Chapter 1110 Shipping Out
It was past ten o'clock at night when Jiang Zheng left, and Lu Guangwei took a few men and drove out of the city to a small port town on the outskirts of Dragon City.
The vehicles twisted and turned, driving into a secluded courtyard.
Inside, a Black man in his thirties was sitting at a large round table, eating.
The table was laden with all kinds of seafood: lobster, abalone, sea snails, everything imaginable.
The Black man ate with exaggerated gusto, thoroughly enjoying himself. Behind him stood seven or eight Black subordinates, each with a bulging waistline, carrying weapons.
After getting out of the car, Lu Guangwei led his men into the courtyard. He saw the Black man and said with a smile, "Brother, sorry to keep you waiting."
The Black man didn't say a word, but pointed to the chair in front of him.
Lu Guangwei sat down, and without any pretense, reached out, grabbed a sweet shrimp, tore off its head, and stuffed it into his mouth.
"The goods?" The Black man asked Lu Guangwei in stiff Chinese.
"Already on the way," Lu Guangwei said with a smile. "Don't worry, no one in Dragon City is more reliable than me in this business. As long as you can take my line, we can do business often."
"Crack!"
The Black man snapped open a king crab's claw, pulled out the meat and stuffed it into his mouth, while saying, "I have a big appetite."
Lu Guangwei grinned. "I guarantee you'll be full tonight."
…
Just as the two were talking, two trucks with the logistics company logo, the same ones Jiang Zheng had seen earlier, drove out of the logistics warehouse.
Five black SUVs escorted them, heading towards the outer districts.
Lu Guangwei's most trusted henchman sat in the leading SUV, personally guarding the shipment.
"Chao-ge, after this is over, let's find a woman and have some fun, huh?" A younger thug sitting next to him asked with a grin.
"Fuck!" Chao-ge responded politely, asking, "Is your mom on vacation recently? If not, we can go find her later, eh?"
"Bro, my mom's shop closed down last year. Now it's all about the administrative side, Su Tianyu's brothers are calling the shots, not leaving anyone else a way to make a living," the thug replied with a sigh.
The men sat in the car, smoking, and said nothing more.
After another half hour or so, the convoy gradually approached the edge of the city. But the traffic here was backed up in a long line, slowing Chao-ge and his crew down.
"Chao-ge, checkpoint ahead," the driver said in a low voice.
"Let me see." Chao-ge rolled down the window and glanced out.
Ahead in the traffic, more than a dozen police cars were blocking the road, leaving only one lane open. Many officers were standing on both sides of the street, inspecting the passing vehicles one by one.
Three large trucks were parked on the side of the road, seemingly vehicles in violation of regulations, and had been impounded. Several drivers, handcuffed, were sitting inside the police cars. Another driver looked flustered, constantly explaining something to the officers.
The thugs in the car immediately became nervous, each of their foreheads breaking out in cold sweat.
Chao-ge frowned, carefully observing for a moment, and asked the driver, "Look at that guy, isn't that Lao San?"
The driver had good eyesight and watched for a while. There was indeed someone in the patrol team ahead who looked familiar.
"Yeah, it's him," the driver nodded.
Chao-ge's heart returned to his stomach, and he smiled, reassuring his men, "Don't panic, everyone. It's fine."
The men nodded, but the sweat on their foreheads still betrayed their inner anxiety.
The convoy followed the traffic, slowly inching forward. When it was their turn, Chao-ge immediately pushed open the door and got out of the car, quickly walking towards the officer Lao San, saying, "Hey, San-ge, still on duty so late. It's tough!"
Lao San glanced at Chao-ge and pointed to the two logistics trucks parked in front and behind. "Your vehicles?"
"The company's," Chao-ge said with a smile, taking out a cigarette.
"What are you delivering?" Lao San reached out to push away the cigarette, while raising his foot to walk towards the truck.
"Seafood!" Chao-ge hurriedly followed, smiling obsequiously. "All crabs, live ones. Why the sudden checkpoint today?"
"The city's holding a meeting, didn't you know?" Lao San replied, as he reached out and opened the truck's cargo door. Seeing the rows of cargo boxes inside, he raised his foot to climb up.
Chao-ge looked down at Lao San's leather shoes and advised, "Look, you have such shiny leather shoes. Why climb into the truck? It's full of dust."
"Didn't I say, we're at a checkpoint," Lao San had already climbed into the cargo box and was about to reach out and open one of the boxes.
Chao-ge's heart rose to his throat, and he hurriedly said, "Hey, don't you trust me?"
Lao San turned his head, glanced at Chao-ge, and said with a light laugh, "It's precisely because it's you that I don't trust you."
Just as the two were talking, a black SUV slowly moved forward, using its body to block the lens of the law enforcement recorder.
Chao-ge reached out, took a black travel bag from the car, placed it directly in the truck's cargo compartment, and whispered to Lao San, "I'm so old, how could I not understand the rules? If you don't trust me, then do you trust this?"
"Whoosh!"
Chao-ge opened the travel bag, which was filled with cash.
The two looked at each other and said nothing more.
Five minutes later, the convoy was released and drove towards the outer districts.
…
At the same time, at the Dragon City Garrison Headquarters.
After the meeting, Tan Hengqiang invited An Zecheng to the garrison's private dining hall for a meal and a chat.
The clean table was covered with a white tablecloth, on which were placed several exquisite private dishes.
Tan Hengqiang quietly ate his food, without saying a word.
An Zecheng put down his chopsticks and took the lead in asking, "Lao Tan, I heard that your military spending has been cut? This tight hoop, is it uncomfortable to wear?"
Tan Hengqiang waved his hand and said calmly, "It's nothing major. District One just wants me to take a stand. If I state now that I want to contain Lao Li in Dragon City, not only will this tight hoop disappear, but it will also increase my military spending by thirty percent."
An Zecheng looked at Tan Hengqiang and said, "This is a plan to drive away the tiger to devour the wolf! When the time comes, the wolf may die, and the tiger will definitely not have a good end either."
Tan Hengqiang laughed when he heard this, "Oh, I've been in meetings all day today, for four or five hours. I'm tired. Let's not talk about work matters."
An Zecheng followed with a laugh, "Alright, what do you want to talk about then?"
Tan Hengqiang looked at An Zecheng, his face full of smiles, "Hehe, can we talk about something personal?"
An Zecheng asked as he picked up a dish, "What personal problem?"
Tan Hengqiang poured a cup of tea for An Zecheng and handed it to him. "What do you think about us becoming in-laws?"
An Zecheng raised his head, looking at Tan Hengqiang in a daze.
Tan Hengqiang gently patted An Zecheng's hand, "If we were in-laws… everything would be easy to talk about."
