Chapter 617 Who is Laying the Bait

Chapter 139 The Death of Zhou Peng

It was a little after three in the morning when a car screeched to a halt in front of the Police Department Hospital. Su Tianyu pushed the door open and rushed out, leading Hou Guoyu and the others into the lobby.

At this hour, the lobby of the Police Department Hospital was mostly deserted. As soon as Su Tianyu entered, he saw several officers from the Zha Nan district gathered together chatting and making phone calls.

"Where's Brother Wang?" Su Tianyu asked as he rushed over.

"Oh, it's Team Leader Su! Brother Wang is inside!" a familiar officer immediately greeted him. "Come on, I'll take you in."

"Good!"

The group hurried up the stairs to the third floor, found the emergency room, and located Wang Daolin.

Inside the room, Wang Daolin extended his hand and said, "Then I'll have to trouble you!"

"You're welcome," a doctor said, shaking Wang Daolin's hand. "We'll keep him here for now. I'll give you the results by tomorrow afternoon at the latest."

"Alright," Wang Daolin replied, turning and walking out of the room. He looked up, saw Su Tianyu, and sighed. "Ugh, I didn't even get two hours of sleep before something else happened!"

Su Tianyu glanced around, then pulled Wang Daolin into the stairwell. "What's the situation?"

"I brought him back and locked him up alone," Wang Daolin said, looking distraught. He put his hands on his hips. "That bastard is a slippery one. He started acting as soon as he came in, saying his stomach hurt and his chest was tight. I even had someone check him out, but they said he was fine at the time."

"Ah! And then what?"

"Then I asked him if he could talk, but he played dumb with me. I thought I'd just hold him for a while and break his will." Wang Daolin frowned as he recounted the events. "Who would've thought that I'd just fallen asleep when the officers in the station told me that he was about to die? We went downstairs and were just about to send him to the hospital when that bastard kicked the bucket."

Su Tianyu was silent for a few seconds. "What did the hospital say?"

"The initial diagnosis is cardiac arrest. The specifics aren't certain yet. It's already after three, and no one can do an autopsy. The earliest would be tomorrow afternoon," Wang Daolin replied, looking at his watch.

"Did you hit him?" Su Tianyu asked suddenly.

"Yeah, he was acting up the whole time, banging his head against the wall, so the officers down there definitely roughed him up," Wang Daolin replied truthfully.

"Crap, this is..." A sense of foreboding rose in Su Tianyu's heart. "It's going to be troublesome that he died."

"I have all the evidence and information about his suspected crimes," Wang Daolin was a shrewd man, and he explained softly, "I even finished the case about him selling contraband in Zha Nan. We arrested him to investigate the case, not to abuse our law enforcement powers."

Su Tianyu blinked. "It's easy to deal with a Zhou Peng, but the problem is that there's a group of people standing behind him! Think about it, the people at the dockworkers' association all know the purpose of our bringing him back. Now that the person has ascended to heaven in the police department, what will the other side think?"

Wang Daolin was silent.

"Zhou Peng didn't agree to support Brother Wei, and then he was arrested. The person was brought back and died in less than twenty-four hours." Su Tianyu considered many things. "This will give the other people in the dockworkers' association the feeling that we're killing the chicken to scare the monkeys. They'll be forced to band together."

"What you said makes sense...!"

"His death is likely not an accident." Su Tianyu interrupted. "Brother Wang, put all the officers who came into contact with him from the restaurant to the police station under control! I suspect that it's very likely an inside job!"

"I've already done that. The officers who had contact with Zhou Peng haven't left, and I've confiscated their cell phones." Wang Daolin immediately replied, "Even the doctor who saw him is still at the station... But I don't think this was done inside the station."

"Why do you say that?" Su Tianyu asked.

"Zhou Peng is so important, would I find two small fries to watch him?" Wang Daolin immediately replied, "The people who worked with me on this yesterday were all my brothers. They... shouldn't do anything behind my back. As for that doctor, he went back to sleep after examining Zhou Peng, and he hasn't left! If he did it, wouldn't he run away? Once the examination results come out tomorrow, wouldn't everything be revealed?"

At this point, the two fell silent.

Three seconds later, Su Tianyu suddenly looked up at Wang Daolin, and the latter was also staring at him.

"The restaurant!"

The two said almost in unison.

"That's possible!" Wang Daolin immediately added, "I'll take people over there right now!"

"The waiter, the cook!" Su Tianyu shouted and strode after him.

...

In the Dragon City urban area, inside the bedroom of a villa.

Yu Zheng, who was in his fifties, was wearing silk pajamas and sitting on the soft edge of the bed, reaching out to pull open a drawer.

Under the bed, a fair-skinned girl in her twenties was washing the old man's shriveled, yellowing feet.

"You don't seem to be in a good mood today!" the girl asked.

Yu Zheng glanced at her, but didn't speak. He just took four small boxes out of the drawer.

The girl pouted and continued to wash his feet.

Yu Zheng took three pills from the first small box, gently chewed them in his mouth, looking very refined.

"All done," the girl said, patting Yu Zheng's calf.

"Water!" Yu Zheng said tersely.

The girl turned and left in her halter top. After a while, she came back with a glass of warm water and placed it on the bedside table. Then she lay on her back on the bed, with a look of utter despair on her face. "I'm waiting for you!"

Yu Zheng took out two white pills from the second small box and swallowed them with water.

One pill, two pills, six, seven, eight, nine pills...

Yu Zheng sat on the edge of the bed and fiddled around for more than twenty minutes, eating at least ten pills or more. Only then did he look much more energetic.

Slowly taking off his silk robe, Yu Zheng turned around, wearing his Pikachu underwear, and said, "Then... let's begin!"

"Okay!" The girl yawned.

"Ring-a-ling!!"

Just then, a phone rang.

Annoyed, Yu Zheng looked at the bedside table, frowned, got out of bed again, picked up the phone, and pressed the answer button. "Hello?"

"...!" There was no response on the other end.

"Hello, who is it?"

"Beep, beep!" The call was hung up.

"Fucking sick!" Yu Zheng cursed as he looked at the phone screen. He was just about to turn around and get down to business when he heard the notification sound of a text message.

He opened it and saw a photo of Zhou Peng being pushed into the hospital after his death. There was also text below!

He's dead, you're next!!

Yu Zheng looked at the photo, and cold sweat instantly poured out of his body!

The person is dead?

Yu Zheng's head was buzzing. He sat in place for a long time before finally getting up and shouting, "Quick, get me my clothes!"

"What are you doing?"

"I'm going out!"

"...Oh!" The girl escaped a disaster and immediately went down to get Yu Zheng's clothes.

Five minutes later, Yu Zheng, with a small tent propping up in his crotch, ran downstairs covered in sweat!

After all, he had taken medicine, and Yu Zheng was a little flustered and uncomfortable, but he couldn't care less at the moment.

...

At the same time.

Gu Bai Shun, who was sitting at home, also received a text message.
