San Tian Liang Jiao
Chapter 283 Cape Scramble (19)
At least in one matter, Shiva and Seven Kills were right—Feng Bujue had indeed been found by one of the “heroes” in the script.
Perhaps it was the instruction of the so-called “Highest Will,” or perhaps it was the system's arrangement, but as Feng Bujue drove the car he had acquired from Two-Face towards Wayne Manor, he encountered the one person he least wanted to see.
A shadow plunged straight down from the sky, landing on the car's hood with a loud thud.
Feng Bujue reacted with lightning speed, slamming on the brakes, but his opponent was not thrown off by the inertia. Instead, he stood there steadily.
A jet-black cloak, a dark-colored bodysuit, distinct muscle contours, and crimson eyes.
He was Jason Todd. The former second-generation Robin, later Red Hood, and now the pseudo-Batman.
Todd's bat-mask also had a metal mask attached, and his torso was draped with a row of bullets like Rambo. As Gotham City's most brutal hero, his biggest difference from the real Batman was…he used dual pistols and killed people.
Bang, bang, bang…
The windshield was shattered by a volley of bullets, instantly adding six or seven bullet holes to the driver's seat.
Who was Feng Bujue? How could he be killed by such an attack? The moment he saw it was Todd, he activated Spiritual Sense Gathering Technique (Ling識聚身術) without a word, kicking open the car door and leaping out. His movements were fluid and incredibly fast. If he had been even a fraction slower, he would have been riddled with holes.
“Where do you think you're going?” Todd was incredibly fast, catching up to Feng Bujue in his Spiritual Sense Gathering Technique state in three seconds, unleashing a vicious attack as he spoke.
Feng Bujue failed to dodge this blow, taking a solid knee strike to the back. For the ten seconds following the hit, Feng Bujue was in a state of suffocation, unable to breathe, and his chest churned with qi and blood.
But he endured the pain, using the momentum to roll forward and quickly reveal the bombs on his body. “Don't come any closer!” he shouted, using the last of his breath.
Todd paused, halting his attack.
“Haa… haa…” Feng Bujue knelt on one knee, finally catching his breath after a long time.
The two were now in the middle of the main road, but due to Gotham City's poor security situation, there were hardly any pedestrians on the street, and very few cars. In the dark alleys, however, pairs of sinister eyes were peering at them.
“This trick really works every time.” Seeing that the situation had temporarily stabilized, Feng Bujue quickly deactivated the Spiritual Sense Gathering Technique, stopping the loss of his health. He stood up shakily and wiped his mouth. That strike had been brutal, even knocking his saliva out.
“You think I really care if you or anyone nearby gets blown up?” Todd's hoarse, deep voice came from under the metal mask, sounding quite like the real Batman.
“Of course you don't care,” Feng Bujue sneered. “I think…you just see that the explosives strapped to me are incredibly powerful. At this distance, even with the protection of a Kevlar bodysuit and memory cloth polymer cloak, you'd definitely be blown to smithereens along with me.”
“Hmph…” Todd also sneered, putting away his dual pistols. “You seem to know a lot, kid… Your dodging skills at the beginning weren't bad either.”
“If I hadn't dodged those shots, we'd both be finished right now,” Feng Bujue retorted.
“Yeah… I'll be more careful next time I shoot someone,” Todd said sarcastically. “There are more and more people running around with bombs strapped to themselves these days.”
“Ha!” Feng Bujue wasn't about to lose in a battle of wits. “Compared to someone impersonating Batman with guns, running around with bombs isn't that strange, is it?”
Todd's voice suddenly turned cold. “I am Batman.”
“Hahahaha…” Feng Bujue was getting into it now. “Jason… Jason…” he said, directly calling out the other's name. “What would Bruce think if he saw you like this?”
This name undoubtedly touched Todd's raw nerve. He suddenly roared, “Don't mention that name in front of me!” he snarled. “Who are you? How do you know…”
“Look at the way you are…” Feng Bujue interrupted him. “You look absolutely ridiculous.” He quoted a line from the comic book when Jason fought Tim, “Like a kid playing ‘trick or treat.’”
Todd was silent for a few seconds, not allowing himself to be further provoked. “You remind me of someone…”
“Hahahaha…” Feng Bujue deliberately imitated the Joker, letting out a manic laugh. “What? Seeing another Robin killed makes you think of something unpleasant?” He tried to distract the other party to find an opportunity to escape. “You think killing ‘him’ once on Earth-51 makes you invincible? You should get psychological treatment, Jason, because you're just as crazy as he is.”
“Enough!” Todd roared, his cloak billowing as he spun around and charged.
He was incredibly fast, and combined with the initial momentum of his movement, he left an afterimage in Feng Bujue's eyes.
His superb skills and superhuman physique made it difficult for Feng Bujue to parry. In the blink of an eye, the other party closed in again, landing another blow to his ribs.
Feng Bujue, who had been at full health, was now down to only 27% of his health after Todd's two strikes, demonstrating the strength of the heroes in this script.
“Where's the detonator?” Todd grabbed Feng Bujue by the collar and demanded.
“Hehe… who knows? But I have to remind you, if I lose consciousness, like…if you knock me out, the bombs will explode too.” Of course, Feng Bujue was lying, but his level of deception was obvious to all, his expression and tone exuding confidence.
“There are many ways to incapacitate you…” Todd grinned under his mask. “I've always wanted to see what this stuff would do to you lunatics.” In his hand, a small green bottle had appeared.
With a flick of Todd's wrist, a cloud of green smoke shot out of the bottle, heading straight for Feng Bujue's face.
“Cough… cough, cough…” Under the other party's restraint, Feng Bujue was unable to avoid it and inhaled several mouthfuls of the gas.
“Have a taste of fear, you lunatic!” Todd said.
As soon as he said that, Feng Bujue understood what he had inhaled. It was the Scarecrow's (real name Jonathan Crane, a supervillain, doctor of psychology and biochemistry, and former Gotham University professor) fear toxin.
In the "Battle for the Cowl" comic, Todd stole some fear toxin from the Batcave and used it against Nightwing. But he didn't expect that Nightwing had already been vaccinated against all known variants of the fear toxin, so he wasn't afraid at all, only feeling a slight effect on his sense of direction. Thinking he had the situation under control, Todd then revealed a flaw, which became the turning point for his ultimate defeat by Nightwing.
“Hehe… hehehe…” After about ten seconds, Feng Bujue looked at the other party with a smile. “Seriously, Jason. Do you have any more of this stuff? Give me some more.”
