Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 341 A Pity
"An Xuan?" Fatty exclaimed.
Jiang Cheng was still sketching. An Xuan's face was just taking shape; he needed to refine it, or it would be very inconvenient.
"Doctor," Fatty said, looking at Jiang Cheng, "Isn't he a Night Watchman? And… and he's already dead."
"You saw him die?" Jiang Cheng asked.
Fatty sensed a hint of displeasure in the doctor's tone and wisely swallowed his next words.
Once the doctor finished the drawing, Fatty asked quietly, "Wasn't he left behind by You Qi?" He licked his lips. "Like this… can he still survive like this?"
"I didn't say he was Crimson; I just think it's a pity for someone with such skills to die," Jiang Cheng said, picking up the drawing and holding it up.
Hearing this, Fatty nodded repeatedly. "Indeed, Doctor, this An Xuan is quite capable. When I heard you describe You Qi, I…"
Seeming to suddenly remember something, Fatty said worriedly, "Doctor, you're not still looking for An Xuan, are you?"
After a moment, he added with concern, "Doctor, not to be nosy, but it's fine if you use Pi Ruan to find someone like Chen Qiang, but An Xuan is a Night Watchman. Although we don't know how capable the Night Watchman organization is, it seems stronger than Xia Meng's gang."
Staring at the messy studio, which had been turned upside down by Xia Meng's gang, Fatty swallowed and advised softly, "I suggest you don't play with fire."
Jiang Cheng looked up at Fatty, his calm gaze making the latter uneasy. After a moment…
"Don't be nervous," Jiang Cheng said, shrugging. "I'm just keeping a souvenir; maybe he's already dead."
Fatty breathed a sigh of relief, then grabbed another cup and poured himself some water, gulping it down to ease the pressure in his heart.
"Go upstairs and sleep," Jiang Cheng said, standing up and stretching.
Although they had only been busy for less than a day in reality, a long time had passed in the nightmare.
Nightmares only replenish physical strength and heal physical injuries, but the mental and brainpower consumed by constant tension cannot be restored.
For Fatty right now, he could fall asleep with just a pillow.
Hearing the doctor say this, Fatty also felt sleepy, but to be safe, he rubbed his eyes and asked, "Doctor, nothing will happen tonight, right?"
"Probably not."
After answering Fatty's question, Jiang Cheng went into the bedroom to sleep. He habitually wanted to close the door, but after seeing Fatty's pitiful face, he left the door open.
He simply changed into clean clothes and lay down on the mattress.
The blanket was pulled up to his chin.
His sleeping posture was very peaceful.
He wasn't used to sleeping on a bed; he never had been.
He didn't like the feeling of emptiness beneath him.
Fatty thought for a while and finally, as usual, moved the sofa in front of the doctor's bedroom door and lay down on it.
From the doctor's perspective, he could see a large head blocking the doorway.
Fatty hugged himself and fell asleep contentedly.
The next morning, Fatty was awakened by the sunlight. He opened his eyes groggily and found the mattress nearby empty.
The doctor was gone.
He woke up instantly.
"Doctor!" Fatty searched upstairs but couldn't find him, so he hurried downstairs, shouting as soon as he reached the stairs, "Doctor, where are you?"
Fortunately, as soon as he reached the bottom of the stairs, he saw the doctor, supporting himself with both hands, getting up from the ground.
Judging by the rise and fall of his chest, Fatty guessed that he had been exercising.
He had seen the doctor do push-ups with one hand and was envious of the slightly bulging muscle lines on the latter's body.
"Doctor, you haven't eaten yet, have you?" Fatty asked anxiously.
"No."
Fatty rolled up his sleeves as he walked towards the kitchen. "Doctor, please rest for a while. I'll wash up first and then make breakfast right away."
After washing his face in the bathroom, Jiang Cheng dried his hands, walked to his desk, turned on the computer, and began typing with his slender, strong fingers, creating a crisp sound.
"Hello," Jiang Cheng said, answering a call.
"Doctor Jiang, it's me!" Pi Ruan's enthusiastic voice came through the receiver. He was always so energetic. "Are you busy?"
"I'm at the studio."
"Great, I'll be right over," Pi Ruan said.
Jiang Cheng stared at the computer and said in a drawn-out voice, "I… just woke up."
After a moment…
"Oh, what a coincidence!" Pi Ruan said immediately. "I just woke up too. I haven't had breakfast yet, Doctor Jiang. Would it be convenient for you to join me for a simple…"
He spoke with a smile. If Fatty were next to the phone, he could imagine Pi Ruan's fawning expression.
"Then just get something simple," Jiang Cheng said casually, typing with one hand. "The usual will do."
"Okay, Doctor Jiang, I'll be right there," Pi Ruan said quickly.
"Wait!"
Pi Ruan, who was about to call the hotel to prepare, immediately put the phone back to his ear. "Doctor Jiang," he asked respectfully, "Is there anything else?"
"Two portions," Jiang Cheng said.
"Understood."
His calm, even indifferent attitude contrasted sharply with Pi Ruan's enthusiastic voice.
Fatty had previously advised the doctor to be nicer to his customers. After all, he was running a business. Wasn't there a saying, "Don't open a shop if you can't smile?"
He needed to make customers feel at home…
Fatty only advised him to this point, and then he stopped.
Because he saw the doctor raise his head and look at him calmly. After less than three seconds of eye contact, Fatty obediently went to mop the floor.
A moment later, he went to the kitchen and scrubbed the doctor's favorite coffee cup inside and out four or five times, making it look like new.
It even reflected light in the sun.
"Fatty," Jiang Cheng called without looking up.
Fatty poked half his head out of the kitchen, blinked, and said, "Doctor, you called me?" Then he wiped his hands casually on his old clothes.
"Don't make breakfast. Pi Ruan will be here soon," Jiang Cheng said. "He bought too much breakfast and asked us to help him share some."
"Oh, okay, Doctor."
…
Swallowing, Fatty stared at the table full of breakfast, momentarily confused about who he was and where he was.
It was the first time he had ever seen… someone eat cheese lobster for breakfast, along with bone-in steaks wrapped in tin foil.
Wasn't it too rich?
Moreover, Pi Ruan, who had brought the breakfast, didn't eat a single bite. He was busy peeling spicy crayfish for the doctor while smiling obsequiously.
Taking advantage of Pi Ruan's absence to answer a call, Fatty swallowed the shrimp meat in his mouth and asked quickly, "Doctor, are you sure this is the breakfast Brother Pi Ruan bought for himself alone?"
"Yes." Jiang Cheng swallowed the crayfish in his mouth and took a bite of a crab roe bun. The yellow soup immediately overflowed.
"He can eat two steaks, twelve crab roe buns, two servings of fish noodle soup, one serving of spicy crayfish, one serving of drunken crab, plus three lobsters this big by himself?" He raised the lobster's claw, which was thicker than his hand.
Taking a sip of tea, Jiang Cheng looked up at Fatty and said slowly, "That's why I said he bought too much."
