Chapter 876 Can't Be a Coward
The hearing was over, and there weren't any pressing matters for the next few days.
Su Yehao figured he'd lend a hand, so he gladly accepted Vera's invitation and prepared to tour Portugal.
In his opinion, Vera's family shouldn't have many treasures.
Firstly, the Andrad family ran a gallery business. Even if they came across good items, they wouldn't keep them, selling them for a profit.
Secondly, her family was large, having split up at the beginning of the last century. Vera's branch had come to Casino precisely because they were a bit down on their luck, struggling to make ends meet, so they came to try their fortune.
Thirdly, if they truly possessed priceless treasures, like masterpieces by Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Monet, or even Picasso, they could easily sell them for a high price and cash out. They wouldn't need to worry about a broken cash flow. Even using them as collateral for a bank loan would be considered a hard currency, never lacking buyers.
The French cuisine at the restaurant was passable when eaten occasionally.
Su Yehao had a large appetite. Aside from the appetizers and desserts, he ordered three main courses: pan-fried scallops with foie gras, beef bourguignon, and baked Camembert cheese. He managed to turn French cuisine into something resembling Chinese food, with several plates in front of him, plus a bowl of French onion soup to cleanse his palate.
The restaurant owner, who also served as the chef, wasn't usually an easy person to get along with, but he wouldn't dare show any temper in front of Su Yehao. He greeted him with a smile, afraid of not providing adequate service, and even sent over three servings of Italian black truffle desserts.
After finishing the meal, Su Yehao called Nangong Tian to proactively report his situation.
Since there was nothing to hide, he planned to take her and Jiang Yu to Portugal for a trip, and maybe visit some local attractions.
After staying home for several days, he wanted to get out and about.
Due to timely control measures, the risks in Europe were much lower than in Hong Kong and other places.
Concerts, film crew shoots, and the newly opened Sweet Fish Cinema had all been put on hold. Nangong Tian naturally had no objections and immediately agreed to discuss it with Jiang Yu.
Two more days passed in the blink of an eye.
Only when he boarded the plane did Su Yehao realize something was amiss. Facing Jiang Yu's strange gaze, he pretended to fall asleep as soon as he got on the plane, asking for an eye mask and blanket to rest on the seat.
There was no way around it. It was a shura field; he had to play it safe.
The Gulfstream V private jet wasn't that big. Nangong Tian, Jiang Yu, Vera, and Zhao Yimeng, the four little sweethearts he had picked out, were all there, along with Linda Yun, his personal secretary. Su Yehao instantly realized that he shouldn't have let them gather together.
Given the current situation, even if he swore to the heavens that it was just an accident, Jiang Yu probably wouldn't believe him.
Even the little girl who always put Brother Hao first now had the urge to grind her teeth and beat him to the ground.
…
Not long after pretending to sleep, Su Yehao actually dozed off.
Jiang Yu, Zhao Yimeng, and Vera were on good terms. If anyone was to blame, it was only that someone was still not giving up, and had proposed playing cards, with the loser being replaced.
A tall flight attendant in her twenties came over to serve juice. Seeing this lively scene, she didn't feel Su Yehao's dire straits at all. She only regretted that she wasn't bad looking herself, so why hadn't she been flirted with? She was considering whether she should take the initiative sometime in the future.
Her profession seemed good on the surface, but when you thought about it carefully, it could be accurately described as an "air hostess."
Compared to pouring tea, serving water, and cleaning the cabin, who wouldn't want to own a private jet? Even if they were both flying in the sky, they represented two completely different lives.
After a king bomb, Nangong Tian played a straight flush and went out, saying triumphantly, "My luck is great today. If I remember correctly, the last time we all got together was when Vera's new gallery opened, right? Vera, don't worry too much. Brother Hao has dispatched a secret team. As long as your uncle dares to show his face, he won't be able to escape."
Vera felt a little guilty.
She had said before that she wanted to "save" Su Yehao, but in reality, she knew that there was a selfish motive involved. She wanted to experience what it felt like to be in love, even if only in spirit.
As a newbie, she had underestimated the magic in it and felt like she was getting a little caught up, which was why she deliberately reduced the number of times she communicated with Su Yehao via email.
It was true that she was a little simple-minded, but Vera wasn't stupid. Of course, she wouldn't be foolish enough to confess in front of the person involved, not even to Zhao Yimeng.
Clumsily shuffling the cards, Vera asked, "What kind of secret team?"
"Haha… it's not easy to tell you, it involves some confidential work. But I heard Brother Hao mention that your uncle's model mistress is a loyal Hermès bag collector. She fled in a hurry this time, leaving behind a whole wall of bags. She also likes Christian Louboutin shoes, so we should be able to find clues by starting with them."
As soon as Nangong Tian finished speaking, Vera asked blankly, "How do we find them? Are we going to send people to guard every store?"
"…"
Hearing this, Zhao Yimeng felt a little tired and said weakly, "Of course we're going to investigate the purchase data. Few people buy so many Hermès for collection. By comparing the places your uncle might have gone, we might find clues."
"That's right, anyway, someone is already working on these things. I guess it won't be long before we get results. That model also logged into her newsmicroblog account at a hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She should still be in Rio de Janeiro now."
After hearing these words, Vera's eyes lit up a bit, and she belatedly said, "Wouldn't that mean that as long as we keep an eye on the stores in Brazil, we have a chance to follow the clues and find my uncle's whereabouts?"
They lived in Portugal and Casino respectively, and they only saw each other once every two years on average.
Vera didn't have much affection for her uncle, who ran a Ponzi scheme and ran away with the money. She just wanted to catch him as soon as possible.
Her upbringing was what it was. Even if Miss Vera wasn't enthusiastic about socializing, she still cared about the family's honor. Now, there were a lot of people on the Portuguese internet scolding the Andrad family for ripping people off, and the newspapers were also joining in the fun, pointing fingers.
Some desperate investors even called Vera's company and cursed loudly, making her mother cry.
Under these circumstances, Vera certainly wanted her uncle to be caught as soon as possible.
Jiang Yu yawned and said calmly, "Brazil is a very large place. He disappeared after checking out of the hotel, and he paid in cash. He also only used the computers in the hotel. It's still not certain that we can find him. It's enough for you to know these things, don't tell anyone else. If it gets to the ears of the media, it will put your uncle on alert."
Logically speaking, it would be difficult to find any more clues after Vera's uncle ran away.
With Su Yehao's help, the situation was immediately different. He had hired several top certified investigators from the United States to search for clues in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
There would be a reward for helping to catch the person, only five hundred thousand dollars, which was enough to tempt them.
