Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 101 Anticipation
"You're something else, Doctor," Fatty exclaimed, "You even guessed that?"
Setting down his coffee cup, Jiang Cheng looked at Fatty and asked, "What are you thinking?"
Fatty's expression was slightly awkward for a moment, but he quickly recovered, "Doctor, I remember we talked about this before," he prompted, "When we were in the mission."
"At that time, you said this thing should be related to cracking the mission..."
"Continue," Jiang Cheng said, sipping his coffee, "I'm listening."
"But... I can't figure it out, since someone among them grasped the clues, why were they all wiped out?" A hint of doubt flashed in Fatty's eyes, "Is this mission too difficult? Or... is there a problem with our guess?"
For Fatty, the first mission was no different from the second. Without the doctor leading him, he probably wouldn't have survived even with three extra lives.
"Doctor, to be honest, I think our teammates this time were pretty unusual," Fatty said with a faraway look, as if lost in memories, "Yu Wen, Zhang Yinyin, and that..."
He held up two fingers and pointed to his eyes, his face twitching unnaturally, "That Zhen Jianren, he... he could even bring himself to do that to himself, too ruthless..."
Hearing this, Jiang Cheng didn't show any expression, leaving Fatty unable to discern his thoughts.
In front of the former, he once thought he was a blank sheet of paper.
But this mission once again refreshed his understanding of Jiang Cheng. He had overestimated himself; it would be more accurate to say he was a piece of waste paper.
He even had the illusion that the Jiang Cheng in the nightmare was the real him, while the one in front of him... was just a puppet wearing a doctor's coat.
Just as Fatty was thinking, Jiang Cheng raised his head and looked towards the door.
A few seconds later, Fatty heard footsteps.
The footsteps were crisp, the sound of sharp high heels hitting the marble floor.
"Dong, dong, dong."
The footsteps stopped in front of the door, followed by three rhythmic knocks.
The visitor was not abrupt.
On the contrary, they were full of sincerity and politeness.
"Please come in," Jiang Cheng said.
The door was pushed open, and the sunlight that streamed in was a little dazzling. Fatty looked against the light and could only vaguely make out the outline of a person.
Gradually, as his eyes adjusted to the light, Fatty couldn't help but be stunned.
From bottom to top, the first thing that caught his eye was a pair of long, slender legs.
The legs were not only thin and long but also glowed white.
Underneath was a pair of silver, diamond-encrusted high heels, the refracted light cutting the not-so-dim room into fragmented pieces.
"Doctor Jiang," the visitor said, her gentle voice spreading like water, "Our boss invites you to come over."
It was a woman dressed as a secretary, in her early twenties.
White shirt, extremely short black business skirt, and a pair of black-framed glasses. She had a faint smile on her face, intellectual yet charming.
Fatty finally realized that he had seen the woman before, when... He quickly recalled, when the Pi Ruan brothers came.
She was the Pi Ruan brothers' secretary!
"Miss Lin," Jiang Cheng didn't even get up, just looked at her and said, "I remember the birthday banquet is tomorrow."
"Tomorrow is the official one," the woman called Miss Lin bowed slightly and politely replied, "Today is only for some special guests. Boss Pi... hopes Doctor Jiang can do him the honor."
The woman wore light makeup, her eyes were bright, and with every frown and smile, Fatty's soul was almost hooked away. He couldn't help but swallow and imagined the Pi Ruan brothers' happiness.
He was a little regretful.
Perhaps... the landlady named Liu Niuma that the doctor introduced to him was not bad. Although she was older and more ill, she seemed to be someone he could spend his life with.
"I'm sorry, Miss Lin, I have a patient later," Jiang Cheng's voice was surprisingly calm. Fatty even heard a trace of indifference and alienation in it.
Staring at him in surprise, Fatty thought, is this still the doctor? Could he have been replaced by a ghost in the mission?
But to his surprise, Miss Lin seemed to have anticipated Jiang Cheng's words, smiling and saying, "Boss Pi said he apologizes for delaying Doctor Jiang's work." She paused and continued, "It won't be for nothing, there's a red envelope."
The next second, Jiang Cheng stood up while taking off his wrinkled coat, and instantly took out a suit and draped it over his shoulders.
Then, while walking, he tied his tie and said, "Boss Pi's kindness doesn't matter, but since Miss Lin came to pick me up in person, I really can't find a reason to refuse."
Under Fatty's shocked gaze, Jiang Cheng's left hand naturally wrapped around Miss Lin's waist.
God knows what he whispered in Miss Lin's ear, making the latter's ears turn red.
The two left, close together and laughing.
Fatty stood alone in front of the door, watching a blue supercar roar away with a complicated expression, feeling that this scene seemed familiar.
After a while, Fatty stood in front of the phone, a thick, open medical record taken from the case file rack spread out on the desk.
"Ouyang Guifang..."
Swallowing, he tremblingly pressed the first number... Waiting for the sound, a longing for a new life ignited in his heart.
......
The sun set in the west.
By the time Jiang Cheng returned, full of food and drink, it was completely dark.
In the dim light, Fatty was curled up alone on the sofa, his back looking like a big lump, head hanging down, looking very pitiful.
There was no smell of food in the room. Fatty had not eaten since he left. Ribs, fish, and everything else were neatly stacked in the refrigerator.
Only one lamp was on in the room.
Jiang Cheng walked over and turned on the desk lamp, then took off his perfume-scented suit and hung it on the hanger.
Then he seemed to suddenly realize something, his hand paused, and he immediately took the suit down, crumpled it into a ball, first found a bag to put it in, then stuffed it into the cabinet under the desk.
Jiang Cheng breathed a long sigh of relief after doing all this.
Fatty didn't take the initiative to talk to him, so Jiang Cheng walked over and sat down beside Fatty. After a while, he glanced at the desk and asked meaningfully, "The call didn't go through?"
The depressed Fatty didn't care about being surprised anymore, after all, the medical record that recorded the rich women's illnesses and preferences was spread out on Jiang Cheng's desk.
Any normal person could see it.
Fatty hung his head and still didn't speak.
Someone knocked on the door, Jiang Cheng got up to open it, and a man carrying 5 or 6 shopping bags strode in.
"Mr. Jiang Cheng?" The other party looked at the order in his hand and confirmed again.
"Yes," Jiang Cheng reached out to take the bags and nodded, "That's me."
Fatty sniffed and smelled a faint fragrance of seafood, it was...
At the same time as Jiang Cheng took the bags, he placed them on the table in front of Fatty, "Ordered some seafood," Jiang Cheng said, "Have a bite."
