Just as he was getting into it, his phone rang.
Seeing Wu Xin’s name on the display, Song Yun answered, “What’s up?
Decided to call me at this hour?”
“Song…
Song Yun, can you come over here?” Wu Xin’s voice was nearly drowned out by the cacophony in the background, and it sounded like someone was yelling.
“What happened?” Song Yun frowned as he asked.
“There’s trouble at the shop; could you come over?”
“Just wait for me there; I’ll be there in five minutes,” Song Yun said as he stood up.
“Have your staff hold the fort and make sure you don’t get hurt.
Everything will be easier to handle once I arrive.”
“Okay, hurry up.”
After hanging up, Song Yun dashed to the parking lot, drove to the hot pot restaurant, and upon arrival, he saw a crowd gathered at the entrance, with a riot of noises coming from inside.
Without giving it much thought, Song Yun walked straight in.
Once inside, he saw two women viciously gripping Wu Xin’s arms, and a man was holding her shoulders from behind, keeping her from moving.
“Get lost.” With brisk steps, Song Yun approached them and slapped the two women away from Wu Xin’s arms, then kicked the man in the stomach who was holding her shoulders.
“Who the hell do you think you are?” the man who had been kicked cursed as he struggled to stand up, clutching his stomach.
“Are you hurt anywhere?” Song Yun asked Wu Xin in a soft voice, ignoring the man.
“No, I’m not hurt; thankfully you arrived just in time, or they might have succeeded,” Wu Xin said as her voice wavered, on the verge of tears.
Seeing Wu Xin like this, Song Yun reassured her, “It’s alright now, I’m here, and I’ll handle everything.
Don’t you trust me?”
“It’s not that, I just feel so wronged,” Wu Xin whispered.
“Those people are from my ex-husband’s family.
They’re trying to force me to transfer all my assets to them!
If I don’t agree, they plan to take them by force.”
“That’s ridiculous; it’s as simple as this—the shop was originally my brother’s property, and we just let you keep it for a while.
Now we want it back,” a woman retorted sarcastically.
“Guess the guy with you is your new boy toy, huh?
Shameless.”
“Don’t talk nonsense.
The restaurant had a lot of debt, and you all discarded it.
I managed to pay off the debts over the years and established the hot pot restaurant as it is today.
Not only that, but every year I’ve given a lot of money to your parents.
I can’t believe you still want to take over my hot pot restaurant.
You have no chance,” Wu Xin retorted.
“Whatever, it’s my brother’s property, and that’s unquestionable.
If you refuse to return it, watch out—I might sue you,” the woman threatened.
“You’ve made enough money over the years.
Better pack up your boy toy and leave; this hot pot restaurant is not for someone like you.”
“Go ahead and sue.
The original contract clearly states that you unconditionally handed the hot pot restaurant to me, and in doing so, I also had to take over its debts, which I still have proof of.
You’re not welcome here,” Wu Xin shouted back angrily.
“And don’t expect to get any more money from me.
If you try any forceful tactics again, I’ll call the police.”
While they were talking, a derisive look on the woman’s face appeared.
“Wu Xin, you slut, hanging off this man here.
You’re so shameless; relying on a man now means you’ll have to depend on him in bed too.”
“Enough, if a dog bites you, are you going to bite back?” Song Yun patted Wu Xin’s shoulder, trying to calm her.
“Leave this to me.
I assure you, the shop will stay yours.”
“Okay,” Wu Xin nodded.
Song Yun let go of Wu Xin and approached the mocking woman.
The woman looked disdainfully at Song Yun and sneered, “Look at this pretty boy; are you after our family’s wealth?
I’m telling you, you won’t get a dime from us.
Even dead, Wu Xin belongs to our family; being screwed by a dog at home is still better than getting screwed by a gigolo out there.”
Song Yun narrowed his eyes and waved his hand at a waiter, instructing, “Close the door and escort the customers out.”
Since Song Yun frequented the restaurant, the waiters knew him and, upon Wu Xin’s approval, followed his instructions.
Song Yun then pulled out a silver dagger from his waistband and held it against the woman’s face, “Are we done causing scenes?
Talk nonsense again, and you’ll be disfigured today.”
Startled, the woman wanted to say something, but the blade pressing against her face made her reconsider the consequences of her words.
“What are you doing!
We can talk this through; why pull a knife?
This is a crime!” the man yelled from the sidelines.
“I’ll only say this once,” Song Yun spoke indifferently.
“Go back to wherever you came from and never bother Wu Xin again.
Every time you come, I’ll be here to meet you, until you’re too scared to return.
If you try anything sly behind our backs, you’ll never live peacefully.”
“Who is this man, Wu Xin?”
“He’s a relative of theirs,” Wu Xin explained.
“Good, I’ve got your face memorized.
Make sure you keep an eye on this woman and prevent her from doing something foolish, or else, the consequences will be beyond your ability to handle.”
“You know, I really wanted to teach you a lesson today, but the restaurant still needs to operate.
So, I’m letting you off this time.
Just remember, don’t do anything stupid.”
Though Song Yun maintained a smile while talking, the three of them felt a chill that couldn’t be ignored.
Then, without a word, they opened the door and slipped out.
