Chapter 459 Conversation in the Car
Su Tianyu glanced at him sideways. "Heh, sounds good. Let's go. I'll take you somewhere."
"Let's go!" Fei Pingsheng stood up and said casually to his second uncle, "I'll be going then, Second Uncle."
His second uncle didn't bother to argue with him and, out of consideration for Su Tianyu's face, nodded slightly.
A few minutes later, Su Tianyu left the Su family compound with Fei Pingsheng and got into a coast guard SUV.
"Got a smoke? I want one," Fei Pingsheng said, sitting in the passenger seat.
"Woong!"
Su Tianyu ignored him. After starting the car, he slammed on the gas pedal, nearly causing Fei Pingsheng to slam into the windshield.
The car sped toward Tianhong Port Development Zone. Fei Pingsheng sat in his seat, not asking where they were going, just making small talk. "Hey, Tianyu, when did you retire from the military? You don't look that old...!"
Su Tianyu stared ahead, his voice cold. "It's about a thirty-minute drive from here to the coast guard station. If you can't explain why you came to me in that time, you'll be eating dinner in the detention center tonight."
Hearing this, Fei Pingsheng casually picked up Su Tianyu's cigarettes from the car, lit one himself, and took a deep drag. "Ah, that's the stuff!"
Su Tianyu ignored him and just drove.
"My brother got arrested, and your cousin got arrested. We can work together," Fei Pingsheng said, holding the cigarette and squinting. "You guys have people and ability, and we have information. We can help each other out."
"Since when do law enforcement agencies cooperate with criminals?" Su Tianyu retorted.
"All the time," Fei Pingsheng grinned. "Doesn't the Supervisory Committee cooperate with Baolong, who committed crimes? In this day and age, nothing is surprising."
Su Tianyu glanced at the bald man in the rearview mirror, thinking to himself that this guy might seem easygoing, but he was actually quite bold.
Zhang Chao's incident meant that the Su family had no connection to them anymore. Plus, there was the Tianlan Company shooting, and the Association shooting was still unsolved. The bald man and his crew were the prime suspects. So, his sudden appearance was a risk. If he had run into a hothead, they would have arrested him already.
To dare come here meant risking his life. To be able to sit here so calmly meant that, on one hand, he was incredibly brave, and on the other hand, he probably had gathered some information about Su Tianyu and had a good idea of his temperament.
Su Tianyu drove the car, frowning as he replied, "You still haven't convinced me. Putting aside the specific situation with the human traffickers, the fact that you kidnapped Old Pang and opened fire in Tianhong Port is too much. The higher-ups have already ordered a strict investigation."
Fei Pingsheng glanced at Su Tianyu's expression and continued slowly, "Wang Xiong has been caught, but your cousin and Zhang Chao have been arrested. Both sides are holding cards. How do you think things will develop?"
Su Tianyu was silent.
"The other main culprit who escaped from Dragon City is called Wang Zhen. He's Wang Xiong's older brother," Fei Pingsheng continued in a low voice. "Plus, the Wang brothers are private armed heads protecting the human trafficking industry. They know a lot of information. So, whether it's Wang Zhen or their upper-level organization, they're definitely going to protect Wang Xiong."
"An exchange?" Su Tianyu asked.
"Definitely an exchange," Fei Pingsheng took a puff of his cigarette. "You only have enough evidence to convict Wang Xiong right now, but if you want to investigate this case further, the cards you hold aren't enough! The head of Tianlan Company was silenced, and a boatload of victims were killed. Plus, all the main culprits who transport people at sea have fled! Your leads have all been cut off."
"I can pry Wang Xiong's mouth open."
"You can't!" Fei Pingsheng retorted.
"I can!" Su Tianyu emphasized.
"The hell you can. If you could, you wouldn't be sitting here listening to my bullshit. You'd have put handcuffs on me already," Fei Pingsheng said confidently. "You don't have enough information."
Su Tianyu glanced at him, not arguing.
"You can give up on Zhang Chao, but you can't give up on your cousin, right?" Fei Pingsheng lowered the car window a little, enjoying the cool breeze, his expression relaxed. "The exchange definitely won't happen in Dragon City, but outside of Dragon City, your coast guard knows nothing about the other side. You might as well be blind. Are you confident you can get them back?"
"Get to the point!"
"I'm looking for Wang Xiong and Wang Zhen's private armed base and the final destination of the trafficked people," Fei Pingsheng revealed his cards. "If we can take out the other side's lair, then saving people will be easy, right?"
Su Tianyu turned to look at him. "How long will it take?"
"Once I get a lead, give me three days," Fei Pingsheng replied.
Su Tianyu thought carefully.
"Arresting me won't do any good! I wasn't at the scene of Old Pang's kidnapping, and I wasn't involved in the Tianlan Company shooting. I'm a law-abiding citizen! Officer!" Fei Pingsheng said, glancing sideways. "I came with sincerity."
Hearing this, Su Tianyu pointed to the recording device above in the car. "What you've said is enough to convict you!"
"That's not cool!" Fei Pingsheng frowned. "Can't we be a little more Jianghu about this?!"
As the two were talking, the car had already arrived outside the coast guard team, but Su Tianyu didn't show any signs of stopping.
Fei Pingsheng looked at the gate of the coast guard station and asked hesitantly, "You don't really want to take me back to the unit, do you?! Are you stupid? Haven't you understood after all I've said?"
Su Tianyu turned the steering wheel. "Zhang Chao lied to me, didn't he?!"
"What?" Fei Pingsheng was stunned for a moment.
"I've been thinking, after the Tianlan Company shooting, Zhang Chao had already escaped. Logically, the other side should first deal with the Tianlan issue urgently, clean up the mess, and then quickly evacuate," Su Tianyu said softly. "But they didn't do that. They insisted on finding Zhang Chao, even if it meant killing people and creating another bloody incident, drawing attention from above. Isn't that a little... stupid?"
Fei Pingsheng looked at Su Tianyu without replying.
"Why do you think they did that?" Su Tianyu asked, looking at him.
"Yeah, why do you think they did that?" Fei Pingsheng hadn't expected Su Tianyu to ask this question at all, and his eyes became even more evasive.
"We're here. Why don't we get out and talk?" Su Tianyu parked the car in the parking lot inside the compound and reached out to push open the car door.
Fei Pingsheng looked at the swarming officers around him and unconsciously licked his chapped lips.
"Let's go, get out of the car!" Su Tianyu pushed the door open and walked out.
"Brother, brother! Don't get excited... Come on, get in!" Fei Pingsheng said anxiously, "I'm off the books. Let's not do anything too dramatic...!"
"I'll give you three more seconds, just three seconds!"
"Brother, you're really...!"
"3!"
"Zhang Chao took the other side's ledger, shipping records, personnel records!" Fei Pingsheng finally told the truth, forced to do so.
"Damn it, I knew you guys were lying to me!" Su Tianyu rushed into the car and grabbed Fei Pingsheng by the neck. "Do you know that because you didn't tell the truth, someone on our side died!"
