Chapter 33 Living Dead

Hearing my voice, the three of them froze for about two seconds. Perhaps they were too surprised to hear me clearly, so I repeated myself, my tone much louder than before:

"Run... quickly...!"

Only then did Fatty hear me clearly. He immediately pulled Rouyi and Han Yu and ran quickly into the hole on the left.

The wall was like an ice cap about to crack on a glacier. A crack extended from the room I was in with a "creak" sound. The walls of several connected rooms shattered one after another under the influence of the crack.

After the wall shattered, people inside surged out from the wall like a spring, rushing towards me.

These people who came out of the wall were expressionless, lifeless, their eyes cloudy and dull, their limbs stiff, like the living dead.

They were the people of the perished Gakyal God Kingdom.

However, there were also a few people wearing modern outdoor mountaineering clothes mixed in the crowd. The poor mountaineers had accidentally entered the underground palace for some reason and were captured here as prey.

Perhaps they had been sealed in the wall for too long. Many people suddenly bent their legs and broke them directly when they jumped out of the wall, falling to the ground and smashing to pieces.

The shadowy monster hid behind these people, like the actual manipulator of these people. Strangely, it originally had six legs, but now it only had five, one leg was missing.

Fatty led Rouyi and Han Yu, running wildly in the direction I indicated.

At first, after hearing the crackling sound of the wall breaking behind him, he looked back and saw a dense mass of people jumping out of the wall and rushing towards the room they had just left. The scene was extremely creepy.

After the three of them passed through several rooms, they stopped, panting heavily, seeing that nothing was chasing after them. Anyone would be exhausted from running like that.

"Fatty... do you think... it's okay... for us to leave... Master... like that?" Rouyi asked, out of breath and worried. "Should we... go back... and help him?"

After Fatty regained his breath, he said to Rouyi without hesitation, "Miss Yang, you and Little Yu shouldn't make trouble. I'll go back and take a look. Maybe I can help him."

In fact, Fatty had also planned to go back to help. Abandoning friends was not something Fatty could do. He ran away from Master purely for the safety of Rouyi and Han Yu.

Now that the two of them were safe, Fatty drew his military knife and walked back. Before leaving, he turned around and told the two of them, "Keep your resting heart rate at eighty beats per minute. Feel your pulse and count about two thousand beats. If Fatty hasn't returned by then, continue to walk according to the path Master pointed out."

After saying that, Fatty plunged into the dim hole.

Fatty held the knife in his backhand, guarding it in front of his chest, probing forward with one hand, and quickly rushed to the room where everyone had just fled. He did not encounter any obstacles along the way.

When Fatty walked to the room connected to the room where Master was just now, what came into view was a pile of wall fragments and people lying on the ground making strange noises like "咿呀" and "呜啊". Some of these people had broken legs, revealing the broken bones; some had their lower bodies cut off at the waist, but their upper bodies crawled with their hands; some had a hole in their heads, twitching on the ground like a worm.

Even so, these people who had suffered such serious injuries still struggled to crawl to the next room, ignoring Fatty's existence.

When Fatty was a soldier, a soldier in his class broke his calf during training, an open fracture. At that time, the pain almost made him faint, and the bloody, pale bone stub left a deep impression on Fatty.

But the people here, even though their bodies were broken into two pieces, were still fighting tenaciously. Obviously, these were no longer normal people, or rather, they were no longer "people," but the living dead.

Fatty felt like he was sitting on pins and needles, trying to overcome the psychological pressure.

"Damn it, I'd rather die with this bunch of monsters." Fatty spat on the ground and groped into the next room.

Fatty walked into the room with trepidation and found that the battle here had already ended. Corpses and broken limbs of the living dead were piled on top of each other, layer upon layer. The living dead were half-dead, some with less than half of their bodies left, and their heads were about to fall off, yet they were still squeaking and yelling, making people feel strange and terrible.

Fatty did not find Master in the pile of people on the ground, which relieved him slightly.

Fatty followed the corpses of the living dead forward, passing through several rooms. Apart from a pile of half-dead living dead, he did not see any trace of Master. The shadowy monster was also missing along with Master.

Although Fatty was wondering why Master had suddenly become so strange, not only did he know some of the paths in the underground palace, but he could also defeat so many living dead at once.

If Fatty were to fight the living dead, he would be torn to pieces by these living dead in less than a minute.

Fatty thought to himself, Master has his own wonderful plan, so he returned the way he came and reunited with Rouyi and Han Yu.

When Fatty crawled out of the hole, he heard Han Yu counting to 1767.

"Didn't find Master," Fatty said regretfully. "However, judging from the battle, Master defeated all the living dead in the wall."

Fatty told the two of them what he had just seen with his own eyes. The two of them showed disbelief in their expressions about Fatty's description, especially Rouyi.

But none of this mattered anymore. Since Master was safe, everyone could continue to find a way out.

At this moment, Han Yu suddenly said, "Did you feel it? There's wind!"

Fatty and Rouyi held their breath and felt it. Sure enough, there was wind!

A slight breeze blew from the dark hole in front of them.

That's right, the path Master pointed out was correct.

Fatty said excitedly, "Damn it, I knew Master definitely knew the way out."

So, without hesitation or delay, the few of them decisively walked into the deep hole.

The three of them searched for the exit in the direction the wind was blowing. During this period, they passed through spaces similar to the temples, farmlands, barracks, and functional areas they had seen before.

Fatty muttered silently, "How many of these structures are there in the underground palace?"

Rouyi explained, "In the earthquake-prone Himalayan mountain range, taking the previous tribes as units and the temples representing the God Kingdom as the center, this kind of structure is built in different mountains and different parts of the mountains—

First, there are the temples representing theocracy, and then the farmlands, barracks, and functional areas for survival and reproduction. This design greatly enhances the underground palace's ability to resist natural disasters.

When an earthquake occurs, it will only destroy part of the underground palace, so that the God Kingdom will not be destroyed.

This design is ingenious. Theoretically, as long as this ecosystem is not destroyed, the God Kingdom can continue to exist..."
