Wei Jie
Chapter 1101 Frequent Dirty Tricks
Around four in the morning, the Su family compound.
The entire family sat in the living room, their faces etched with worry, all in silence. In the dining room to the left, a table laden with delicacies remained untouched. The fresh soup had cooled and congealed.
Su Zhengcai, draped in an overcoat, sat upright in the main seat of the hall, a hint of anxiety etched between his brows. His wife stood by the door, gazing out from time to time.
Su Miaomiao was the most anxious, but she didn't want to worry her family any further. After coaxing her child to sleep, she sat in the room, trying to reassure everyone instead.
"It's this late, why hasn't he returned yet?" The second aunt's face grew increasingly anxious. She muttered to herself as she watched the sky gradually lighten.
"Mom, it's okay," Su Miaomiao said as she stepped forward, gently taking her second aunt's arm. "With Xiao Yu here, he can definitely handle it."
Su Tianbei couldn't sit still. He threw his cigarette butt on the ground, stomped it out, and stood up. "I'm going to take a look."
"Don't go causing trouble," Su Zhengcai scolded. "Sit down."
Su Tianbei explained, "I'm just going to check on the situation..."
"Sit down!" The old man's voice was stern.
"Sit down," Su Tiannan said, pressing his hand down. "If even Xiao Yu can't handle it, there's no use in you going."
Su Tianbei was silent for a moment, then obediently sat back down in his chair.
Just as the family was waiting anxiously, the courtyard gate outside was suddenly pushed open. Xiao Jie ran in, shouting as he ran, "He's back, he's back!"
Everyone in the room stood up at once, rushing out.
Soon, the courtyard gate was wide open. Under the protection of several guards, Su Tianyu and Gui Mengjun walked in.
The crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief upon seeing them.
Su Zhengcai was the first to greet them, pulling his coat tighter as he asked with concern, "Xiao Jun, are you alright?"
Gui Mengjun looked at the crowd surrounding him, feeling a surge of warmth. He said softly, "It's nothing, just a minor situation that caused you all to worry."
Su Zhengcai knew Gui Mengjun was being modest, so he turned to Su Tianyu.
Su Tianyu, seeing his second uncle looking somewhat haggard, reassured him, "They were just looking for trouble, calling my brother-in-law over to deliberately annoy people. But it's nothing serious. They wouldn't dare do anything to him, just asked some questions."
Su Zhengcai nodded gently. "It's good that you're alright, good that you're alright. Come on, let's go inside."
The second aunt also came over, taking Gui Mengjun's hand and asking, "Xiao Jun, are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?"
"It's okay, Mom, I'm not hungry," Gui Mengjun said gently. "I'm so sorry for keeping everyone waiting all night. You should all go back and rest."
The crowd didn't leave, but continued to surround them, offering words of concern.
"Alright, alright, it's getting late. Everyone, go back and rest!" Su Zhengcai waved his hand. Seeing that Gui Mengjun was indeed unharmed, the crowd gradually dispersed.
When everyone had mostly left, Gui Mengjun reached out and gently patted Su Tianyu on the shoulder. "I can see that the other side is trying to stop you from pushing forward with the conference. With so many guests arriving, they can just grab a few for questioning and make things difficult for you. But don't rush or get angry. Go back and rest, and when you wake up, we'll have a good talk about how to handle this."
"Okay, you should go back and rest. You've been standing outside for so long, it's cold. Go wash up," Su Tianyu said, nodding and escorting Gui Mengjun and Miaomiao back to their room.
"Cough, cough..."
Su Tianyu was about to leave when he heard a cough beside him. He turned to see his second uncle walking over again.
Su Zhengcai coughed as he walked up to Su Tianyu and asked, "What exactly happened? How did things suddenly become like this?"
Looking at his second uncle's bloodshot eyes, Su Tianyu felt a pang of guilt and said with a hint of apology, "It's really nothing, I'm sorry for causing you to worry..."
His second uncle waved his hand. "We're family, why say such things? Alright, I don't understand what you guys are doing, so I won't ask too much. But you have to be careful...!"
"Yeah, I know," Su Tianyu said, nodding heavily. "You should go back and rest."
"Yeah."
With that, his second uncle dragged his tired body away.
Su Tianyu watched his back and then glanced at the table full of food that had barely been touched. He felt extremely agitated.
The originally joyous family gathering had been ruined like this, with the whole family worried and scared. This made Su Tianyu feel extremely frustrated and disgusted, like he had swallowed a fly.
With his family gone, Su Tianyu also pushed open the courtyard gate and took a car to the All-Unification Bureau.
...
Nine in the morning, All-Unification Bureau office.
"Ring ring!"
A piercing mobile phone ringtone woke Su Tianyu from the sofa.
After returning to the All-Unification Bureau in the early hours of the morning, Su Tianyu had been dealing with the follow-up arrangements for the An faction and the Bureau of Counter-Terrorism, working until seven or eight in the morning before finally resting. He had barely dozed off when the phone rang again.
Su Tianyu rubbed his aching head, picked up the phone beside him, and held it to his ear, his voice hoarse. "Hello?"
"Are you rested?" An Qiqi's voice came from the phone.
"Just dozed off for a bit," Su Tianyu asked, closing his eyes. "What's wrong?"
"The Second Committee's Military Intelligence Department has arrived," An Qiqi said, her voice somewhat grave. "They went directly to the 10th Infantry Division's garrison to set up office. Those bastards brought a large group of soldiers this morning to patrol our hotel and the conference venue. Old Wu's two political and business friends were also questioned in their office. This has really annoyed them, and they're scared. I think if we continue to push forward with the conference, there will definitely be more problems."
Su Tianyu thought for a long time, then sat up straight and cleared his throat. "Alright, put all the work on the organizing committee on hold and postpone the date of the conference. Notify those who have already received invitations, and don't send out any more that haven't been sent yet. Now, we'll go all out to deal with the 10th Infantry Division."
An Qiqi asked with some concern, "Are you confident? Try not to have any friction with them."
Su Tianyu rubbed his forehead. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
"Okay, then I'll handle the organizing committee's affairs. Take care of yourself," An Qiqi said, hanging up the phone.
Su Tianyu stood up from the sofa, walked to the window, and looked out at the bustling streets of Dragon City, his brow furrowed as he pondered how to handle this thorny problem.
After smoking who knows how many cigarettes, Su Tianyu suddenly pulled out his phone and made a call. "Yes, come to my office... immediately!"
...
10th Infantry Division Headquarters, Parker held the phone and said softly, "Yes, we have already launched the operation..."
