Chapter 804: Chapter 804: Do You Actually Believe What People Tell Kids?
Chi Yue shook her head, "I haven’t had a chance to ask Fu Rongyin yet."
"Alright, I understand. Let’s go see Mianmian, and find out what that deranged woman actually did to a child!"
The two walked as they talked, when suddenly, Chi Yue stopped.
"What’s wrong?" Nan Bingyu asked, puzzled.
Chi Yue looked back towards the registration window, confused, "Did I see it wrong?"
Nan Bingyu followed her gaze but saw nothing, "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing, let’s go."
The two entered the elevator. After the elevator doors closed, someone stepped out from behind a stone pillar not far away.
Leng Siling exhaled with relief, almost discovered.
She threw away the registration slip and decisively switched hospitals.
If Chi Yue saw her, she would have noticed that the usually flamboyantly dressed Leng Siling had changed into loose clothes and flat shoes.
...
Just as Chi Yue was about to push the door open at the hospital room, Nan Bingyu stopped her.
Inside, Fu Mianmian’s voice came through, "Daddy, Auntie says you’re going to divorce Mommy because you’ve fallen in love with her, is that true?"
Chi Yue paused, exchanging a glance with Nan Bingyu, and both remained silent.
After waiting for a while, they finally heard Fu Rongyin’s voice.
"Why would Mianmian believe what others say?"
"Do you love Mommy?"
Fu Rongyin chuckled softly, "How could I not love her?"
He loved her, now and always, never changing.
"Do you love Mommy like you love me?"
"Of course not, Daddy loves Mommy more, that’s why I love you too, because you are ours."
Nan Bingyu instinctively looked at Chi Yue, trying to read something from her expression, but saw nothing.
She whispered, "Aren’t you even a bit touched?"
Chi Yue met Nan Bingyu’s teasing gaze; her calmness was almost frightening, "You believe words meant to deceive children?"
With that, she turned and headed for the doctor’s office.
Nan Bingyu wanted to follow, but then Xi Yihang called, urging her to hurry as they had an appointment with a client that afternoon.
Nan Bingyu, having worked on this case for a long time, was reluctant to leave, but quickly explained to Chi Yue and left.
Chi Yue consulted with the doctor and then returned to the hospital room where Fu Mianmian had fallen asleep again.
Probably due to excessive blood loss, she spent most of her time sleeping, but fortunately, all her indicators were stable, and if she continued this way, she would soon be discharged and able to recuperate at home.
Fu Rongyin was handling work nearby. Noticing her return, he closed his laptop, "The surveillance has been restored; it clearly captured Lu Nanxi’s face. What do you plan to do?"
Chi Yue hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly, but she knew that a single piece of surveillance wasn’t enough to incarcerate her for life.
This surveillance could surely incarcerate her, but Chi Yue wanted more — she wanted her never to get out.
After a brief silence, she asked, "Did you hear about the incident with the Gu Family?"
Fu Rongyin nodded slightly, "What’s the matter?"
"I suspect Lu Nanxi did this with Lu Cheng’s help; can you investigate over there?" She added, "And our company should be managed by you; I can’t spare the energy."
A faint smile seemed to appear on Fu Rongyin’s brow, "Alright, I’ll check it out."
He lowered his gaze and resumed work, sensing her eyes lingering on him, making him look up again, "Is there anything else?"
Chi Yue was actually shocked by her own thoughtless words earlier; unable to avert her gaze quickly enough, she was caught in the act and had no choice but to bravely say, "Did Lu Nanxi deliberately cause the loss of her own child?"
