Gentle Sleep Instructor

Chapter 349 Feng Shui

When they were registering on the bus back, one of the women from the private room said weakly that the person who ran away wasn't a police officer.

"Then why was he wearing a police uniform?" Xu Yi asked, stunned.

After a moment, another woman added quietly that it was one of their themes for the night. The man had just arrived, and there was also a doctor's coat that he had taken off and left behind the sofa.

Hearing this, Xu Yi's colleagues riding in the car with her burst out laughing. Even after returning to the police station, Xu Yi's head was still buzzing.

The next day, she received a transfer order from above, moving her from the criminal investigation team to the current public security management team, where she had been ever since.

At the time, her internship in the criminal investigation team wasn't even over yet.

From then on, Xu Yi seemed to develop a deep-seated resentment. She found the police station's sketch artist and, based on her memories of that night, drew a portrait of Jiang Cheng, making more than 20 copies in one go.

She even plastered them in her office and by her bedside, constantly reminding herself not to forget this humiliating disgrace.

Now, heaven had eyes and she had finally caught him.

"Miss Xu," Jiang Cheng said immediately, "the conflict between us is, after all, an internal matter. If we start a fight here, it won't be good for either of us."

Xu Yi glanced at the Fatty. The Fatty immediately stood beside the doctor, making his position clear.

He puffed out his cheeks, looking very fierce.

"Fine," Xu Yi sneered. "We'll settle our score outside." As soon as she finished speaking, she took a few quick steps forward and kicked Jiang Cheng hard in the butt.

It was clear that Jiang Cheng had wanted to dodge, and could have, but in the end, he didn't move and obediently took the hit.

"Was he there that night?" Xu Yi pointed at the Fatty and asked Jiang Cheng.

After glancing at the Fatty, Jiang Cheng sighed and said to Xu Yi, "What do you think?"

Xu Yi looked at the Fatty a few times, and finally gave up on the idea of kicking him too. Part of it was that she couldn't beat him, but mainly she felt that she might be wrongly accusing a good person this time.

After noticing that Xu Yi's gaze towards him was different from her gaze towards the doctor, he felt that he was probably being disliked again.

"Which rooms are you in?"

"610, 614."

Jiang Cheng had deliberately chosen them. Actually, Xu Yi wasn't slow to react either. Jiang Cheng saw that she had specifically selected rooms 707 and 710.

The girl named Chu Jiu beside her didn't choose. Xu Yi gave her one. If Jiang Cheng remembered correctly, it was 707.

Jiang Cheng opened his hand, revealing the key to room 610.

"Miss Xu," Jiang Cheng said very sincerely, "this time, you're on top of me!"

Xu Yi was stunned for a moment. When she realized what he meant, she pretended to kick him again, but this time Jiang Cheng nimbly ran away.

On the other hand, Chu Jiu beside Xu Yi blinked, looking at Xu Yi and Jiang Cheng with a confused expression.

Had that man said something wrong?

It was clear that Sister Xu Yi was above him.

The two groups had nothing more to say and prepared to go upstairs. Jiang Cheng eagerly ran to the elevator and called it down.

"Miss Xu," he turned his head and said, "I called the elevator for you."

Xu Yi ignored him and walked directly to the fire escape. After discovering that there were lights inside, she turned to look at Jiang Cheng with Chu Jiu.

After a moment, Jiang Cheng had no choice but to walk over with the Fatty.

The group went upstairs with great tacit understanding.

They were very fast, and soon reached the 6th floor. Jiang Cheng suggested that Xu Yi and the lovely little sister come to his room to sit, but Chu Jiu politely refused.

Jiang Cheng reached out and touched Chu Jiu's head before running away with the Fatty.

Walking into the hallway, the Fatty noticed that the doctor's face immediately changed. That cheap, smirking look faded away like ice and snow.

The hallway was relatively dark, with only a few dim yellow lights on, like half-opened eyes staring maliciously at the approaching living people.

Lowering his gaze and staring at the long, gray hallway, Jiang Cheng felt an inexplicable sense of unease, as if he would be swallowed by something as soon as he stepped inside.

A night breeze swept in from an unknown corner, scattering Jiang Cheng's bangs. He tightened his collar with one hand and began to walk inside.

The Fatty followed behind Jiang Cheng, his small eyes looking left and right.

To his surprise, a few of the old lights overhead seemed to be motion-activated, lighting up as they passed.

There wasn't much clutter in the hallway, and it seemed that there weren't as many people living here as the old man had said.

Jiang Cheng tilted his head and walked forward, following the room numbers.

As he passed more and more rooms, he noticed that many of the doors had rental notices posted on them.

He casually tore one off and, using the light overhead, held it up to his eyes.

"The whole apartment for rent, fully furnished, utilities included, only 450 a month, and no deposit required?" The Fatty leaned in to look, his eyes widening. The dorm he used to share wasn't even that cheap.

Turning around and taking two steps, Jiang Cheng also peeled off the rental notice from the apartment across the hall. After comparing the two, he lowered his hand.

The price, conditions, and everything were about the same. It seemed that these rooms on the 6th floor were all around this price.

The Fatty nudged Jiang Cheng's shoulder. He didn't dare to speak, and could only signal with his eyes. Jiang Cheng understood that he was reminding him not to linger in the hallway.

When passing room 610, Jiang Cheng didn't stop, but instead went to the front of room 614, where the Fatty was staying.

At Jiang Cheng's signal, the Fatty opened the door with his key. The door slowly opened, but neither of them intended to go inside.

They just stood outside the door and looked.

This was a typical small one-bedroom apartment with a living room and a bathroom. The entrance was a small living room, and to the left was a bedroom.

There was a corner on the right side. Standing here, he could see what appeared to be a wooden door behind the corner.

However, due to the lighting, it was blurry and unclear. He guessed that the wooden door was probably the bathroom.

The overall layout of the room was long and narrow, and slightly gloomy. There was only a small window, and even during the day, the lighting was probably poor.

In short, the *feng shui* here was very bad.

Because the doors to the bedroom and bathroom were closed, Jiang Cheng didn't leave directly. Instead, he gave the Fatty a look.

The latter slowly crept into the room, first finding the light switch and turning on the lights. Then, he took small steps towards the bedroom and threw the door open.

At the same time as he opened the door, he ran straight back to the doctor's side.

Fortunately, the bedroom was calm and peaceful.

He used the same method to open the bathroom door, and nothing happened.

After carefully scanning the room again, Jiang Cheng lowered his voice and said, "Don't sleep tonight." He paused. "Be alert."

This was the first time the Fatty had slept separately from the doctor since entering the instance. He nodded repeatedly and said to Jiang Cheng, "Doctor, be careful too."

"Remember," Jiang Cheng looked at him and instructed, "if anything happens, you must remain calm. Absolutely do not run into dead ends like the bedroom or the bathroom, and try not to leave the room."

"Don't open the door for anyone, no matter who calls. I won't come looking for you," Jiang Cheng said. "If something happens to me, don't worry about it. You can't help anyway."
