Chapter 708: Chapter 710 Hua Yuan
Imperial Military Academy, outside the Principal’s office.
Fu Yunhe heard a familiar voice inside, his fingers resting on the doorknob. With a firm grip, he pushed the door open and entered.
“Principal, Fu Yunhe reporting!”
The office was very orderly, with a glass window directly opposite the door overlooking the training field.
To the left of the door, against the wall, stood a bookcase overflowing with books. Directly opposite the bookcase was a large, solid wood desk. Sitting behind it was the Principal, Hua Yuan.
Hua Yuan had received a message from his assistant, knowing Fu Yunhe was coming up. He shed all air of dignity as if he were a close friend, gesturing toward the wooden chair by the window, “Sit down, no need to be formal.”
“Thank you, Principal.”
Fu Yunhe didn’t hesitate but took a seat, still sitting straight with his eyes fixed forward.
At this moment, Hua Yuan walked over from behind the desk and sat opposite Fu Yunhe. Looking at the man whose power should not be inferior to his own, he asked, “SSS rank, right?”
“Yes!”
Fu Yunhe responded loudly, prompting Hua Yu to nod in confirmation; it was as expected.
Hua Yuan himself was also an SSS cultivator; otherwise, he would not have held his position as Head of the Academy with such stability.
He had no love for being the Principal, but after the disappearance of a teacher and the death of his junior brother in battle, he had no other choice.
Sometimes, not seizing power means being disarmed. He realized he wouldn’t be able to achieve anything he wished to.
Seeing Fu Yunhe, Hua Yuan was struck with a moment of sentiment; both bore the name Yun He.
“You’ve come today to discuss advancing your studies, haven’t you?”
“Yes, I wish to earn credits in advance to graduate early and join the battle.”
Fu Yunhe’s reply made Hua Yuan smile and nod, “That’s good. Once, someone did the same as you.”
“I’ll approve the procedures for you. Just attend the classes you need, and once you reach the graduation credits, you are free to graduate.”
Fu Yunhe looked at the somewhat emotional Hua Yuan, feeling a bittersweet taste in his heart.
His senior brother’s death and his master’s disappearance had forced the most free-spirited senior brother to take on the responsibility that should have been his.
He remembered how Hua Yuan had longed for a life of freedom, wishing to see and travel the entire interstellar.
But now, he was confined to this school.
“Thank you, Principal. I will strive hard.”
He would work hard to become a new generation leader, someone who could take on the responsibility for him.
Hua Yuan nodded without saying more.
Fu Yunhe stood up and left the office; one outside, one inside, both feeling somewhat disquieted.
Fu Yunhe composed himself before leaving the entrance, embarking on his journey to earn credits.
Hua Yuan, too, stood up but remained before the window, watching the figure who strode out of the administration building.
“What is it? Why does even his walk seem so similar?”
“In this world, could there really be two such similar people?”
Currently, Hua Yuan could only marvel at their resemblance. The Yun He from before had also advanced his studies early, but he had come from the battlefield, more like someone on further training.
This Fu Yunhe, on the other hand, was to go to the battlefield after studying at the Academy.
Hua Yuan wondered if the records left by Yun He could be maintained.
Hua Yuan turned away from the window and returned to his desk to manage the Academy’s affairs.
Though busy and far removed from his previous ideals, Hua Yuan didn’t feel tired.
Before, while he was the elder senior brother, he was the one cared for.
Yun He had handled everything, and he had been someone who could just lie back and relax.
But now, Hua Yuan needed to stand up; he didn’t feel tired because he had a reason to exert effort.
A reason that was above all else.
Fu Yunhe, having left Hua Yuan’s office, immediately contacted Nian Shutong.
It just so happened that Nian Shutong had passed off her task of serving food to someone else, and she walked to the side to answer the call.
“Is it done?”
“Mhm, it’s done, and I’m going to be busy right away,” Fu Yunhe said with a hint of reluctance, “I won’t be attending the Alchemy Class anymore.”
“That’s fine, you don’t have the talent for it anyway,” Nian Shutong said, knowing without seeing that Fu Yunhe was making a sullen face on the other end.
“Fu Yunhe, don’t pout.”
On the other end, Fu Yunhe immediately adjusted his expression.
“Nian Shutong, you’re too much. Are you sure you haven’t installed a surveillance device on me?”
“Psh! Why would I need to monitor you? You wouldn’t dare do anything to offend me even if you had the guts.”
The two teased each other for a few moments, then Nian Shutong stopped joking and said, “Go ahead, I’m still waiting to be the Commander’s Wife, and besides, that’s where you belong.”
“I will.”
After they ended the call, Nian Shutong immediately contacted Lian Qing with some instructions, then went to dine with the bald master professors.
At the meal, the master professors once again expressed their gratitude to Nian Shutong, who waved it off casually, saying, “Don’t thank me; I made some money too.”
“Ha Ha! You’re right, it’s a win-win.”
Nian Shutong also said, “Exactly, win-win.”
The two clinked their water glasses together in lieu of wine.
“Master Professor, I won’t have much time to come here from now on. I’ll be busy for a while. When I have free time, I’ll come, but don’t worry about the supply; someone will take care of it.”
“Okay, take care of your business, don’t worry about anything.”
Though they hadn’t known each other for long, they got along very well, both straightforward and uninterested in prolonged chatter.
After the meal, Nian Shutong left first. From tomorrow, eighteen students selected by the Academy would begin their special classes.
When this news reached those eighteen, they felt their days of misery were approaching.
Because Nian Shutong didn’t take up any class time, she demanded the evening period after classes.
The next day, when classes ended, while everyone was discussing where to have dinner, those eighteen sorrowfully headed to the training field to continue classes.
But as they were halfway there, they ran into five professors also on their way to class, which immediately invigorated them, and they ran without complaining.
“It seems their current training is still too relaxed; look at the energy they have when they run.”
“That’s right, I’ll mention it to the training instructor when we get back.”
The people ahead had no idea that their enthusiastic behavior would bring about certain consequences.
Afterwards, every time classes ended, they all wished they could crawl there instead of running.
When both the eighteen students and the five professors were all present, Nian Shutong greeted everyone with particular enthusiasm.
“Good evening.”
“Good evening, teacher.”
Nian Shutong’s smile was particularly brilliant, making the students and professors opposite her feel a bit uneasy.
Students: When the teacher smiles like that, it’s never a good sign.
Professors: It seems when they smile, it’s when they want to trick the students.
