Chapter 29 The Talking Cat

Chen Luo instructed Ma Yu before leaving the house.

"No matter who it is, no matter what excuse they use, you are not allowed to open the door. Even if someone is dying right in front of you, you can't."

"Keep the doors and windows closed, don't stick your head out the window, and definitely don't go outside. You will be responsible for the consequences."

After the incident at the hotel cold storage, Ma Yu was also scared and nodded solemnly.

Chen Luo and Su Dazhu, the Dharma King, were going out to collect crystals, so Ma Yu had to stay home alone.

It was impossible to take her along; she would just be a burden. She just needed to take care of the logistics.

It was even more impossible to leave someone to protect her; the Dharma King was out of the question.

The Dharma King was a very capable assistant. If they encountered danger, the Dharma King might be able to turn the tide.

Chen Luo gave Ma Yu two electric batons for self-defense. That was enough.

Leaving the residential area and arriving at the place where he had parked the heavy truck, Chen Luo's face darkened.

The window on the right side of the heavy truck's cab had been smashed by someone.

It was smashed thoroughly, so someone must have entered the truck.

They probably wanted to see if there were any supplies inside.

Were they blind? They could see from outside the window that there were no supplies!

The truck's cargo container had also been opened, and they hadn't even bothered to close it after leaving.

Chen Luo hadn't left the house for three days, so it wasn't surprising that someone had targeted the heavy truck.

Chen Luo felt sorry for the Dharma King and hadn't asked him to watch the truck; it wasn't worth it.

Two zombies pounced over.

Chen Luo kicked them away, sending them flying.

"Damn it, how did you watch the truck? What use are you?"

Zombies: ???

Chen Luo grumbled as he got into the heavy truck. Just let me find out which little rascal did this.

Chen Luo checked, and fortunately, everything was normal except for the window.

Chen Luo drove the truck to a nearby street with fewer people. He would use the truck to ram the zombies whenever possible, and if not, he and Su Dazhu would get out and kill them.

In just over an hour, Chen Luo collected more than three hundred crystals.

While killing zombies, Chen Luo deliberately moved closer to the residential area where Mi Ling and Mi Li lived.

After collecting more than five hundred crystals, Su Dazhu was panting for breath. After resting for a while, Chen Luo entered Mi Li's residential area.

It was a little after six in the evening, and the sky was getting dark.

Before the apocalypse, Chen Luo had specifically asked people to investigate Mi Ling and Mi Li's information. He not only knew their general preferences but also their exact address.

This residential area had a total of 16 buildings, each nine stories high, with a permanent population of about three thousand.

During the apocalypse, it would be good if there were a thousand people still in the residential area.

Entering the residential area, Chen Luo observed that there were only three supermarkets in the area, and they were all small supermarkets of thirty to fifty square meters.

These kinds of supermarkets basically didn't have many supplies.

Chen Luo looked around and was surprised to find that all three supermarkets were empty.

This was normal. Many times, hunger was more terrifying than zombies, and there were always daring people who would come to look for supplies.

Chen Luo chuckled. This was even better. If Mi Ling and Mi Li were at home and didn't have any food, let's see how they would cope.

Killing zombies as he walked, Chen Luo arrived at Building Eight, looking towards Unit 3, 201.

This was Mi Ling and Mi Li's home.

No lights were on. No one in the residential area had any lights on because there was a power outage.

The curtains of 201 were all drawn.

Chen Luo narrowed his eyes. Under normal circumstances, few people would completely close the curtains unless they were resting.

When leaving home, people wouldn't close all the curtains.

During the apocalypse, as long as people were at home, anyone who wasn't an idiot would close the curtains to protect themselves.

Of course, he couldn't rely solely on this to determine whether Mi Ling and Mi Li were at home.

There were two ways to go upstairs: one was the elevator, which was immediately ruled out, and the second was the stairs.

Chen Luo said in a low voice, "Dharma King, go and sniff around to see if anyone is home."

The Dharma King nodded. This was what a dog should do.

The Dharma King was about to go upstairs when his only remaining right ear twitched. Then, he lowered his body and growled in his throat.

Like a rabbit, the Dharma King instantly darted towards a bush on the side.

"Meow."

A meow filled with obvious terror rang out. Then, a white figure appeared in the bush, fleeing rapidly.

The Dharma King had discovered this cat hiding in the bush and chased after it. The cat ran away in terror.

But clearly, even though cats were more agile than dogs, the Dharma King caught up with the cat in just five seconds.

Chen Luo was stunned. A cat?

Clearly, this was a cat that hadn't turned into a zombie.

Chen Luo quickly said, "Dharma King, don't hurt it."

Having a cat would be nice; he could take it back as a pet.

Cats and dogs could also turn into zombies, but they wouldn't become very strong; they would be weaker than zombies, unless they were mutants, but the probability of that was too small.

Before the apocalypse, Chen Luo had wanted to buy a cat for companionship, but he didn't know if it would turn into a zombie after he bought it. What if it bit him? So, he gave up on the idea.

Chen Luo thought, if you're good-looking, I'll take you back.

If you're not good-looking, heh.

The Dharma King held the cat by the scruff of its neck and trotted over, looking pleased with himself.

Chen Luo looked at the cat, pleasantly surprised.

Upon closer inspection, it was a silver shaded cat, about twenty centimeters long, with sky-blue eyes.

Its fur was soft and smooth, without any stray hairs.

Its overall appearance was very high, like a fairy among cats.

Of course, it might also be a male.

The cat struggled in the Dharma King's mouth, but clearly, it couldn't break free.

Chen Luo was about to touch its fluffy little head when he suddenly heard a voice.

"Wuwuwu, quickly tell this stupid dog to let me go."

Chen Luo's pupils shrank as he looked at the cat in shock.

The voice wasn't coming from his ears but appearing in his mind.

Chen Luo was no stranger to this ability. Powerful psychic ability users could master it. Without speaking, they could communicate with others through mental power.

The Dharma King was a dog that could master lightning abilities, so why couldn't other cats and dogs master psychic abilities?

The silver shaded cat in front of him clearly mastered the ability of telepathy, and it was very smart, knowing that Chen Luo was in charge, so it begged Chen Luo to have the Dharma King let it go.

Chen Luo's eyes lit up. An unintentional act, an unexpected gain!

Come with me, and you'll have plenty of fish and meat every day.

Chen Luo scolded, "Dharma King, how can you be so rude? Let go of it."

He said that, but Chen Luo grabbed the cat's body, afraid it would run away.

The Dharma King wasn't feeling good. Fine, it's all my fault.

The cat didn't struggle when it was in Chen Luo's hands, staring at Chen Luo with its big sky-blue eyes. At the same time, a voice sounded in Chen Luo's mind.

"I didn't provoke it, and I didn't offend it. Why did this dog bite me for no reason? It's so annoying."

Chen Luo echoed, "Yes, yes, too annoying."

Su Dazhu scratched his head, looking strangely at Chen Luo. Why did it seem like his boss was talking to a cat?

The cat used its ability again, seeming to sense something.

"Do you have catnip? I think you do."
