Chapter 407 Happy New Year
After settling Ye Qiu and closing the door, Ye Xiu glanced at Chen Guo, who was still standing outside, and suddenly said, "Shouldn't we leave someone downstairs? Isn't it a bit bad if we all go up?"
"Oh, right!" Chen Guo thought about it and quickly ran downstairs.
Ye Xiu quickly returned to the first floor as well, seeing Chen Guo safely guarding the front desk. Clearly, even a few minutes wouldn't be enough for something tragic to happen so quickly.
The dishes on the table had already been cleared away, but Ye Qiu was still lying on the table, which hadn't been cleaned. The nearly untouched bottle of wine was also still on the table. Ye Xiu picked up the bottle and waved it at Chen Guo. "Where does the wine go?"
"Bring it over here!" Chen Guo reached out her hand.
Ye Xiu walked over and handed it to her, but Chen Guo called out again, "And the cups."
"Hmm? You want another drink?" Ye Xiu asked.
"Nothing else to do! Do you want to try some more too? See if you're as weak as your brother." Chen Guo asked.
"I know without trying." Ye Xiu said, picking up the wine and getting two glasses.
"Seeing as it's the holidays, I don't mind having a little drink with you." Ye Xiu said.
"Yeah, yeah, as long as you don't drink too much, it won't affect the steadiness of your hand." Chen Guo said.
Ye Xiu quickly poured two glasses of wine, handing one to Chen Guo. Chen Guo took it, swirling it around in her hand, as if playing with a toy.
"Having a brother is nice," Chen Guo suddenly said sentimentally, "Even if you often argue, it seems pretty happy."
"Yeah." Ye Xiu responded quietly. He knew that Chen Guo wasn't lecturing him about anything, but probably just expressing some feelings about her own life. In the two months at Happy Internet Cafe, Ye Xiu knew bits and pieces of Chen Guo's situation, even though he hadn't heard it directly from her. Chen Guo, who had lived alone for many years, yearned for this kind of family affection deep down.
But sadly, this kind of family affection was irreplaceable, so Ye Xiu didn't know what to say to comfort her, and just listened silently. As Chen Guo drank, he took a sip as well.
The few customers that were in the internet cafe finally left. Not a single one was staying for an all-nighter that day. After seeing off the last customer, Chen Guo stood outside the internet cafe for a long time, exhaled a long stream of white air, turned around, went inside, and locked the door behind her.
"I'm not opening tonight," she said, turning off most of the lights, leaving only a small patch lit, illuminating the seats they usually used.
Ye Xiu stood up from behind the front desk, his body seeming to sway slightly. He glanced at the usual computers, and stretched. "I'm a little tired after a busy day. I think I'll go rest early."
As he spoke, he was already heading upstairs.
Chen Guo was stunned, glancing at the front desk, and noticing the empty wine glass where Ye Xiu had just been standing. She suddenly understood.
"So, he's just as weak as his brother…" Chen Guo chuckled to herself. This Ye Xiu seemed to be tipsy too! He just had better self-control and didn't get completely drunk without realizing it like his brother.
In the end, Chen Guo drank the most that night, but was still in the best shape. It wasn't too early, and seeing Ye Xiu leave, Chen Guo turned off all the lights and went up to the second floor.
"Are you sleeping on my side?" Ye Xiu had just entered the room when Chen Guo came up.
"No need, I'll sleep here." Ye Xiu was much better than Ye Qiu, at least he didn't point at the coffee table when gesturing to the sofa.
"Go ahead, I'll go to Little Tang's room." Chen Guo said.
"I'll drop a lot of ashes on your bed!" Ye Xiu said.
"Try dropping some!" Chen Guo glared.
"That's why I'll sleep here." Ye Xiu said, already lying down on the sofa. "You can lend me something to cover myself with."
"Wait." Helpless, Chen Guo went into the room, got something, and threw it to Ye Xiu.
"See you tomorrow." Ye Xiu covered himself and said goodbye to Chen Guo.
"See you tomorrow…" Chen Guo didn't say anything more and went back to her room to rest. Although she wasn't drunk, the alcohol still had some effect. Chen Guo slept very soundly that night, and when she opened her eyes, it was already bright.
She got out of bed and looked outside. It was a sunny day in the cold winter, a really nice day.
Chen Guo got dressed and gently opened the door. There was no one on the sofa, but the door to the small storage room was still tightly closed.
"Got up and went to play games?" Chen Guo muttered. She washed up and went downstairs, seeing the dining table had been set up, with some things piled on it. Someone was sitting at the table, drinking milk with a straw.
"Good morning!" The person waved as soon as they saw Chen Guo.
"Oh? You're awake…" Chen Guo recognized that it was Ye Qiu. The way to tell them apart was simple: Ye Xiu and Ye Qiu wore different clothes.
"Yeah, yeah, that guy is still sleeping, I threw him in there. I went out for a walk and bought some stuff. I don't know if you guys eat this kind of thing for breakfast?" Ye Qiu said.
"Oh, we usually buy food from the stalls around here, but they're probably closed during the holidays," Chen Guo said as she walked over. Looking at the food and drinks on the table, it was clear that they had been bought at the supermarket.
"Is that so? Then eat whatever you want!" Ye Qiu said.
"Okay." Chen Guo nodded. Ye Qiu finished his milk and then slipped over to the computer that Ye Xiu usually used for gaming.
"That guy usually just plays games here all day?" Ye Qiu asked.
"He plays games every day. But he doesn't necessarily sit in that seat all the time," Chen Guo said.
"How can anyone tolerate a guy who plays games all day?" Ye Qiu shook his head repeatedly.
"You don't play Glory?" Chen Guo asked.
"I don't." Ye Qiu shook his head.
"Is it because you really don't like playing, or is it because he plays, so you don't play?" Chen Guo asked with a smile.
"I'm really not interested," Ye Qiu said, sitting down in that seat. He gestured to Chen Guo before turning on the computer. "Is it okay?"
"You have to turn on the server first." Chen Guo said, going to the front desk to turn on the server computer. "Now you can."
"Okay, thanks." Ye Qiu responded.
Chen Guo saw that Ye Qiu quickly put on his headphones and was about to go over and see what this non-gamer Ye Qiu was doing when she suddenly heard someone knocking on the roller shutter door outside the internet cafe. Although Ye Qiu had gone out in the morning, he had closed all the doors as they were before.
"Are there still customers today?" Chen Guo wondered, pulling open the inner door. She pressed the switch for the roller shutter door, and the door "whooshed" upwards.
"Happy New Year!!"
Chen Guo heard someone shout excitedly outside the door. At the same time, there was a "bang" and confetti and streamers flew everywhere, exploding all over her face. Clearly, someone had set off a party popper at her from outside the door.
Chen Guo was startled by this, but no matter what, it was a holiday greeting, so she couldn't get angry. Especially when she saw who was standing outside the door, Chen Guo even felt flattered.
Standing outside the door was none other than Su Mu Cheng.
"Ah, oh!! I'm so sorry!!!" Su Mu Cheng saw that the person she had hit with the party popper was Chen Guo, and was immediately very embarrassed. Seeing Chen Guo covered in confetti and streamers from head to toe, she quickly reached out to help her remove them.
"It's okay, it's okay, it's okay!!" Chen Guo was too happy that her idol had arrived, and didn't care about any of this.
"Come in, come in, come in quickly." Chen Guo said quickly.
"I'm sorry! I thought Ye Xiu would be here all night, and he would be the one opening the door at this time." Su Mu Cheng was still explaining.
"It's okay, it's okay." Chen Guo said quickly, feeling incredibly flattered that her idol kept apologizing to her. She wanted nothing more than to show Su Mu Cheng that she really didn't mind at all.
"You… just find a place to sit!" Faced with her idol, Chen Guo, who was usually fearless, was flustered and didn't know how to greet her. Should she get fruit first? Or candy? Or something to drink? Should she give her a red envelope???
Chen Guo's brain was racing, and she didn't hear Su Mu Cheng ask her, "Where's Ye Xiu?" When she turned around again, she saw that Su Mu Cheng had tiptoed behind Ye Qiu and mysteriously pulled something out of her pocket, holding another party popper. Seeing Chen Guo looking over, she put her index finger to her lips and made a "shh" gesture.
"Hey, that…" Chen Guo only managed to say three words when she heard Su Mu Cheng shout "Happy New Year" again. At the same time, there was a "bang" and the confetti and streamers covered Ye Qiu from the side.
"What is this!" Ye Qiu exclaimed in surprise, jumping up.
Their eyes met through the confetti.
"Oh, you're not Ye Xiu, you're Ye Qiu?" Su Mu Cheng said.
"Who are you?" Ye Qiu asked.
Chen Guo was surprised. Ye Qiu didn't recognize Su Mu Cheng, but Su Mu Cheng could immediately tell that Ye Qiu wasn't Ye Xiu. She and Ye Xiu were really very familiar.
"I'm Su Mu Cheng," Su Mu Cheng said.
"Su Mu Cheng?"
"You don't recognize me?" Su Mu Cheng said. But this time, she didn't rush to apologize for hitting the wrong person. Instead, she held up the empty party popper in her hand, looking very annoyed. "I messed up again, and there aren't any more…"
"There aren't any more what?" Ye Qiu asked curiously.
Su Mu Cheng held up the party popper.
"You didn't buy any more?" Ye Qiu said.
"I made this myself." Su Mu Cheng said.
"I was wondering! I've never seen a party popper filled so full." Ye Qiu said. He and Chen Guo were covered from head to toe, and it wasn't over yet. The confetti that had been shot out hadn't all fallen yet, and was still flying in the air!
