, “Slow down and tell me exactly what happened?”
Chi Yue repeated what Chi Jianshan had said on the phone, “We still can’t figure out what’s going on, I need to call the police.”
Discharging students and then not being able to find them at the kindergarten was definitely a situation that warranted police intervention.
However, Chu Shuo said, “You go ahead and call the police, and I’ll have someone check the nearby surveillance. Don’t panic, I’ll take you there.”
Given Chi Yue’s current state, she was likely unable to drive herself, so the two of them got into Chu Shuo’s car and quickly left.
On the way, Chi Yue made several more calls to confirm that the police had arrived at the kindergarten, and she instructed Chi Jianshan to watch the gate well and also check the kindergarten’s surveillance.
Having done all this, she soon calmed down.
How could it be such a coincidence that right after Zhan Youyou called to say Fu Rongyin wouldn’t be coming back, Fu Mianmian went missing?
If these two things were related…
Chi Yue dared not think further.
Chu Shuo accelerated the car significantly, luckily it wasn’t rush hour, and a thirty-minute trip took only twenty minutes.
Chi Jianshan was reviewing the surveillance in the monitor room, accompanied by the police.
Once Chi Yue understood the situation, her heart sank even more.
Fu Mianmian had actually gone missing in the kindergarten!
She glared at the tremulous school staff being questioned by the police, their voice trembling as they spoke.
The children at this kindergarten were either rich or noble; just mentioning one could uncover a background too significant for them to offend. Now with a child going missing within the premises, they, being at fault, didn’t know what consequences they would face.
“Found her!”
Someone shouted, and people immediately gathered around.
They saw a woman in the uniform of the teachers, frantically carrying away the sleeping Fu Mianmian.
The Director saw the woman and shouted, “This person is not a teacher at our kindergarten!”
As long as it wasn’t a teacher from their school, it wasn’t greatly related to their kindergarten.
Yet, just then, Chi Yue spoke icily, “Your kindergarten prides itself on tight security, yet you didn’t notice an outsider had infiltrated? Or are you saying that your security isn’t as good as advertised?”
The Director wiped his forehead nervously, “That’s not… that’s not what I meant.”
“If you can’t find my child within an hour, I will make your kindergarten’s inaction known to the nation.”
The Director’s face paled, but he had no rebuttal. Instead, he turned to the police for help, asking them to hurry and recover the child.
With the surveillance footage showing that Fu Mianmian had been taken away, the police quickly proceeded with their investigation.
Chi Yue could do nothing but fret.
“Don’t worry. I’ve also sent people to search. It’s only been half an hour since the incident; they’re definitely still in Nancheng. As long as they dare to leave the city, they will definitely be caught.”
Only upon hearing Chu Shuo’s voice did Chi Yue realize that Chu Shuo hadn’t left.
She gratefully and somewhat apologetically said, “Sorry for the trouble again.”
“If you consider me a friend, you wouldn’t say that.”
“…Thank you.”
Chi Yue was relieved that Chu Shuo didn’t use Fu Mianmian’s situation as leverage at this time. This friend, she hadn’t misjudged.
She had planned on finding a reasonable excuse to refuse his help, but now it seemed impossible to say no.
Chi Yue thought of Fu Rongyin; she dialed Fu Rongyin’s number, the phone indicated a busy signal.
Chu Shuo was also fiddling with his phone; she glanced over as Chu Shuo dialed Fu Rongyin’s number and put it on speakerphone, and surprisingly, the call went through.
