Chapter 1829: Chapter 1856: I’m a Good Person
Immortal Hu twitched her mouth, finally understanding why Li Xiaobai wanted to bring her along.
This group of mysterious cultivators of unknown origin had their sights set on these Great Clan disciples from the start. They thought they were locals, yet unknowingly, they were regarded as prey by others.
These few must not be brought into the influence of the Hehuan Sect, or once the organization pursues to the Boundary Sea, it will bring unforeseen disaster to the sect.
“Just like the starry sky is as deep as the sea, the waters here run deep. It’s commonplace to be chased by strong individuals; no wonder it’s said that cultivators in the starry sky are powerful, indeed much faster than the sluggish cultivation rhythm of the Immortal Gods Realm.”
Ma Niubi sighed, he hadn’t done much; the difference in levels was too great, the mere act of racking his brains for self-preservation had made him grow significantly.
Liaowang agreed: “The survival of the fittest in nature, those who manage to survive are no simple characters.”
Yu Huan Shui waved his hand: “There are more experts in the Boundary Sea; Yue Xing is just a remote Barbaric Land, not even on the stage.”
Li Xiaobai rubbed his chin thoughtfully: “In that case, once we’re at the Boundary Sea, we’ll need to be ready for constant battle.”
The brief few days of journeying through Yue Xing had made them rate the starry sky exceedingly high; in their view, the star river was riddled with danger, one wrong step and it was an abyss.
Always keeping a high degree of vigilance to avoid becoming prey.
Immortal Hu silently listened to their conversation, inwardly unable to express herself, thinking they were overthinking; in a mere few days at Yue Xing, they had survived three interception attempts by organization regulators and Law Enforcers without a scratch, an experience that few could claim even across the Boundary Sea.
Even she, a genius of a top power, had never encountered such a thrilling battlefield.
The notion of the starry sky being dangerous clearly stemmed from their unique encounters.
She was also increasingly curious about the origins of these four; on the surface, Li Xiaobai seemed unknowledgeable, essentially a local who couldn’t even use a Visualized Item, yet capable of battling Law Enforcers, which was simply astounding.
But she couldn’t shake the feeling that the middle-aged man among the four named Mr. Yu seemed familiar, as though she’d met him somewhere before.
However, she quickly dismissed the notion, assuming she’d seen someone with a similar appearance since people hanging around with folks like Li Xiaobai couldn’t possibly be famous strong individuals from the starry sky.
“Immortal Hu, when are we heading back to the sect?”
Four pairs of eyes simultaneously fixed on her.
Immortal Hu felt unnerved from their gaze: “I was ordered to reclaim the remaining treasures of the Buddhist Lord, there is still…”
“What treasures? Didn’t that yellow-haired guy already survey with the Compass? Such a plain couldn’t possibly conceal treasures, and I’ve checked, there’s no tomb underground, treasures aren’t here.”
Yu Huan Shui dismissed the notion of treasures left by the Buddhist Lord.
Yue Xing indeed was the domain of the Buddhist Lord, but the treasures weren’t here, and top-tier strong individuals’ treasure vaults weren’t easily found.
Immortal Hu frowned: “But…”
“But what? Isn’t it obvious? The Buddhist Lord has barely been dead for a few days, yet everyone knows the news. It’s clearly someone deliberately spreading the news to lure cultivators to Yue Xing for an ambush. This is a setup, but I won’t say who’s behind it.”
Ma Niubi shattered Immortal Hu’s fantasy, this was an operation he was very familiar with, having done it countless times alongside Ergouzi and Ji Wuqing in the past.
Immortal Hu widened her eyes, finding it hard to believe this analysis; sect elders had always said the treasures were here, and their fellow disciples traveled far, how could it possibly be a setup?
Moreover, if it really was a setup, the ones being trapped would be the geniuses from various top powers…
Thinking of this, she suddenly paused, recalling that at Yue Xing, there was indiscriminate attack, killing left and right, isn’t there a cultivator that fits these elements?
The Law Enforcer sent by that mysterious organization!
Seeing the meaningful expressions in Li Xiaobai and the others’ eyes, she felt a chill in her spine; this brief day had left her shocked countless times, if she hadn’t decisively chosen to follow Li Xiaobai, she might have ended up like the characters in the story, getting eliminated.
“Looking at your clear little eyes, you should understand what’s happening.”
“We consecutively eliminated two regulators, letting Jiang Que learn our location, then he spread this news to keep us on Yue Xing.”
“To be upfront, Buddhist sect monks are very difficult to kill; as long as there’s abundant Power of Faith, they can reshape Divine Soul and body using the golden statues of regular houses, living a second life. In other words, the Buddhist Lord indeed was killed, but not necessarily dead.”
Li Xiaobai said calmly, he once recovered anew by harnessing Power of Faith from a statue in the Central Origin Realm, only to rally and ascend to the Immortal Gods Realm to seek retribution from those Immortal Gods of the past.
Unfortunately, upon ascending to the Upper Realm, he only obtained news of pureblood and mixed-blood, with nothing regarding the Spider Lady who shattered his heart back then.
“Who exactly are you, how do you know these secrets?”
Immortal Hu felt herself growing numb; the profound usage of Power of Faith, resurrection—such things even the sect’s higher-ups hadn’t completely grasped, yet they were casually mentioned by a local-seeming guy as if it was mundane.
However, Li Xiaobai’s words reminded her, what kind of being is the Buddhist Lord, creator of Buddhist sect faith for all living things in the world, that’s the Buddhist Lord.
How could he be killed; simply put, even if someone dared to try, how could they kill such a godlike existence?
As a disciple, she hadn’t considered deeply, but how could those old foxes in the sect not think of this layer? The deeper she thought, the more terrifying it seemed.
There is a taste of conspiracy!
“Just an ordinary person hoping to catch a ride.”
“Though I, Li Xiaobai, newly arriving in the starry sky tore off an old man’s foot, killed a Buddhist sect preacher, manipulated a hundred-year-old man as village chief, and took half the life of a guy writing stories, I’m a good person.”
Li Xiaobai spoke sincerely.
What he said was true, just that the truth sounded a bit creepy.
“I understand, but let’s be upfront, when we enter the Boundary Sea, everyone goes their separate ways, don’t cause trouble within the influence of the Hehuan Sect.”
Immortal Hu took a deep breath and said slowly.
“Rest assured, Immortal, out in the world we follow the code of righteousness!”
Li Xiaobai patted his chest in assurance.
Immortal Hu flipped her wrist, producing a Rainbow Colored Mini Altar, which grew in the wind, settling on the ground.
Then she took out a Crystal Ball and placed it in the altar’s center, a beam of light shot into the sky, observing the amazed expressions of Li Xiaobai and the others, her belief that they were bumpkins was further confirmed; it was likely their first time seeing an altar, maybe even their first time being teleported to other stars.
Calmly, she took out a talisman and activated it in front of the four.
Yu Huan Shui swiftly grabbed Immortal Hu’s hand, extinguishing the burning talisman.
“Teleportation doesn’t require a talisman; Immortal, using this talisman was an attempt to contact someone, correct?”
“Hehe, Mr. Yu, with sharp eyes, I was intending to inform the fellow disciples stationed beside the teleportation altar on the other end, to send them away to avoid being discovered by you all…”
Immortal Hu was startled inside, how could a supposed local be so familiar with teleportation procedures?
A smile appeared on Yu Huan Shui’s face: “There’s no need for such labor, pulling us into the Boundary Sea would be immensely appreciated.”
“Uh… very well…”
