Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 19 Hostage Situation
The fatty's heart skipped a beat. "You think what?"
"I think she might have fallen in love with me," Jiang Cheng said with a hint of helplessness.
Fatty: "......"
Jiang Cheng waited for a while and noticed that the fatty wasn't saying anything. He turned to look at him and asked, "Why aren't you talking?"
The fatty took a deep breath. "Let me smoke a cigarette and calm down."
Just as Jiang Cheng was excitedly about to analyze with the fatty that Chen Xiaomeng's feelings for him were not simply because he was handsome, his stomach inadvertently grumbled.
The fatty instantly perked up and asked Jiang Cheng if he was hungry, and if he could make something to eat.
Jiang Cheng remembered the fatty's cooking skills during the mission, nodded, and pointed in the direction of the kitchen. The fatty scurried off as if he were escaping.
Leaving Jiang Cheng alone, smacking his lips with some lingering anticipation.
Jiang Cheng rarely cooked, and the refrigerator was mostly filled with frozen food. There was also a box of Kang Shuai Fu instant noodles in the corner, bought on sale when they were about to expire.
The fatty busied himself for half an hour, barely managing to put together two dishes.
There was no staple food, so he opened a few more bags of instant noodles and stir-fried them. After bringing them to the table, Jiang Cheng devoured more than half of them by himself.
"Doctor," the fatty put down his bowl after taking a bite of the noodles, "do you usually live here alone?"
Jiang Cheng picked up the plate, transferred the remaining dishes to his own bowl, ate them all in one go, and then wiped his mouth with a tissue. He nodded and said, "Most of the time, yes, and I have no intention of taking in another person."
The fatty wore a bitter face and said, "Doctor, don't be like this. Although I'm not as wise as you, and not as handsome as you, I've done many jobs and can definitely help you."
Jiang Cheng looked at the empty bowls on the table as if he was really considering it, but he didn't answer immediately.
The fatty thought there was a chance and became invigorated. He said excitedly, "Doctor, you don't have to make a decision right away. Think about it carefully. I'm really useful!"
"We'll talk about this tomorrow," Jiang Cheng moved his slightly stiff neck. "I'm tired, let's go to sleep first."
The fatty quickly cleared the table and took the dishes to the kitchen, the sound of water washing dishes coming from within. "Doctor, you go to sleep first. I'll wash the dishes and then just crash on the sofa for the night."
But when the fatty finished washing the dishes, shaking the water off his hands as he walked out of the kitchen, he saw Jiang Cheng sitting on the sofa in front of the table, seemingly unmoved.
"Doctor," the fatty asked suspiciously, "do you still have something to do?"
Jiang Cheng looked the fatty up and down, raised his eyebrows, and said, "You go upstairs to sleep too. I'm afraid of the dark alone."
The fatty was stunned, and then, as if he had thought of something bad, suddenly covered his butt and said in a panic, "Doctor, I'm not as casual as you think!"
"Not?"
The fatty thought for a moment and said firmly, "Not even if I die!"
"Okay then," Jiang Cheng stood up naturally, without the slightest hint of coercion. He started walking towards the stairs, and then went upstairs. When his figure was about to disappear, he paused and turned his head to look at the fatty. "Be careful tonight," he said, pointing to the wall opposite him. "The door from my dream appeared there, and also, I'm not like you. I didn't walk into that door myself, but was grabbed by a huge ghost hand that reached out from the door."
After saying that, Jiang Cheng went upstairs without looking back.
After Jiang Cheng left, the fatty sat alone on the sofa, his eyes fixed on the wall, restless.
He couldn't tell if what Jiang Cheng said was true. This was a person who didn't like to play by the rules, but in a way, he was trustworthy, at least he brought himself out of the nightmare realm alive.
As soon as the fatty closed his eyes, he vaguely felt that the iron door Jiang Cheng spoke of had reappeared, and then a huge, clawing ghost hand stretched out from inside.
The pale-faced fatty stayed downstairs for less than 5 minutes before running upstairs, where he ran into Jiang Cheng leaning against the banister next to the stairs, looking like he was waiting for him.
Before he could open his mouth, he heard Jiang Cheng say, "You sleep in the living room, I'll sleep inside."
The fatty followed Jiang Cheng's gaze and saw a door that separated the small living room, presumably the bedroom was inside.
"Doctor," the fatty said righteously, "if you're afraid of the dark, I can consider squeezing in with you."
Lying on the mattress, Jiang Cheng didn't feel much sleepiness. He half-closed his eyes, staring at the empty ceiling, the scenes from the nightmare replaying repeatedly in his mind.
The fatty was in the living room outside the door. He had suggested that Jiang Cheng not close the door, so that they could take care of each other.
But Jiang Cheng felt that he didn't need his care, so he politely declined. Not only did he close the door as usual, but he also locked it.
Combining his recent experiences, Jiang Cheng naturally thought of the missing Hu Yan, and Hu Yan's younger sister, who had disappeared before Hu Yan.
Their disappearance was probably also related to this so-called nightmare.
According to Fan Li, people who died in the nightmare disappeared in the real world.
Without warning or reason, a bizarre disappearance.
No one could figure it out.
And Hu Yan's missing person notice clearly stated that Hu Yan disappeared late at night, wearing a light pink silk pajamas when she disappeared.
Her husband, who shared the same bed, didn't notice anything.
The middle-aged man who died in the nightmare mission first asked how to completely escape the nightmare, to which Fan Li replied by telling him to ask fewer stupid questions.
There are only 0 and countless times when it comes to nightmares. Once that iron door appears in your dream, it's almost impossible to escape until you die.
As he thought, sleepiness gradually crept in. Jiang Cheng didn't deliberately restrain this force, but closed his eyes and went with the flow.
The physical strength consumed in the nightmare returned to this body with the end of the nightmare, but the energy consumed could not be recovered. Jiang Cheng slept very deeply this time.
In a half-dreaming state, he heard a clanging sound, like the neighbors were renovating, or someone was nailing something nearby, and the floor was trembling slightly.
He turned over, curled up, covered his head with the quilt, and fell asleep again.
What finally forced him to open his eyes was a knock on the door.
"Doctor," the fatty's loud voice came from outside the bedroom door, "are you up yet?"
After Jiang Cheng got up, he tidied up briefly, opened the door, and walked out.
The living room outside the bedroom was empty, with no sign of the fatty. He went downstairs.
The phone showed that it was already 11 a.m. Jiang Cheng didn't expect that he had slept until noon, and his head was still groggy at the moment.
