Chapter 154: One Minute
"You?! All this time?!" Jade hissed, her voice filled with a venomous disbelief.
"Yep!" Jinx stood up, her movements fluid as she walked back to Jade’s command chair and sat down.
"We were fooling you from the very start." Jinx tapped the speaker button on the communicator, her voice echoing and reverberating across the hundreds of thousands of battleships and warships around them.
"Hello, my fellow soldiers!" she said with a bright smile. "Your new commander is speaking... My name is Jinx."
Sunny and the soldiers stood motionless, all listening intently to her voice.
"You see that man before you? He is God Wolf... and trust me, he has the power to wipe you all out. Your mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, kids, and all your loved ones will lose you. Can you imagine what they will feel if you don’t return from this mission?!" She paused for a moment before continuing.
"Your nation is already under our control. By now, your Queen will be on her knees."
"What are you saying?!" Jade hissed, her voice a strained whisper.
"Shhh," Jinx shushed her, a finger to her lips.
Jade tried to speak again, but found her lips were sealed shut.
"Where was I?" Jinx continued, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Oh yeah! The God Wolf has a good offer for every one of you... and it’s very simple." She giggled.
"You have one minute to decide, right here and now. Join the God Wolf and accept him as your new King, and you will instantly receive one million galaxy crystals. Or... you attack him and get wiped out. Take note," her tone turned serious:
"If you attack, I will personally make sure your entire family line gets wiped out from your nation. But if you join us, your nation and family will flourish! It is all up to you... Whatever you decide now will determine your fate!"
She removed her finger from the speaker and turned to the crew in the warship.
"What do you guys say?" she asked.
The men and women looked at one another, their faces a mix of confusion and fear. They didn’t know how to answer.
"What? Did the cat catch your tongue?" Jinx asked, a frown on her face.
"I... I have a husband and two kids at home. I’m sorry, Commander," a woman said, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"You?! Are you going against the Queen?!" Jade yelled at her.
"The lives of my children are more important! I am sorry!" she yelled back at Jade.
"....?!"
Jade was speechless.
"That’s the spirit! I like you already!" Jinx snapped her fingers, and the woman’s strength was instantly restored.
"You?!" Jade turned to her, a look of pure shock on her face. "You said you couldn’t undo it."
"And you believed that?! Are you that stupid?! Why wouldn’t I be able to control my own skill?" Jinx asked, her stare unwavering.
"Tell me something... all those things you said, which one was the truth?" Jade asked.
"Well... I have a sister." Jinx stood up and walked back to Jade, standing directly in front of her.
"I told you she was traveling with the God Wolf, but instead, you attacked the ship without caring about her life. In this whole world, she is the only one I have. If something had happened to her, you wouldn’t be standing here."
A dagger appeared in Jinx’s hand, which she spun around her fingers with practiced ease. "Okay! Time’s up!"
She turned to the rest of the crew.
"I will join the God Wolf!"
"Yes! He is our King!"
"Yes!"
The men and women quickly yelled, sweat pouring down their faces.
Jinx nodded and turned her head to the youngest in the group, a young lady who looked to be in her early twenties.
"What about you?" Jinx asked, a slight tilt of her head.
"I will never accept a tyrant! He wants to take over our nation by threatening us?! There are more than two hundred thousand soldiers here! And he said he would give one million galaxy crystals to each soldier! Do you think I am a fool?! These guys are scared, so they’ll say anything to keep themselves alive, but I won’t! The God Wolf is a—"
BAM!
"....?!"
Everyone froze, staring at the dagger now lodged in the young lady’s skull, her third eye completely penetrated by the weapon.
"Who’s next?" Jinx asked, and with a snap of her fingers, the dagger flew out from the lady’s skull and landed back in her palm. The lady’s lifeless body fell to the ground with a sickening thud.
Everyone swallowed hard and quickly shook their heads.
"Lovely! I love this negotiation!" Jinx walked back to the commander’s seat and slumped into it, then pressed her finger on the speaker once more.
"Okay, my fellow soldiers! One minute is up! Tell me your decision... Wait. If you welcome the God Wolf, shut down your cannons, but if you disagree with him, you’re free to attack him!" she said, staring at the ships before her.
BAM!
BAM!
Jade watched in horror as all the warship cannons retracted back into the ships.
"Nice! I love everyone’s spirit! Don’t worry, for this, your families will also receive one million galaxy crystals! Once the King balances everything in your nation, every single citizen will benefit!" she yelled, then added:
"No matter the number of family members you have, each one of them will receive one million galaxy crystals!"
"Fufufu... You are so stupid. The God Wolf doesn’t have all these soldiers’ account details!" Jade said with a dark laugh.
"Oh, really? How are you so sure about that?" Jinx asked with a mischievous smirk.
DING!
DING!
DING!
DING!
DING!
All the soldiers in the ships turned on their cosmic brains, seeing a credited amount of one million in their accounts.
"Did! I just received one million!"
"Same!"
"Wow! I thought he was just saying it!"
"Me too, I didn’t expect he would actually send it to everyone!"
"Can we trust the God Wolf?"
"Huh? If my family receives the money she mentioned, I’ll even bow at his feet."
"Same... My family will need that money!"
"The taxes are high, but if another ruler takes over, he might reduce everything!"
The soldiers murmured amongst themselves, their faces filled with shock, surprise, and disbelief.
"Impossible... No cosmic brain can work that fast!" Jade muttered in horror.
"Let me tell you a secret." Jinx leaned forward, a sly smile on her face.
"With the God Wolf, nothing is impossible."
