Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 212 Pathfinder
"Oh?" Chen Ran raised an eyebrow.
Su Xiaoxiao had no interest in getting entangled with Chen Ran and said directly, "We are siblings, we grew up together. If he's in danger… I can feel it."
Chen Ran thought for a moment, then looked into the depths of the dense forest. After a moment, he turned back and chuckled softly, "So Miss Su wants to… break the agreement?"
As soon as these two words were uttered, Su Xiaoxiao's trembling body froze. She could clearly feel the chill behind the words "break the agreement."
Like a sword pointing at her brow.
"No," Su Xiaoxiao replied immediately. She calmed her emotions, and her next words were not so urgent.
She withdrew her gaze, looked at Chen Ran, and then said, "Now, no matter what happens to my brother, it's too late for me to go back. If I can find clues on the stone disk, my brother may still have a chance."
Chen Ran nodded in approval and said with a smile, "Miss Su is indeed intelligent!"
"Alright," Su Xiaoxiao turned around and continued to advance into the depths of the forest. "Let's hurry. We haven't found any trace of those two people along the way. They may have already found the stone disk."
Chen Ran took his hand out of his pocket again and followed with a smile, "I'll listen to Miss Su's arrangements."
After walking for about half an hour, relying on Su Xiaoxiao's memory, they finally found the strange white stone disk. Chen Ran squatted down, hiding behind a dense bush.
Su Xiaoxiao was about two or three meters away from him, hiding behind a tree, with only half of her face exposed, staring at the vicinity of the stone disk.
The two were quietly waiting for their prey to take the bait.
Chen Ran's cold eyes slowly swept across the vicinity of the stone disk. Indeed, it was similar to what Su Xiaoxiao had described to him before. The stone disk stood quietly in the center.
It was piled with bones.
And around the stone disk… were countless graves.
Some graves were scattered with sporadic weapons, all cold weapons such as harpoons and spears. Those buried in these tombs seemed to be… people of warrior status.
How strange…
But what was even stranger was the location itself. It was located deep in the forest, and they couldn't determine how far it was from the edge, but it was definitely a distance.
Why… bother to bring people here for burial?
Moreover, the soil here presented a strange dark red color, as if it had been soaked in a large amount of blood. Grabbing a handful and placing it near the tip of the nose, the feedback was nauseating.
Chen Ran narrowed his eyes slightly.
Obviously, the guys in Black Stone Town had lied to them. This place could never have been washed out by a flash flood.
The area around the stone disk was flat, a completely open space, without any vegetation. It would not be an exaggeration to say that not a single blade of grass grew here.
Flash floods that needed to rely on terrain could not do this, let alone have the strength to rush here.
Everything here… seemed man-made.
Chen Ran slowly grinned. This was… getting more and more interesting.
Su Xiaoxiao's voice came over, filled with urgency and unease, "Why haven't those two people… appeared yet?" She was too worried about her brother, to the point of losing her composure.
Chen Ran's eyes swept along the edge of the dark red soil and the forest, and after a long while, he looked up at the sky.
The sky was the same, but… too much time had passed.
Slowly retracting his gaze, Chen Ran turned his head and focused his attention on Su Xiaoxiao. Su Xiaoxiao was still looking around, not paying attention.
After a long while—
"Miss Su," Chen Ran suddenly said, "I think…" He smiled and said, "Those two people are probably already been here."
"Been here? Where?" Su Xiaoxiao widened her eyes.
Chen Ran stretched out a hand and pointed to the white stone disk in the very center of the open space, "If I'm not mistaken, they're on it."
"You mean they're already dead?"
Chen Ran remained noncommittal, a strange light flashing in his eyes, but when Su Xiaoxiao's gaze touched his eyes, the light in his eyes disappeared suddenly.
"I think so," Chen Ran exhaled, turned his head to look at the silent stone disk and tomb, and said in a low voice, "According to the clues I have, this stone disk shouldn't be so quiet."
Su Xiaoxiao thought for a while, then nodded and said, "You're right. The last time I came here, it wasn't so quiet either. The current stone disk… is like it's full and resting."
"That's right," Chen Ran shrugged and walked out of the forest first, "So… Miss Su, please hurry up," his voice came over, slightly distorted, "Don't forget, it's almost dark."
This sentence hit Su Xiaoxiao's weak spot. Once it got dark, let alone what would happen to her brother, even she herself would probably not be able to walk out of this forest alive.
She bit her lip, then walked out of the forest and followed Chen Ran towards the stone disk.
Passing by tomb after tomb, she tried not to look, not to think, but she couldn't stop the various strange and chaotic patterns and lines from flashing in her mind.
It was like a awl, piercing into her head, forcibly pouring something into it.
The two were getting closer and closer to the stone disk. Chen Ran gradually slowed down his pace, keeping the same speed as Su Xiaoxiao. His gentle eyes slowly surged with some other colors.
"Doctor," Fatty stuck out his butt, holding a broken tree branch with green leaves as cover, his small eyes looking out through the gaps. He whispered, "They're moving."
Jiang Cheng hid behind a large moss-covered boulder, watching Su Xiaoxiao and Chen Ran approach the stone disk step by step. He continued to observe silently.
Fatty swallowed, turned his head, "Doctor," he lowered his voice, but there was undisguised surprise in his voice, "You're really amazing! How did you know they wouldn't wait for us and would go to see the stone disk themselves?"
In Fatty's eyes, this was unwise, tantamount to two squishy bodies starting a group fight.
But the doctor didn't seem surprised. He didn't even look at Fatty, just simply replied, "It's getting dark. They can't afford to wait."
Fatty thought for a while and replied, "Anyway, if it were me, I would wait to the death. At worst, we'll all be finished when it gets dark. These two are just stupidly going over there. If something goes wrong, isn't that suicide?"
Jiang Cheng casually said, "That's not necessarily true."
Fatty was stunned for a moment, then looked at the doctor, blinked his eyes, and said, "Do they have some hidden cards that they haven't revealed? The kind that can save their lives?"
Before he could finish his words, Fatty seemed to have thought of something, and said excitedly, "Do they have that kind of life-saving white paper?"
Jiang Cheng retracted his gaze, glanced at Fatty, and said after a long while, "I don't know if they have white paper, but it's not two people who are going to die, it's just that stupid woman alone."
"Do you think we're the only team being used as cannon fodder?" Jiang Cheng continued.
