Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 28 Tricks
The bedding was neatly arranged, the table meticulously wiped, and a pot of unidentifiable flowers adorned the single windowsill.
The flowers were a pale lavender, exuding a strangely sorrowful air.
Moved by the scene, Fatty said, "Doctor, don't you think those of us caught in this nightmare are like duckweed in a chaotic world, drifting aimlessly, unsure of where to take root, living day to day, with death possibly arriving at any moment?"
"Perhaps," Jiang Cheng sighed, "But at least I have you by my side."
Fatty was instantly touched by this, his eyes welling up with tears. "Doctor, I didn't expect our feelings to have evolved to this point after only a few days of knowing each other. Do you feel happy to have me with you in your final moments?"
Jiang Cheng looked at Fatty's sincere gaze and said emotionally, "Fatty, think about it carefully. If you can survive, how could the danger we face possibly take my life?"
"I'm bound to die after you," Jiang Cheng continued, "So rest assured, if that day really comes, I'll do my best to bring your ashes out and bury them in the flowerpot in my office. You're big, so the calcium and phosphorus content in your ashes will be higher than average."
Fatty: "Doctor, did no one ever teach you how to talk?"
Jiang Cheng had already thoroughly checked the room. Apart from a very small, locked cabinet that he couldn't open no matter what, he hadn't found anything suspicious yet.
After confirming it was safe, Fatty collapsed onto the bed. His stomach rumbled at the same time. "Doctor, I'm hungry."
But it was already completely dark, and moving around in the dark without any clues was undoubtedly foolish and dangerous.
What's more, the woman who led them here had specifically reminded them not to move around at night, for reasons yet unknown.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Cheng pulled out a large bar of chocolate from his pocket, with a red wrapper, the kind Fatty remembered being popular when he was very young.
"Where did you get that?" Fatty sat up straight in an instant, his eyes shining.
"On the way here," Jiang Cheng broke off a piece and tossed it over. Fatty hurriedly caught it.
After taking a small bite, Fatty seemed to realize something. He looked up and asked, "Was it on the way to the café?"
When Fatty left the café, he saw many supermarkets of various sizes nearby, but he couldn't figure out how Jiang Cheng had bought the chocolate without any money.
When they entered the nightmare, most of their belongings were removed, including money.
Jiang Cheng also took a small bite of chocolate, looked out the dark window, and chewed slowly, saying, "I didn't buy it."
"You didn't buy it?"
"Mm."
"Then how did you get it?" The next moment Fatty said this, his eyes suddenly widened, as if he had realized something incredible. He asked in surprise, "You didn't steal it, did you?"
"Nonsense!" Jiang Cheng looked at Fatty in displeasure. "The supermarket owner insisted on giving it to me. She got angry when I said no."
Fatty stared at Jiang Cheng suspiciously. "Come on, Doctor, tell me, where can I find such a cheap owner? Please give me a dozen."
Jiang Cheng put down the chocolate and was about to have a big debate with Fatty about whether such a cheap owner existed when Fatty gave up. He raised a hand and said, "Doctor, you're leading me astray. We're in a nightmare right now, and we might die tomorrow."
"Don't be so pessimistic," Jiang Cheng patted him on the shoulder and comforted him. "You might not even survive tonight."
Fatty: "......"
407.
The girl in the dinosaur pajamas curled up on the bed, covering most of her body with the blanket, shivering non-stop.
"Sister," the girl in the dinosaur pajamas looked at the qipao woman sitting in the chair, her voice trembling. "Don't you think it's cold here? I'm cold even wearing pajamas. Aren't you cold?"
Like Jiang Cheng, the first thing the qipao woman did upon entering the room was to carefully check the entire room.
Apart from finding a comb that was broken in half in the drawer, she didn't find anything else unusual.
Even the trash can was very clean, with a brand new trash bag inside.
"If you're just trying to find topics to talk about to ease your fear, I advise you not to waste your time," the qipao woman said in a cold voice. "It's pointless and will only distract us."
The girl in the dinosaur pajamas seemed to be startled by the qipao woman's aura and stopped talking, but her stomach still grumbled uncontrollably.
"Turn around and close the curtains," the qipao woman said in a commanding tone.
The bed of the girl in the dinosaur pajamas was next to the window, which had a blue curtain. It wasn't big, but it should be enough to cover the window.
The pajama girl reached out of the blanket, shivering, and quickly closed the curtains.
"Be gentle," the qipao woman's tone wasn't good. "If you tear the curtains down, who knows what trouble it will cause."
The pajama girl was stunned when she heard this. "What trouble will it cause?"
The qipao woman looked at her a few times, but finally looked away and didn't answer her. She stood up, walked to her bed, lay down, and covered herself with the blanket up to her chin.
"Doctor," Fatty looked at Jiang Cheng, who was moving the mattress and bedding to the floor, and asked in confusion, "Why are you sleeping on the floor when there's a bed?"
After a long while, Fatty seemed to have a flash of inspiration. The corners of his mouth twitched and he said, "Do you think a ghost will crawl out from under the bed in this instance, so you're preparing in advance?"
"Not really," Jiang Cheng spread out the blanket, arranged the pillow, and patted it hard a few times until a dent the size of a head appeared. Then, he lay down comfortably, wriggling his body and saying, "I'm just used to it."
Fatty nodded. Although he had never been to Jiang Cheng's bedroom in the real world, he remembered Jiang Cheng once telling him: if you want to rob something other than money, you can go to his bedroom, but there is no bed, only a mattress.
"By the way," Fatty scratched his head and asked strangely, "Doctor, why are you targeting that man in the suit?"
He paused and continued, "He didn't offend us. I don't think there's any point in doing that. You're just creating a complicated enemy for yourself for no reason."
"To put it bluntly, if you hadn't targeted him, we probably wouldn't have ended up in this room 404."
Jiang Cheng looked at the ceiling, put his hands under his head, and said slowly after a long while, "He was the one who played tricks first."
Fatty was shocked when he heard this. He sat up and widened his eyes. "What did you say, Doctor?"
