Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 182 Visitor
"Doctor," Fatty said in a voice only he and the doctor could hear.
"Hmm?" Jiang Cheng looked up.
"Could you, for the love of God, stop wiping the grease on your hands on me?"
"Tsk," Jiang Cheng withdrew his now much cleaner hand from behind Fatty, and pouted, "You're such a cheapskate."
"Come over here, everyone!"
The biker girl's voice rang out; she was standing next to a large wooden frame.
When they walked over, they found several baskets behind the wooden frame, which originally had lids.
But at the moment, the lids had been lifted and thrown on the ground, and inside the baskets were bundles of firewood.
They also found a few pieces of cloth-like fabric in another basket.
"These should be used to make torches," Jiang Cheng said.
He picked out a few handy wooden sticks, then tied the fabric to them, and finally indicated that they could dip them in some oil in the containers.
And just like that, a torch was made.
They also found a few stones for making fire below the containers.
"What's this?" Fatty, with his sharp eyes, spotted a very neat large stone block, standing alone by the wooden frame.
Because the colors of the two were similar, everyone hadn't noticed it at first.
He walked up and tried to move it, but couldn't budge it.
Jiang Cheng and the young master also noticed this and planned to help, but due to the angle, they couldn't get a good grip, and three people together were actually worse than one.
"You all get out of the way," the loli girl stood behind them.
Everyone turned their heads and saw a 2-meter-tall man.
The tall man was stared at by the three of them at the same time, his face faintly flushed, then he took advantage of the gap when the three moved out of the way and stepped forward alone.
Without even seeing how much force he used, the stone block was moved.
Just as the stone block was moved, a gust of strong wind suddenly rushed in, blowing so hard that everyone couldn't open their eyes.
The young master covered his eyes with his hand, his expression intriguing, as if he had known this would happen all along.
It was a small window, square, serving as a lookout post.
Facing the sea.
After all this commotion, the sky outside gradually darkened.
Jiang Cheng and the others lit a few homemade torches, partly for lighting, and partly to keep warm.
After all, it was really too cold here.
Everyone unknowingly gathered together.
Only the older woman sat alone in the corner, her entire face hidden in the darkness.
Fatty wanted to call her over, but before he could speak, Jiang Cheng patted him on the face, so he held back.
The temperature continued to drop; God knows why it was so cold here.
"Should... should we light that thing?" The rock-climbing girl's teeth were chattering from the cold.
She exercised all year round and was in good shape, but even so, she couldn't stand the cold, let alone the others.
"Okay," Jiang Cheng was the first to agree.
The others all stared at him with envious eyes because...
"Fatty," Jiang Cheng squinted comfortably and said softly, "Hold me a little tighter, I keep feeling a draft."
He was held in Fatty's arms, and the loli girl received the same treatment.
The tall man took care of her meticulously, like a butler.
Finally, the young master stood up, first stretched his body, then pulled out a burning torch and walked to the container filled with oil.
Everyone either shielded themselves or closed their eyes, and then a very strong flame shot up with a whoosh.
The room instantly became so bright that there were almost no blind spots.
The lighthouse... was lit.
Along with the blazing flames, a very strange fragrance spread out.
Everyone, tired, hungry, and thirsty after a day of hard work, felt as if the strength they had lost had returned to their bodies after smelling this fragrance.
"What... what is this smell?" The biker girl took another big gulp of the fragrance and said greedily.
Fatty swallowed his saliva and asked ignorantly, "Could it be ambergris? I heard that stuff is magical."
The young master shook his head, "Ambergris doesn't smell like this, and... the color of the wax doesn't match either. Ambergris is yellowish-gray, or even black."
After the temperature in the room rose, Jiang Cheng left Fatty's arms.
He stood up comfortably and glanced casually near the window; the next second, he froze.
Through the small square window, he saw that the sea outside, which had been completely dark, was now brightly lit.
Buildings of varying heights were densely and orderly arranged together, and there were spots of light moving back and forth from time to time.
A city... had actually appeared on the sea!
"How... how could this be?" The biker girl squeezed by the square window, her face changed.
The rock-climbing girl swallowed and stared at the brightly lit seaside city, whispering, "Could it be a mirage?"
Then, as if to prove what she said, she continued, "Mirages don't just appear in the desert, they can also appear at sea..."
Before she could finish speaking, she stopped herself, and then her eyes widened slowly.
Because she saw that some spots of light were leaving the city, then lined up in a long string, swaying and heading straight for them.
Now everyone understood that it was the lighting of the lighthouse that caused these things to find them by following the guidance of the lighthouse.
But it was too late to say anything now; the distance between the seaside city and the building was still unclear, but it looked like it couldn't be far.
Because those spots of light were swaying, and seemingly not moving fast, but they had already traveled one-third of the way.
"Leave one person to guard the lighthouse, everyone else go down," the loli girl was the one who gave the order in this moment of crisis.
"I'll stay," the biker girl said immediately.
The others didn't hesitate any longer and immediately took the torches downstairs.
Saying to leave one person, but actually two were left, because the older woman didn't move at all; she didn't even go to the square window to look at the city.
The purpose of leaving one person was just to keep an eye on this woman.
The biker girl also knew better than to disturb her.
The feeling of going upstairs was long, but going downstairs was quick, at least they managed to close the door of the building together before the spots of light arrived.
Then they extinguished the torches, and everyone lurked in the darkness in groups.
Jiang Cheng and Fatty were in one group, the loli girl and the tall man were in one group, and the remaining young master and rock-climbing girl were in one group.
The three groups hid in an inverted triangle shape; Jiang Cheng and Fatty chose a spot behind a broken stone pillar, where they could see the position of the gate through the gap.
A chaotic sound grew closer and closer, and finally stopped in front of the gate.
Then there was a knock on the door.
The sound was muffled and heavy, and whatever was knocking on the door was very strong.
Everyone remained motionless, six pairs of eyes staring nervously at the gate.
"Is anyone there?"
A human voice came from outside; although the panting was heavy and the pronunciation was not very standard, it was indeed a human voice.
"We are people from Black Stone Town," the thing making the human voice outside said, "We saw the light on the lighthouse."
