Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 1017 What Did I Say?
The old man was startled. Before he could explain on his phone, his neck suddenly tightened. Wu unceremoniously grabbed his scarf and pulled him out. "Your scarf is so red, you must… know the way, right?"
The old man: "???"
Wu didn't waste words with him, directly pulling out the old man's shadow. The following scene was similar to what happened with the young man. The shadow appeared extremely stubborn in front of everyone, but the words on the phone were honest.
After obtaining the information he wanted, Wu turned and left.
Seeing Wu walking away, presumably not turning back, the old man's shadow slowly straightened his back, opened his mouth wide, and stretched his neck grotesquely toward Wu's back, seemingly wanting to curse a few times to play the part of unyielding resistance.
But as soon as he opened his mouth, he caught a glimpse of Wu's figure swaying, and was so frightened that his head instantly retracted. His knees also betrayed him, and he plopped to the ground, scrambling back into his body.
The scene quieted down again.
Following the old man's guidance, Wu entered a cave that looked unremarkable from the outside. The cave was dark and contained no corpses, but Wu knew this was the right place.
He smelled a peculiar scent emanating from the depths of the cave.
Suddenly, his phone rang. Wu looked down and pulled a pink phone with cheap rhinestones from his windbreaker pocket.
He had taken it from the enchanting woman. The screen now displayed the name Jiang Cheng.
How coincidental, a guy named "Jiang Cheng" was calling him.
Wu answered and held it to his ear. The familiar voice on the other end said, "Wu, where are you? Come back and save me! We're in danger! That thing isn't there with you, she's come for us!" Jiang Cheng's voice was mixed with the sound of rushing wind, making it hard to hear clearly, but he seemed to be running frantically, as if fleeing for his life.
"Don't trouble yourself," Wu said softly. "Once I kill you, they'll naturally be safe."
The rushing wind sound on the other end paused, then returned to normal. "What are you saying? Are you crazy? I'm Jiang Cheng, come back and save me! She… she's about to catch us! If we die, you'll also…"
Wu hung up. Knowing the other party was anxious, he deliberately quickened his pace.
The cave wasn't as deep as he'd imagined. After a few turns, water began to seep from the rock walls, and the ground became uneven. Strangely, Wu's reflection didn't appear in the water.
He was like an invisible ghost, trekking through the cave.
Until he finally stopped.
Before him was a vast space filled with countless cocoon-like objects, each containing a person.
The cocoons were connected by thin black threads, tangled together in a chaotic mess that made one's scalp crawl.
Wu glanced around and knew that the people here were beyond saving. A peculiar force was extracting their shadows, and they would eventually become like the things in the bar.
What truly attracted Wu's attention was an extremely large cocoon hanging in mid-air.
Through the dense threads, he could vaguely make out the silhouette of a person inside. Wu drew his sword and, with precise control, sliced through the threads without harming the person inside. A man fell from the broken cocoon.
Before Wu could approach, the fallen man slowly got up. He looked disheveled, but had no obvious injuries, and his shadow was normal.
The man saw Wu and reached up somewhat awkwardly to straighten his cowboy hat. "I got careless and fell into her trap. Luckily you arrived in time, or I would have been slowly digested by her."
Number Two's face and body were covered in remnants of black threads, resembling spider silk. He peeled them off bit by bit, but they seemed particularly sticky.
"How are the others?" Number Two asked.
Wu stared into Number Two's eyes. Before he could react, Number Two's expression changed instantly, and he suddenly shouted, "Watch out above!"
Two extremely thin and long arms reached down from the ceiling, silently grabbing at Wu. In a flash, Wu tilted his head, barely dodging the attack. A cold light flashed, and one arm was slashed off at an angle.
A heart-wrenching scream echoed from above, followed by the sound of something rapidly crawling away. Sharp claws scraped against the rock walls, creating an ear-piercing "squeak, squeak" sound as the sound moved quickly towards the cave entrance.
Seeing this, Number Two pointed towards the cave entrance and shouted anxiously, "Quick, don't let her escape! The others are still outside, they can't handle this thing!"
A surge of anxiety seemed to aggravate Number Two's injuries. He clutched his chest, coughing violently.
Unlike Number Two's urgency, Wu had an indifferent expression, tilting his head with a look of interest as he stared at Number Two's face. The slender blade reflected a cold light in the dim environment.
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine! Go after her, letting that thing escape will only cause endless trouble!" As the crawling sound outside grew fainter, Number Two became increasingly frantic, seeing that Wu wasn't moving. Veins bulged on his forehead.
Wu suddenly smiled. "Don't worry, she won't get away."
Seeing that Number Two still didn't understand, Wu paused, then took out his phone, found the "Jiang Cheng" number, and called back. He held the phone to his ear, watching Number Two's face turn ashen, as if waiting for something amusing to happen.
Until a phone rang from Number Two's body.
The smile on Wu's face widened, his pearly white teeth gradually bared, as if to say: See? What did I tell you?
The battle erupted instantly. Number Two's limbs contorted, and he crawled on the ground like a large spider. His head rotated 180 degrees, revealing a swollen, festering face. His eyes were squeezed into small slits by the rotting flesh, but the spiteful aura within them remained undiminished.
His mouth tore open at an unimaginable angle, spraying black silk at Wu. The spider-like silk seemed to have its own consciousness, wrapping around Wu from all directions.
In just a few seconds, Wu was enveloped in a giant cocoon.
Staring at her masterpiece, the bloated face made a "whooshing" sound. Her entire body trembled violently. Facing such a tricky opponent, the woman had struck with a killer move.
She hadn't expected Wu to be so easy to deal with.
The woman was confident in her silk. After all, there was still a strong guy hanging above them. Thinking that she was about to devour these two guys, the woman trembled with excitement.
Calculating the time, the guy inside the cocoon should already have lost his ability to resist. The woman crawled over, using her sharp, broken fingernails to slowly scratch open a small slit in the cocoon. Then she leaned in, squeezing her eyes into a slit, desperately looking inside, not even noticing someone patting her shoulder from behind.
